Myongji Hospital: more details about the clinic

Republic of Korea, Goyang
Myongji Hospital is a multi-disciplinary medical facility in Goyang, South Korea. Established in 1987, it operates across five buildings and houses 34 medical departments. The hospital serves over 560,000 patients annually, including many from Russia, Mongolia, and China. It has 680 beds for inpatient care across various specialties.

Recognitions and Certifications

The hospital holds the 2026 IHF (International Hospital Federation) label and is a certified medical institution in South Korea. Its endoscopy unit has received the "Excellent Endoscopy Room" designation, which signals high diagnostic safety standards. The Safety and Health Corporation also recognizes the facility for its operational standards. In 2024, the oncology department recorded over 4,400 outpatient visits and 7,600 inpatient treatments.

Specialized Cardiac and Vascular Care

The Cardio-surgical Center has performed over 5,000 heart operations and more than 3,500 aortic coronary bypass procedures. Specialists use the Da Vinci Xi robotic system for TECAB – a fully endoscopic coronary artery bypass. This method allows revascularization without opening the chest or using a cardiopulmonary bypass machine. Professor Kim Min-Sok leads these robotic cardiac interventions.

The hospital treats several cardiovascular conditions through dedicated pathways:

  • Chronic heart failure and myocardial infarction
  • Arrhythmia and atrial fibrillation
  • Atherosclerosis and vascular diseases
  • Aortic coronary bypass and heart transplantation

Dr. Hwang Ui-seok specializes in arrhythmias and atrial fibrillation within the Cardiovascular Center. The hospital supports research through international physician training programs for surgery and gastroenterology.

Orthopedics and Sports Medicine

The Sports Medical Center has completed over 3,000 operations, focusing on joint preservation and reconstruction. Professor Kim Jin-gu specializes in joint replacement, arthroscopy, and meniscus transplantation for sports injuries. Professor Li Yong Gol brings over 30 years of experience in shoulder and elbow joint surgeries. He has performed thousands of procedures during his clinical career.

Orthopedic services include several specialized treatments:

  • Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction
  • Knee joint replacement and endoprosthesis
  • Shoulder and elbow joint reconstruction
  • Limb preservation at the Diabetic Foot Clinic

The hospital offers Zoom-based orthopedic consultations for international patients. During these sessions, specialists review X-rays to determine the best surgical approach before the patient travels.

Oncology and Digestive Health

The Cancer Center follows a "One-Stop" approach – diagnosis and treatment happen in a single streamlined process. This includes an Onco-Emotion System to support patients receiving radiotherapy. For digestive tract cancers, accelerated care pathways ensure surgery occurs within a set timeframe after diagnosis. The facility produces its own medicines for immunotherapy and cell therapy treatments.

Advanced Medical Technologies

Surgeons use the Da Vinci Xi system for urological procedures and robotic thyroidectomy to treat thyroid cancer. For diagnostics, the hospital uses PET/CT and whole-body CT scans to detect early-stage diseases. The Macrogen genetic analysis platform screens for about 50 types of oncological and general conditions. Other tools include Doppler sonography for vessel imaging and coronary angiography for heart assessment.

International Patient Services

The International Medical Center has operated since 2010. It provides 1:1 medical translation in English, Russian, Mongolian, and Chinese. Staff members assist with airport transfers, visa booking, and hotel arrangements for patients and families. The center offers VIP inpatient rooms and European cuisine to suit international preferences. Online neurosurgery consultations are available, where specialists review MRI results remotely.

The emergency department stays open 24/7, including all public holidays. A structured follow-up protocol monitors patient recovery after they return home. For administrative ease, the hospital provides receipts in Russian for patients from CIS countries.

I had a full body check up done here. That is including colonoscopy. Its fast, and efficient, if you dont understand korean, get a translation app install to communicate. You will need to register at home before visiting the hospital. Once registered, confusion and communication breakdown will be mitigated. You can carry your smartphone around at all times- you will need it if you only know English. All the medical staff are professional, they are very accommodating.

I came here to get a health check-up. But it turns out this is a hospital. It feels like it’s in the middle of the forest. A waiting space where healthy waiting is without boredom. And once again, with a convenient system. Nice.

My face was split, so I went to the emergency room, and the plastic surgery professor said that since bleeding had been stopped, the surgery could be done within 24 hours, so I should come in for outpatient registration in the morning. They said it was expensive because it was a regional emergency center. The next day, the plastic surgery department performed the surgery and I also received scar treatment, so I was treated cleanly and it turned out well. GOOD

Recently, I cut my toe and had to rush to Myongji Hospital. Despite the urgency of the situation, the hospital responded quickly and effectively. From the moment I arrived, the friendly staff handled my registration without delay, keeping my waiting time to a minimum. The medical staff examined my injury carefully and professionally, which greatly helped to ease my concerns. The hospital was clean and well equipped, with modern medical equipment. Thanks to the responsiveness and competent emergency medical service at Myongji Hospital, I was able to receive care with complete peace of mind. I express my deep gratitude to them and recommend this hospital for any situation requiring urgent, high-quality care.

It’s a hospital with a lot of bad rumors floating around, but based on my visit, it has good doctors. After treatment, my symptoms improved and it really helped me. The consultation fees aren’t cheap. The facilities are a bit outdated, parking is a bit difficult, and part of the parking lot is currently under construction.

The hospital is too far away, so it’s inconvenient and bothersome for elderly patients with many years behind them to receive medical care and treatment.

I’m a cardiology department appointment patient, and my visit was handled earlier than my scheduled time.
