My motorcycle accident was a drama that split my life into “before” and “after.” A severe head injury and a stroke meant that doctors fought for my life in the ICU. When my condition finally became stable, it didn’t mean a return to normality. That was only the beginning of a long, uncertain road.
I went to Origin straight after my stay in the ICU—first to Otwock. At that time I was in a state of minimal consciousness. I didn’t speak. I couldn’t eat on my own. I didn’t drink. I didn’t sit. I couldn’t move my hands or legs. I wasn’t able to do absolutely anything. My contact with the outside world was limited to blinking my eyes. I was trapped in my own body, completely dependent on others, helpless.
For people in a condition like that, the prognosis is poor. And yet the Origin team took on the work with me—not like with “just a case,” not like with someone who has little chance, but like with a person who has a life ahead and something worth fighting for.
At Origin Otwock they started with me from absolute basics. Learning head control. Attempts at reaction. The first, minimal movements. Every millimeter of progress was worked out through hours of therapy. It was the patient, systematic, extremely professional work of the whole team. They saw potential in me then, when I myself wasn’t even able to fight for myself. The next stage was my stay at Origin Kraków. There, rehabilitation reached an even higher level. It was a fight for independence. Thanks to the huge commitment of the therapists, I began to sit up on my own. For a healthy person, that’s an obvious thing. For me, it was a milestone.
Later, I learned to transfer from the wheelchair. That was another moment when I felt like I was coming back to the world of the living. And then something happened that, not long ago, seemed impossible—I took my first steps with crutches.
Given the state I was in, it was nothing short of a miracle. But it wasn’t a miracle. It was knowledge, experience, consistency, and the immense heart of the people at Origin. Those were months of hard work, often pain, exhaustion, and moments of doubt. And each time, specialists were right beside me who wouldn’t let me give up.
Today, I can walk independently with crutches. Each of those steps is a symbol of the path I took—from the state where the only form of contact was blinking my eyes.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you to the Origin team—both in Otwock and in Kraków. Thank you for professionalism, for patience, for believing in me when I was practically absent. Thank you for bringing me back to life and giving me a real chance for the future.
I will never forget where I started. And I will never forget who I owe it to that today I can stand up and take a step on my own.
