CCV Montpellier (Clinique du Parc): more details about the clinic

France, London

CCV Montpellier is a specialized medical center established in 1994 in Montpellier, France. It operates within Clinique du Parc, a private multi-specialty facility on the banks of the river Lez. This location is less than 10 minutes from the city center. The center is recognized as the birthplace of the Prodisc® L total lumbar disc replacement system.

Surgical Infrastructure and Professional Training

The facility has 220 hospital beds for surgery and recovery. The broader medical team at Clinique du Parc consists of 200 doctors. They treat more than 30,000 hospitalized patients every year.

CCV Montpellier is a global training hub for spinal specialists. Since its creation, the center has trained more than 500 surgeons in disc replacement techniques. These specialists travel from the Americas, Asia, and the Middle East. Training occurs through the CCV Research Institute and focuses on motion-preserving spine surgery.

Advanced Spinal Surgery and Disc Replacement

The clinic focuses on motion-preserving solutions for disc-related pain and radiculopathy. Its flagship procedure is the Prodisc® L total lumbar disc replacement surgery. The center performs over 800 of these procedures annually.

Surgeons use a small abdominal incision of 5–8 cm to access the spine. This approach avoids cutting through back muscles or spinal nerves. The degenerated disc is removed and replaced with an artificial implant to maintain natural mobility.

In addition to disc replacement, the surgical team offers:

  • Discectomy for herniated disc removal
  • Minimally invasive spinal fusion (spondylodesis)
  • Foraminotomy to relieve pressure on spinal nerves
  • Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion (ACDF)
  • Scoliosis surgery

For patients who are not candidates for surgery, the center provides alternative care. These include physiotherapy, pain medication, and steroid injections to manage symptoms.

Diagnostic Requirements and Technologies

The diagnostic process begins with an online surgical assessment to determine eligibility. Specialists provide a surgical prognosis within 10 days of receiving the required medical data. The center uses several diagnostic tools for precise treatment planning:

  • Lumbar MRI scans (must be less than six months old)
  • Lumbar CT scans for detailed bone structure analysis
  • Abdominal ultrasonography
  • Electrocardiogram (ECG) for cardiac health checks
  • Pre-operative blood tests

Patients over 60 undergo a mandatory cardiac assessment before surgery. This keeps those under general anesthesia safe during spinal procedures.

International Patient Services and Recovery

The center provides a structured care pathway for international patients through the SpinePro service. This includes a short 3-night hospital stay in executive rooms. These recently renovated private rooms include air conditioning, TV, and WiFi access.

Recovery follows the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocol. Patients begin physiotherapist-guided mobilization on the day of surgery. After hospital discharge, patients spend 5 days recuperating in a nearby partner hotel. A dedicated service organizes these logistics:

  • Flight organization and local transfers
  • Daily nursing visits during the hotel stay
  • On-site English-speaking patient managers
  • Home nursing support after the return journey

Long-term follow-up occurs at specific intervals. Patients meet with the surgeon one week after the procedure. Subsequent consultations occur at two months and one year, either in person or online. SpinePro arranges local follow-up scans as required by the medical team.

After living with severe back and leg pain for four years and trying countless treatments without success, I eventually underwent lumbar disc replacement surgery. The procedure gave me my life back. Within months, I was pain-free and able to return to the activities I love. One year later, I completed the Marathon des Sables in Peru, and since then I have also finished the Ultra Marin, a 175 km endurance race. Because I know how overwhelming and isolating the journey can be for spine patients, I created SpinePro to help others navigate their treatment options, connect with experienced specialists, and make informed decisions about their care. My own experience showed me that recovery is possible and that the right treatment can be truly life-changing. If SpinePro can help even one person regain their quality of life, then it has fulfilled its mission. "I never felt better. I got completely repaired. No pain at all whatsoever."

I'm a 57-year-old male engineer. For many years Suffered from lower back pain, five years ago was diagnosed with disc degeneration and with osteoporosis. in the past three years suffering with A disc bulge, Causing severe, sciatica down my right Leg. Making me unable to sit down and drive to work without a lot of pain. Had to give it up. Found a more local job with the ability to work from home. Had been doing a lot of research over the years on surgeries for artificial disc replacement but was Nervous. So, when I was offered on the NHS a micro discectomy Procedure. I took the risk of having that done. As I had done more research that if it did fail. That there was still. The possibility of having. An artificial disc replacement done privately. Unfortunately. The operation did fail After being at work for only three weeks, the bulge came back with a vengeance giving me lower back pain more sciatica in my leg and even down to my foot, which I'd never had before Making me unable to work. So, the decision was made. To go for an artificial disc replacement. The next question was which manufacture of ADR I wanted Fitted, as an engineer that was the pro disc L that has a long history and in my opinion is well Designed. So, now finding a surgeon, started getting in contact. with a couple of company's but they didn't give me much confidence I felt they were quick to give Package costing without a consultation. And not having any concern, over whether my osteoporosis would be a problem. That is when I came across Spine Pro Limited. who arranged Consultation with Surgeon DR Gregory, Edgar. Rosa. To go through all my imaging and if Osteoporosis would be a problem and how it could be managed in the procedure. 26th of August 2025 Me and my wife were picked up by minibus and taken to Gatwick Airport Flight to Montpellier. We were greeted at the airport by Sonia Barden with a Chauffeur they took our luggage to the minibus, with about 20 minutes. Drive To the hospital. Sonia checked us in at the hospital. And took us up to. The Room, which was well presented, with all amenities to hand. There I met Dr Grégory EDGARD-ROSA, he guided me through what was going to happen in my surgery. Then I met the anaesthetist. He was very thorough. and talk me through the procedures for the next day surgery. The next day after a good night's sleep feeling confident that the surgery would help me, had a showerer with pre surgery Anti bacteria Shower gel and then into the new surgery gown. In a little while I went down to theatre where I was put under the next minute, I woke up in recovery. I was quite amazed that the only pain I felt was in my belly, then was taken back up to my room, and later DR Gregory, Edgar. Rosa said that my surgery had all gone to plan, and I should expect a good result. Later that day I saw a physiotherapist, who explained how I should move when getting out of bed and took me for a brief walk down the corridor what really surprised me how mobile I was. Spend the rest of the time in the hospital enjoying the good food they put on for us and regularly seeing their physiotherapist making Progress with longer walks down the corridor and up and down the stairs. Sonia Burden kept check on me by phone and was in every day to see us too, bring us little things to help with are stay and we can't thank her enough for making our stay so pleasant. Had a good send-off home with medical supplies, with direct line to private Doctor in UK and daily visits for blood thinning injection and ever other day for dressing changing. All heard up nicely, fully of Gabapentin nerve blocker, feeling in lot better spirits now and road the too recovery.
