We have a child who is a drug addict. I had never had any contact with drugs in my entire life, and I never imagined that our family would have to face a problem like this. For me, drug addicts were people I only ever saw in movies—beings from another world, as distant as the moon. Suddenly, we had this troublesome person in our family: someone who couldn’t integrate, who was violent toward his parents and his sister. It was, simply, a huge problem that I only wanted to disappear. You can ignore something like this for a while, but in the end it always comes back. In fact, I had already given up; I was convinced there was nothing to be done and I didn’t see any viable solution. In the end, it was my wife who took charge. She found the Centro Zeus in Spain and contacted them. Somehow, she managed to convince—maybe even persuade—our son to go to the Centro Zeus. I didn’t have many hopes that things would change. As a father, I stayed on the sidelines; my wife handled most of the communication with the therapists and spoke with our son through Teams. I have to admit—contrary to what I expected—that the Centro Zeus team seems to have achieved a real positive change. It’s likely that there’s still a long road ahead—after all, ten years of drug use doesn’t disappear in just a few weeks—but I find it admirable that the Centro Zeus team is able to lead someone onto a new path and give them the mental tools they need to recognize dangers and avoid them in the future. I believe the staff at Centro Zeus enabled a transformation that my wife and I wouldn’t have been able to start on our own. Thank you very much.

My goodness, I’ve just seen the news about the complaint against Zeus and I can’t believe what I’m reading. I’ve been in treatment for 25 months; of those, 13 months at home, following the guidelines they say in the article include “punishments” 😱. And all I can do is thank them, because each guideline has helped me overcome my difficulties. But there are people who don’t want to take the path to recovery, or overcome their difficulties in order to make this personal change that the treatment represents. Instead, they do what a “good addict” is used to doing: looking for someone to blame for their failures— in this case, blaming their inability to recover and blaming the center.

I want to encourage people that when the patient doesn’t want to go, there is the FAMILY INTERVENTION, which is prepared with a therapist. In my case, it was with a great professional, Fran. We prepared everything, Fran came to my house, and my son agreed to go with him. My son has only been there for two days. But the treatment and the therapists have informed me, and they look very professional. I encourage others to remove their fears about admission. And don’t overthink it. Every day that passes is too late.

I don’t have enough words to thank the Zeus addiction center and all their incredible team. Good morning! My name is Jordi, I’m a 25-year-old guy who used to live in a world of lies, ailments, lack of control, excess, bad habits... A lot of drugs involved! I’d degraded myself as a person and I lost all the values my parents had instilled in me. I got myself into a world I couldn’t get out of; I was incapable—no matter how many ways I tried, I always ended up going back to consuming. I knew something wasn’t right, and at some point of lucidity (there were very few) I decided to admit myself to Zeus. After so much chaos in my life, it was the best decision I’ve made! I was even worse off than I thought... At Zeus I learned how to manage my emotions, to name my urges to consume, to see reality, to understand the seriousness of things, to take more responsibility, to see the consequences of my actions. I realized that there is life beyond drugs—and that they’re completely unnecessary in my life. And without them, I’m much better. Now I’m happy. I live with fulfillment and satisfaction in what I do. I feel like living, achieving goals, fighting for what I want. I continue in recovery and I can keep adding years to my life instead of taking them away. I can enjoy life—and do it with the people who truly value me and care about me... MY FAMILY! None of this would have been possible without the support of professional people dedicated to mental health, with a lot of vocation. So I thank the whole Zeus team for everything they do every day for and with us. I also want to thank Cristina, who was my therapist when I arrived—for giving me the chance and for having faith in me. To Henry, for being my therapy partner and for backing me, and to this day still doing it. And especially Noelia for fighting all that she’s fought in my process, for telling me things straight and knowing how to put me in my place, for being kind and empathetic, for having faith in me and fighting so I come out of this and don’t go back to the shitty life I had before. Today is a very special day for me because today I have been 2 years without consuming, and I feel very proud of myself and grateful, because today is the date on which my life changed course toward a better path. Even though I know the credit is mine, I also want to thank you and the therapists and my fellow patients who helped me understand myself and cope with my illness. Today, I am very happy with my family, my new group of friends, and above all, after I always thought I would never do anything with my life, I’m about to start my internship as a Mechanic.
