"I am very happy for getting to know BOOKIMED, professionals really work there, and most importantly, they are not indifferent people
I have breast cancer and I went through chemotherapy in Moscow. Six sessions have passed. It was very difficult to tolerate these procedures. A doctor in Kazakhstan said that this is enough, it is necessary to switch to tableted chemistry. And Moscow offered to continue doing chemotherapy. Opinions are divided. It was necessary to find a third party. I accidentally found your site on the Internet. Ekaterina Koliko wrote very quickly. The benevolence of Katyusha was immediately arranged towards her. She asked me what I would like to go to. I said that I want to go to the Severance clinic in Korea. Katyusha approved my choice. I sent all the necessary documents and Katyusha quickly redirected everything to the clinic. They began to wait for the invitation. For some reason (and for what I already knew in the clinic), there was no invitation. I am very grateful to Katyusha that she was in touch all the time, supported me, gave me hope. We arrived in Seoul in the morning, we were met by a transfer, brought to the hotel. After lunch, they were already in the clinic, I began to take tests. Constantly with me was one of the translators. Girls translators are great fellows, these are Lida, Olesya, Sofia, Tatyana, Alena. Any question could be addressed, they always prompted. They are professionals. Always with a smile, polite, with enormous patience, and most importantly, they understand that they work with a special audience, with people who did not come to rest. Someone to find out the diagnosis, and someone to do the operation. Thank you so much to the girls. The clinic was impressive. Doctors are professionals. The equipment is super. I got the opinion of a third party, it coincided with the opinion of a doctor from Kazakhstan. I was prescribed a prescription, I bought medicines at the pharmacy and started drinking on arrival home. I also want to write about Darina, who was engaged in transfer (the transfer to the clinic was very convenient and met and carried out), the selection of the hotel was also always in touch, and if I had any questions, she quickly answered them. I want to say that I am very happy for getting to know BOOKIMED, professionals really work there, and most importantly, they are not indifferent people. I am grateful to the Almighty and all who were near me. And the words of the doctor gave me inspiration and inspired great hope, for the sake of these words it was worth a long way to go. Once again, many thanks to all.

My recommendations to friends, acquaintances only this Clinic! The prices are reasonable
Good day! I would like to share my impressions of being in the clinic. Thanks to the coordinators, the staff of the international clinic center, all wishes were taken into account. Special thanks to the attending physician, the procedure was perfect, the staff is very attentive, courteous. They are located in a 5-bed room, but at the same time there is no discomfort, food can be chosen taking into account personal taste preferences (Korean, European cuisine) and at the same time satisfying and varied. I can say one thing, there is no limit to my gratitude, my recommendations to friends, acquaintances only this Clinic! The prices are reasonable.

"The results were unbelievably positive!"
The staff is nice, but everything is on stream, as it does not take my problem seriously, as much as I would like! After my husband insistently said that it would be necessary to do so, so this, then after that we were heard.

FAQ about Lymphoma chemotherapy in Republic of Korea

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What are the survival rates for lymphoma treated with chemotherapy in South Korea?

South Korea reports high survival rates for lymphoma, with a general 72.9% 5-year relative survival across all cancers. Specific subtypes like MALT lymphoma reach 98.6% survival. Outcomes for Diffuse Large B-cell Lymphoma (DLBCL) improved to over 61% following the adoption of R-CHOP chemotherapy protocols.

  • Subtype variations: MALT lymphoma survival exceeds 97% over 10 years with modern chemotherapy.
  • Treatment impact: Adding rituximab to standard CHOP regimens increased DLBCL survival by 12%.
  • Advanced therapies: Combining chemotherapy with stem cell transplantation boosts T-cell lymphoma survival to 57.8%.
  • Early-stage outcomes: Early detection of Hodgkin lymphoma results in survival rates reaching up to 95%.

Bookimed Expert Insight: High patient volumes at Seoul centers correlate with superior survival outcomes. Severance Hospital and Samsung Medical Center treat over 6 million patients combined annually. This massive scale allows oncologists to refine R-CHOP and ABVD protocols, maintaining success rates that rival or exceed global benchmarks.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize that early diagnosis at major Seoul hospitals leads to 80-90% survival. Many note that Korea's efficient, tech-driven medical system ensures no missed chemotherapy cycles.

