I was admitted to a hospital for the first time, and as an international student living in a foreign country, I was honestly very scared. I didn’t know what was wrong with my body or how I would heal. My Hausarzt recommended I go to the emergency center, where I spent about 4 hours on a Monday evening. The medical team did all the necessary tests, and later I was told I needed to be admitted.
I stayed in the hospital for 4 days. The hospital staff were very kind and helpful. Although my German isn't very good, the doctors explained everything to me clearly in English, which made me feel safe and understood. Some nurses didn't speak much English, but they were so compassionate and made every effort to communicate with me using simple words and gestures. The rooms,. corridors and everything was very clean.
Each morning, tests were done, and the doctors made their rounds to check on patients. Any time I needed something, I could press the call button, and someone from the staff would arrive within minutes.
During my stay, I received 3 meals a day and was even given a Speisekarte (menu) to choose my food from. The food was good, and I was also allowed to eat meals prepared by friends. Visiting hours were from 1–7 PM, and visitors were welcome.
Overall, I felt very well cared for during a difficult time. I’m truly grateful to the team at Markus Krankenhaus for their kindness and professionalism.
