My experience has been very bad with Dr. Ayala… He only spoke with me for about 10 minutes before my surgery and afterwards was very reluctant to answer any questions when I said I was not happy with the outcome of my neck and ears. He said I could come back in a couple of months to have it fixed. When I came back. I decided to do liposuction on my abdominal area at the same time again the same thing no follow up as far as what I should be doing or wearing or anything… Again, one of my ears was not corrected and looked actually worse than before. When I came back to get my stitches out I pointed that out and he said that was normal and I argued saying that my other ear came out fine and this year looked bad. He said he couldn’t do anything else except wait for another couple of months and have me come back again. At this point, I showed him my liposuction, which looked bad as well with a lot of fibrosis happening… He gave no recommendation except to have ultrasound treatment done. I went online and discovered I should be wearing compression garments as well as getting massage for lymphatic fluid, which was building up. Once I went to the masseuse, she informed me of all the things I needed to be doing, but this is also cost me an extra thousand dollars. The whole experience was very disappointing and now I need to go to another surgeon to get one of my ears fixed hopefully for the last time But this all started Jan 3 and we are now into May and I’m still not out of the woods! I actually liked the personalities of everybody that I worked with, but I cannot in good conscience. Recommend them to anyone else because I know they will be very disappointed!

I felt like both were done taking exactly what I wanted into account and the overall symmetry at the end for my nostrils was excellent - my nose had been broken and before surgery lack of symmetry was a big issue
I had a really great experience with my doctor and care here. I wanted a very natural looking nose, not to look "doll-like" or like I had a rhinoplasty. Same for lip filler. I felt like both were done taking exactly what I wanted into account and the overall symmetry at the end for my nostrils was excellent - my nose had been broken and before surgery lack of symmetry was a big issue. I believe it required different degrees of cutting for each nostril so I'm very impressed that the end result's symmetry appears less than 1mm different from one another, that's a huge improvement from before. The shape is really nice and I was impressed that after surgery the packing was done in such a way that I was able to breathe through my nose the whole time, even during my recovery.

Terrible surgeon. Will not take the time to speak with you, when he does he knows limited English and is very very rushed. The first time me he gave me results that were so drastic I looked like a pig or someone from who-ville. I had to pay for a second surgery for him to give me my old nose but even worse! (Again super rushed, had zero time to make a decision). Absolutely awful experience. Scary. He refused to even try to fix my nose now for another 6 months. Even though I offered to pay again. Have to date and see friends humiliated with a half finished face. Go to someone with talent and who actually cares. He doesn’t. You are just a number to the surgeons there.

What are the follow-up procedures, and will I need to return to Mexico for them?

Follow-up procedures typically include monitoring healing progress through scheduled appointments at 1 week, 1 month, and 3 months post-surgery. While initial follow-ups occur in Mexico, subsequent ones can often be managed through virtual consultations once you return home.

Are there any cultural differences I should be aware of when undergoing surgery in Mexico?

Cultural differences may include variations in communication styles and patient-doctor interactions. Being open-minded and respectful while discussing your needs can help bridge any cultural gaps during your medical journey.

How do I ensure that the clinic in Mexico is reputable and accredited?

To ensure a clinic's reputation, verify its accreditation status with organizations like ISAPS or JCI. Additionally, research patient reviews and testimonials online, and request references from previous international patients if possible.

What happens if I experience complications after returning home from Mexico?

If complications arise after returning home, contact both your local healthcare provider and the Mexican surgeon who performed your procedure. Many clinics offer remote support and guidance for managing post-operative issues and may coordinate with local doctors if necessary.

Will my health insurance cover any part of the procedure if done in Mexico?

Most health insurance plans do not cover elective procedures like cosmetic rhinoplasty abroad. It's crucial to check with your insurance provider regarding coverage details and consider purchasing additional travel medical insurance for added protection.

What should I know about the safety and hygiene standards of clinics in Mexico?

Reputable clinics in Mexico adhere to strict safety and hygiene protocols comparable to international standards. Ensure that your chosen clinic is accredited by organizations like ISAPS or the Joint Commission International (JCI) for assurance of quality care.

How do I handle post-operative care once I return home from Mexico?

Post-operative care after returning home involves regular follow-ups with your local healthcare provider to monitor healing. Many Mexican clinics offer virtual consultations to assist with ongoing care and address any concerns you may have during recovery.

Are there any hidden costs associated with traveling for surgery in Mexico?

While surgery costs in Mexico may be lower than in other countries, additional expenses such as travel, accommodation, and post-operative care should be considered. It's important to ask for a detailed breakdown of costs from the clinic beforehand to avoid unexpected expenses.

What is the recovery process like, and how long will I need to stay in Mexico after the surgery?

The initial recovery period for Bulbous Nose Rhinoplasty typically lasts about 1 to 2 weeks, during which swelling and bruising are common. You should plan to stay in Mexico for at least 7 to 10 days post-surgery for follow-up appointments before returning home.

Is there a language barrier that might affect my communication with the medical team?

Many clinics in Mexico catering to international patients have English-speaking staff to facilitate communication. It's advisable to confirm language proficiency during initial consultations to ensure clear understanding throughout your treatment.

How can I verify the qualifications and experience of the surgeon in Mexico?

To verify a surgeon's qualifications in Mexico, check if they are certified by the Mexican Board of Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery. Additionally, look for memberships in international organizations like ISAPS or the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), which indicate adherence to high standards of practice.

What are the risks of having Bulbous Nose Rhinoplasty in Mexico compared to my home country?

The risks associated with Bulbous Nose Rhinoplasty in Mexico are similar to those in your home country, including infection, bleeding, and anesthesia complications.
