My experience has been very bad with Dr. Ayala… He only spoke with me for about 10 minutes before my surgery and afterwards was very reluctant to answer any questions when I said I was not happy with the outcome of my neck and ears. He said I could come back in a couple of months to have it fixed. When I came back. I decided to do liposuction on my abdominal area at the same time again the same thing no follow up as far as what I should be doing or wearing or anything… Again, one of my ears was not corrected and looked actually worse than before. When I came back to get my stitches out I pointed that out and he said that was normal and I argued saying that my other ear came out fine and this year looked bad. He said he couldn’t do anything else except wait for another couple of months and have me come back again. At this point, I showed him my liposuction, which looked bad as well with a lot of fibrosis happening… He gave no recommendation except to have ultrasound treatment done. I went online and discovered I should be wearing compression garments as well as getting massage for lymphatic fluid, which was building up. Once I went to the masseuse, she informed me of all the things I needed to be doing, but this is also cost me an extra thousand dollars. The whole experience was very disappointing and now I need to go to another surgeon to get one of my ears fixed hopefully for the last time But this all started Jan 3 and we are now into May and I’m still not out of the woods! I actually liked the personalities of everybody that I worked with, but I cannot in good conscience. Recommend them to anyone else because I know they will be very disappointed!

I felt like both were done taking exactly what I wanted into account and the overall symmetry at the end for my nostrils was excellent - my nose had been broken and before surgery lack of symmetry was a big issue
I had a really great experience with my doctor and care here. I wanted a very natural looking nose, not to look "doll-like" or like I had a rhinoplasty. Same for lip filler. I felt like both were done taking exactly what I wanted into account and the overall symmetry at the end for my nostrils was excellent - my nose had been broken and before surgery lack of symmetry was a big issue. I believe it required different degrees of cutting for each nostril so I'm very impressed that the end result's symmetry appears less than 1mm different from one another, that's a huge improvement from before. The shape is really nice and I was impressed that after surgery the packing was done in such a way that I was able to breathe through my nose the whole time, even during my recovery.

Terrible surgeon. Will not take the time to speak with you, when he does he knows limited English and is very very rushed. The first time me he gave me results that were so drastic I looked like a pig or someone from who-ville. I had to pay for a second surgery for him to give me my old nose but even worse! (Again super rushed, had zero time to make a decision). Absolutely awful experience. Scary. He refused to even try to fix my nose now for another 6 months. Even though I offered to pay again. Have to date and see friends humiliated with a half finished face. Go to someone with talent and who actually cares. He doesn’t. You are just a number to the surgeons there.

FAQ about Male Rhinoplasty in Mexico

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Are there specific pre-surgery preparations or restrictions I need to be aware of before traveling to Mexico?

Pre-surgery preparations include avoiding certain medications like aspirin that can increase bleeding risk and refraining from smoking at least two weeks prior. You should also arrange all necessary travel documents and accommodations well ahead of time.

What should I do if I experience post-surgery issues once back in my home country?

If you experience issues post-surgery, contact your surgeon immediately for advice. Additionally, have a local healthcare provider available who can assess your condition if urgent care is needed.

How do follow-up appointments work once I return home after surgery in Mexico?

Follow-up appointments can often be conducted virtually via video calls. Ensure that your surgeon provides detailed post-operative instructions and remains accessible for any questions or concerns once you return home.

What are the costs involved beyond the surgery itself, such as travel and accommodation?

Beyond surgery costs, you should budget for travel expenses, accommodation for at least a week, meals, and transportation within Mexico. Some clinics may offer packages that include these services at an additional cost.

How can I verify the accreditation and reputation of the medical facility in Mexico?

Check if the facility is accredited by international organizations like JCI. Research patient reviews and testimonials online and inquire about the facility's safety protocols and success rates.

What are the potential complications that might arise after returning home from surgery?

Potential complications include infection, nasal obstruction, or dissatisfaction with aesthetic results. It's important to have a plan for follow-up care with a local healthcare provider who can address any issues promptly.

Will my health insurance cover any part of the procedure if it's done in Mexico?

Most health insurance plans do not cover elective cosmetic procedures performed abroad. It is crucial to check with your insurance provider beforehand to understand your coverage options.

What is the typical duration of stay required in Mexico for a male rhinoplasty procedure?

The typical stay in Mexico for male rhinoplasty is around 7 to 10 days. This allows time for pre-surgery consultations, the procedure itself, and initial post-operative recovery and follow-up appointments.

Are there any language barriers I should be concerned about when communicating with medical staff?

Many medical staff in Mexico's top clinics speak English fluently, especially those catering to international patients. It's advisable to confirm language proficiency during initial consultations to ensure clear communication.

What should I know about the recovery process after male rhinoplasty in Mexico?

Recovery from male rhinoplasty typically takes 1 to 2 weeks for initial healing, with full results visible after 6 to 12 months. Swelling and bruising are common initially, and patients are advised to avoid strenuous activities for at least 4 weeks.

How do I ensure the surgeon is qualified and experienced in male rhinoplasty procedures?

Verify that the surgeon is certified by recognized bodies such as the ISAPS or the Mexican Association of Plastic, Aesthetic, and Reconstructive Surgery (AMCPER). Look for surgeons with extensive experience specifically in male rhinoplasty and check patient reviews and before-and-after photos.

What are the risks associated with having male rhinoplasty in Mexico?

Risks of male rhinoplasty in Mexico include infection, bleeding, and anesthesia complications, similar to those in other countries. Choosing a board-certified surgeon can help mitigate these risks. It's essential to follow post-operative care instructions to minimize complications.
