Brooklyn Abortion Clinic: more details about the clinic

United States of America, New York
Brooklyn Abortion Clinic is a private ambulatory surgery center in Brooklyn, New York. Established in 1982, it operates as a New York State-approved facility focused on women's reproductive and gynecological healthcare. The clinic offers services in a private office setting designed for comfort.

Accreditations and Standards

The clinic holds The Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval for Ambulatory Surgery Accreditation. This certification confirms continuous compliance with rigorous performance and safety standards. The facility is also ACR Gold Seal Accredited by the American College of Radiology, so ultrasound imaging meets high standards for accuracy.

Board-certified gynecologists manage both routine and complex reproductive needs. Specialists provide care for patients with special needs and those requiring second-trimester services.

Reproductive Health and Abortion Care

The clinic offers both surgical and non-surgical pregnancy termination options. Medical pathways match each patient's clinical needs and pregnancy stage:

  • One-day abortion for eligible patients
  • Two-day pathway for later in-clinic terminations
  • Non-surgical medication options
  • Second-trimester abortion care up to 24 weeks

Before any procedure, patients have an individualized session. Staff explain the process and answer questions during this pre-operative assessment. The clinic encourages a follow-up visit within two weeks to monitor recovery.

Gynecology and Plastic Surgery

The facility offers diagnostic and therapeutic gynecological procedures. Surgeons perform LEEP to treat abnormal cervical cells and offer Novasure for permanent removal of the uterine lining. Outpatient surgeries include tubal ligation, cryosurgery, and cervical biopsies.

Specialists also perform aesthetic and functional gynecologic plastic surgeries:

  • Labiaplasty to alter the labia minora or majora
  • Hymenectomy (removal of hymen tissue)
  • Septate and Microperforate Hymenotomy
  • Breast augmentation and reduction

Recovery after hymenectomy is typically fast. Most patients return to normal activities within a few days. The medical team provides specific guidance on activity restrictions.

Diagnostic Technology

The clinic uses 3D Ultrasound imaging for diagnostic accuracy. This technology supports both reproductive care and gynecological assessments. For breast health, specialized X-ray machines perform mammography screenings with low-dose radiation.

Services for Patients

A multilingual staff supports the clinic's diverse patient base. Interpreters and coordinators assist in several languages:

  • English and Spanish
  • Russian and Ukrainian
  • Creole, Farsi, and French

Eligible patients in the Brooklyn area can receive free transportation to and from the facility. The clinic also arranges Uber transportation if requested. These services help with coordination before and after procedures.

If it wasn’t for the amazing team at Dr. Bronfman’s office, I honestly would not be giving this experience four stars. I have been seeing Dr. Rainer since I was in my late 20s, and I am now 51. There is no question that he is an excellent doctor, but unfortunately, his ongoing lack of time management has become extremely frustrating and, at this point, unacceptable. Last week, I had my annual appointment scheduled for 1:45 PM. Dr. Rainer did not come in until approximately 3:30 PM. By that point, my blood pressure was elevated, and I was extremely frustrated. I understand that medical situations can arise and that doctors can run behind, but this has happened to me repeatedly. It has occurred more than three times, so I can no longer consider it a one-time occurrence. Then, yesterday, I was scheduled for a medical procedure at 11:45 AM. Once again, Dr. Rainer did not arrive until approximately 2:30 PM. I had already gotten dressed and was prepared to cancel the procedure and come back another day because I was so frustrated and had other important commitments. Thankfully, the incredible staff stepped in. Scott, Mya, and the wonderful nurses in the back—unfortunately, I don’t remember the Guyanese nurse’s name—went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of. They were even prepared to contact Dr. Bronfman so that the procedure could be completed, and to my surprise, Dr. Bronfman was able to perform it. Dr. Rainer eventually arrived, but by that point, the staff had already gone out of their way to make sure I wasn’t inconvenienced even further. I truly want to recognize this team because they completely changed what could have been an extremely negative experience. They listened to me, reassured me, made me feel heard, and most importantly, made sure I received the care I came for. I am extremely grateful to Scott, Mya, Dr. Bronfman, and the entire nursing team for stepping up when they did. That being said, Dr. Rainer’s repeated lateness needs to be addressed. Being delayed once or twice because of an unexpected medical situation is understandable. But when a pattern develops, it affects everyone—not just the patient, but the entire staff and the other patients waiting to be seen. What concerns me most is that it has almost become a running joke among the staff when patients ask whether Dr. Rainer is in the office because everyone seems to know that he is routinely running late. That should not be normal or something that patients and staff have to accept. If a doctor is consistently late for procedures, it inevitably affects the patients scheduled afterward. People’s time matters. Patients have jobs, families, responsibilities, transportation arrangements, and other medical appointments. We should not have to sit for hours wondering when we will finally be seen. After years of seeing Dr. Rainer, I have tried to overlook this pattern, but I can no longer do so. I will be switching back to Dr. Bronfman because this experience has made me realize how important it is for me to have a physician who respects not only my health but also my time. I genuinely appreciate the entire team for turning a very frustrating situation into a positive experience. They demonstrated professionalism, compassion, patience, and genuine concern for me as a patient. They deserve recognition for that. Dr. Rainer, I sincerely hope you take this feedback seriously. We all make mistakes, but when you know better, you should do better. I hope this is an opportunity to recognize how your time management affects your patients and your team. Everyone’s time matters.

I had a great experience. I was very nervous but the entire team, including the receptionist, was incredibly kind, professional, and patient. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed and cared for. Everyone answered all of my questions with so much grace, which really helped ease my anxiety. What I had to get done took under 10 minutes but prep was under three hours, and throughout the entire time I was supported by different members of the team, including the anesthesiologist, nurses, sonogram tech, and doctors, who walked me through each step. That level of communication made everything feel smooth and reassuring. At the end of my session, they provided me with tea. I’m not sure if it was because I hadn’t eaten for several hours beforehand, but it was honestly the best tea I’ve ever had—I’m convinced it was made with love. Thank you for creating such a comfortable and supportive experience. I’m truly glad I chose this facility to support my needs.

If you are looking for compassionate and trauma informed healthcare, it is not here. Like mentioned in other reviews, the receptionist that calls you before you go in is rude and very callous. How come my insurance is accepted and it covers the services, but I’m told I have to pay upwards of almost 950 out of pocket? I was able to go to Planned Parenthood where they actually ran my insurance eligibility and my co-pay was $45. I was also in crisis as this was a potential life threatening emergency and still the receptionist didn’t seem to care even when I told her. Please save your time and go straight to Planned Parenthood. You will be meet with the urgency and care that you deserve. And to the office, do better.
