Testicular prosthesis in Mexico can offer significant cost savings, but it's crucial to weigh the potential benefits against the risks.

Pros Cons
Lower costs. Testicular prosthesis in Mexico costs $5,800–$6,000 versus $10,000+ in the US, offering savings of up to 40%. Safety concerns. Potential risks include infection rates of 1–3% and device displacement, similar to rates in the US when performed by qualified surgeons.
Qualified surgeons. Surgeons are certified by the Mexican Council of Plastic Surgery (CMCPER), often with US or European training and over 5 years’ experience in urological procedures. Follow-up care. Managing post-op concerns from abroad can be challenging, but clinics often provide telemedicine and detailed aftercare instructions.
Modern facilities. Hospitals in Tijuana and Mexicali are ISO 9001 certified and use FDA-approved prostheses from leading manufacturers such as Coloplast and Mentor. Different regulatory standards. COFEPRIS oversees device approval, which may differ from the FDA, but top clinics follow both international and local safety protocols.
Discreet, same-day procedure. The procedure is minimally invasive, with most patients discharged within 24 hours and able to travel home within days. Procedure-specific risks. Potential risks include implant rupture or shifting, which occur in 1–2% of cases and are manageable with prompt follow-up.
Personal coordinator support. Bookimed’s medical coordinator helps compare clinics, request personalized quotes, and manage treatment logistics at no additional cost.

It's crucial to thoroughly research clinics and verify surgeon credentials before making a decision. When performed by qualified specialists in accredited facilities, testicular prosthesis in Mexico can be a safe and cost-effective option.

The medical team was great
The medical team was great, the hospital was top notch. Dr. Pliego was available online throughout the entire process (both pre and post surgery) and the surgery went smoothly.
Even though Dr. Pliego was in another surgery when I was released from the hospital, I appreciated the hospital was able to provide my prescription for both antibiotics and pain medicine so I was able to leave and recover in our Air BnB s I was ready to leave the hospital.
I signed a lot of paperwork that wasn't in english.