Which hospitals are considered primary centers for lymphoma chemotherapy in South Korea?

South Korea’s primary centers for lymphoma chemotherapy include the Big 5 university hospitals in Seoul, led by Samsung Medical Center and Asan Medical Center. These JCI-accredited facilities integrate advanced hematologic Malignancy Centers, offering specialized R-CHOP protocols and stem cell transplantation for aggressive subtypes.

  • Samsung Medical Center: Ranked 1st in Asia-Pacific oncology, serving over 2,000,000 patients annually with presidential standards.
  • Asan Medical Center: South Korea's largest multidisciplinary hospital, globally recognized for high-volume complex hematologic case management.
  • Severance Hospital: A JCI-certified pioneer featuring a dedicated patient navigator system specifically for international oncology.
  • Seoul National University: Operates a specialized Hematologic Malignancy Center focused on precision chemotherapy and clinical trials.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While all Big 5 hospitals offer elite care, Severance Hospital stands out for international logistics. Their patient navigator system manages the complex scheduling required for multi-cycle chemotherapy. This significantly reduces the administrative burden for patients traveling from abroad compared to larger, higher-volume public centers.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize the efficiency of the international clinics, noting that having translated medical records ready significantly accelerates treatment planning. Many also highlight the seamless transition from intensive chemotherapy to stem cell transplants at Asan Medical Center.

Are advanced therapies such as CAR-T cell therapy or heavy ion therapy available for lymphoma in South Korea?

South Korea provides advanced CAR-T cell therapy and heavy ion therapy for lymphoma. Major Seoul-based hospitals like Samsung Medical Center and Severance Hospital utilize these precision treatments for relapsed diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. These facilities hold Joint Commission International and KOIHA accreditations.

  • CAR-T availability: Available at Samsung Medical Center for relapsed or refractory lymphoma.
  • Heavy ion centers: Severance Hospital (Yonsei) launched the first operational carbon-ion facility.
  • Clinical certifications: Top facilities maintain Newsweek-ranked status and ISO international quality standards.
  • Treatment hubs: Procedures concentrate in Seoul at high-volume clinics with 1,400+ doctors.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Samsung Medical Center and Severance Hospital represent the highest concentration of specialized cancer technology in Korea. While Severance leads in heavy ion therapy, Samsung serves over 2 million patients annually. Their high volume translates to significant experience with complex hematologic cases. Patients should prioritize these Seoul-based giants for the newest treatment protocols.

Patient Consensus: Patients report that while revolutionary therapies are domestically available, waitlists at major Seoul hospitals are often long. Many advise getting multiple assessments at different clinics to clarify immediate therapy options.

What documentation is required for international patients to receive chemotherapy for lymphoma in South Korea?

International patients must provide a medical visa (C-3-3 or G-1-10), an official hospital invitation, and a doctor's letter confirming the treatment plan. Essential clinical documentation includes English-translated pathology reports, biopsy slides for local re-verification, and recent PET or CT scans from specialized oncology centers.

  • Visa documentation: Provide a valid passport and hospital business registration for medical visa applications.
  • Financial verification: Submit stamped bank statements showing at least $10,000 to cover chemotherapy cycles.
  • Clinical records: Include detailed pathology reports and original biopsy slides for mandatory Korean lab re-testing.
  • Legal requirements: Assign an English-speaking guardian or official translator for signing medical consent forms.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data from top-tier institutions like Severance Hospital and Samsung Medical Center shows they prioritize patients who submit pathology results 2 months early. Since these JCI-accredited centers often require local re-verification of slides, early digital submission secures treatment slots faster and prevents diagnostic delays upon arrival in Seoul.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize bringing physical biopsy slides rather than just digital reports, as Korean specialists frequently conduct their own lab analysis. Having cash reserves for upfront payments is also recommended to streamline the initial admission process.
