Advanced Cholesterol Reduction Therapy: LDL Apheresis (lipoprotein apheresis, lipid apheresis)
This package is designed for patients with significantly elevated LDL cholesterol levels who are seeking an advanced therapeutic approach to reduce cardiovascular risk and improve lipid profile. It may be particularly beneficial for patients with familial hypercholesterolemia, treatment-resistant hypercholesterolemia, elevated lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)], premature cardiovascular disease, and/or those who are unable to achieve target lipid levels despite lifestyle modifications and conventional medical therapy.
Elevated LDL cholesterol is a major risk factor for atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease. Over time, excessive LDL cholesterol and other atherogenic lipoproteins may lead to an increased risk of coronary artery disease, heart attack, stroke, and peripheral vascular disease. Some patients have genetically determined lipid disorders that result in persistently high cholesterol levels despite optimal treatment.
The core of this package is LDL Apheresis (also called lipoprotein apheresis or lipid apheresis). LDL Apheresis removes or reduces LDL cholesterol, lipoprotein(a), and other atherogenic lipoproteins from the bloodstream. Depending on the individual patient profile, a single treatment can significantly reduce circulating LDL cholesterol and lipoprotein(a) levels. LDL apheresis is recognized internationally as a therapeutic option for selected patients with severe lipid disorders and high cardiovascular risk.
At Modern Apheresis (Nowoczesna Afereza), all procedures are performed using state-of-the-art European apheresis technology and sterile single-use filtration systems. Each patient receives a personalized treatment plan based on their medical history, lipid profile, cardiovascular risk factors, current medications, and treatment goals. Throughout every procedure, patients remain under continuous supervision of experienced physicians and qualified medical staff to ensure the highest standards of safety, comfort, and care.
Package Includes
Before your arrival, our medical team will review your medical documentation, laboratory results, cardiovascular history, and current treatment plan. You will receive an online consultation with a physician experienced in apheresis therapies to determine whether LDL apheresis may be appropriate for your individual situation.
Upon arrival in Warsaw, comprehensive blood testing will be performed, including evaluation of your lipid profile and other relevant laboratory parameters. Following laboratory testing, a second consultation will be conducted to discuss the results and finalize your treatment plan. The following day, you will undergo one LDL apheresis procedure.
Suggested Schedule
Prior to arrival, online consultations and review of medical documentation are completed remotely.
Day 1: Arrival in Warsaw.
Day 2 early morning: Comprehensive blood testing.
Day 3: LDL apheresis procedure.
Optional Services
Additional LDL apheresis or Double Filtration Plasmapheresis (DFPP) procedures may be arranged if medically appropriate. Hotel accommodation, airport transfers, and translation services are available upon request but are not included in the package price.
Note:
The suitability, frequency, and expected benefits of LDL apheresis vary between individuals and are determined following a medical evaluation. LDL apheresis should be considered as part of a broader cardiovascular risk reduction program that includes appropriate medical therapy, lifestyle modification, and regular physician follow-up.
