Univ. Prof. Dr. Georg Schatzl is a leading Austrian urologist and surgeon, internationally recognized for his expertise in urologic oncology, reconstructive urology, and andrology. With more than three decades of medical and academic experience, he is regarded as one of Vienna’s foremost authorities in both surgical and conservative management of urological diseases.
He studied medicine at the University of Vienna, where he graduated in the 1980s, and began his specialization in urology at the Vienna General Hospital (AKH). Early in his career, he focused on male health and oncologic urology, developing advanced techniques for prostate, bladder, and kidney surgery.
1980s – Completed medical studies and started residency in urology at the University of Vienna.
1990s – Specialized in urologic surgery and oncology, focusing on prostate and bladder cancer, kidney tumors, and reconstructive procedures.
2000s – Became Associate Professor at the Medical University of Vienna and an active researcher in andrology, sexual medicine, and urinary tract reconstruction.
2010s – Led numerous international studies on urologic cancer therapy, minimally invasive surgical approaches, and the long-term outcomes of prostate treatments.
Today – Serves as a senior consultant at Wiener Privatklinik and other Viennese medical centers, performing complex urologic oncology surgeries, laparoscopic procedures, and male reproductive surgeries.
Prof. Schatzl has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and contributed to international guidelines on urologic cancer and male sexual health. His scientific interests also include functional urology and improving patient quality of life after surgery.
