Surgeons perform advanced procedures such as Vagus nerve stimulation and multiple subpial transections for epilepsy. The institute also runs the Cleveland Clinic Brain Study. This first-of-its-kind research project tracks patients for 20 years to identify new treatment targets.

Heart, Vascular, and Thoracic Services

The Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute records over 900,000 cardiovascular patient visits annually. Surgeons perform more than 7,800 cardiothoracic and vascular operations each year. The program tracks mortality data and Society of Thoracic Surgeons ratings to maintain quality. Integrated teams handle both medical management and complex surgical interventions.

Endocrinology and Metabolic Care

The Endocrinology & Metabolism Institute includes over 300 physicians and researchers. The team provides integrated care for thyroid disease, diabetes, and obesity. Specialists use radio-frequency ablation for liver tumors and advanced surgical methods for parathyroid conditions. ★★★★★ Worth Every Mile from Florida I’m 63 and living with aortic stenosis, and for the past two years I’ve traveled from Florida to Cleveland Clinic for my care. Every visit has reminded me why the trip is worth it. The main reason I come is the Cardiology Department, especially Dr. Brian Griffin and his team. Their expertise, thoroughness, and the time they take to explain my condition give me real confidence in my care. I never feel rushed, and I always leave knowing exactly where I stand. What truly sets Cleveland Clinic apart, though, is the people. From the front desk to the nurses, technicians, and support staff, everyone is genuinely friendly, kind, and pleasant. That warmth makes a long trip away from home feel easy. I’ve received care at several hospitals in the Tampa area, including Tampa General, AdventHealth, and St. Joseph’s. Cleveland Clinic surpasses them all by far, in every respect. If you’re facing a serious heart condition, I can’t recommend it highly enough. Thank you to Dr. Griffin and the entire staff for the outstanding care.

Cleveland Clinic Main Campus is an outstanding medical facility. I had open heart surgery here with Dr. Vargo, and everything went exactly as planned from start to finish. The entire team was professional, calm, and incredibly supportive throughout the process. My recovery was smooth, and I was able to return to full health without complications. The level of expertise and coordination across the staff was exceptional, and I always felt I was in the best possible hands. I’m deeply grateful for the care I received and highly recommend Cleveland Clinic Main Campus for anyone needing serious cardiac treatment.

CLE Clinic is terrible. Go elsewhere. They have very few General Practitioners taking new patients. You wait for months, and if you manage to get in, your provider will likely leave the practice before your next appointment. This happened to me multiple times. I had a primary care physician, and they left. I scheduled with another primary care physician, but that doc left before I even had the chance to see them. My spouse and mother are also dealing with the same situation with the same doctors. I then found a third primary care physician, who postponed my appointment right before it was scheduled. Then two days before that rescheduled appointment, the Clinic called to tell me this same doctor was extending leave again and could only see me two months from now. By that point, I had already been waiting six months just to get another primary care provider. I’ve seen this movie before – this doctor is going to leave the Clinic soon, just like the last two docs. I’m also overdue for diagnostics but can’t get in to see a primary care physician to schedule them. Every time I try, I’m pushed back again and again. Why are all these doctors quitting? They leave all the time, often before patients even get to see them, and it pushes people farther back in line every time. This tells me the Clinic is not a place doctors want to work. Another issue: patients have to “establish care” with every new primary physician they are assigned, even though the physicians are leaving and the patient is already in the system. It’s difficult to get the longer appointment that’s needed for this. Then they tell you this appointment is just to establish care—not a wellness visit or annual checkup. Really? Why not? Cleveland Clinic churns patients despite not having enough providers to churn them. On top of all of this, the financial/billing side is completely broken. They keep telling me I’m out of network and to call financial services for “help,” even though I’ve been in the Clinic’s system for over a year and a half with the same insurance. They should know by now that I’m in network. This happens every time I try to schedule, and since they keep delaying or cancelling my appointments, I end up going through this runaround repeatedly. I’m switching to UH (University Hospitals of Cleveland) and hoping for better – fingers crossed.

I sought behavioral health care during a very difficult time in my life, hoping to find support, guidance, and a provider I could trust. Unfortunately, my experience with Joy King left me feeling unheard and unsupported. I understand that not every provider is the right fit for every patient. However, when I expressed concerns and struggled to feel comfortable opening up, I did not feel those concerns were truly acknowledged. Mental health treatment requires trust, and for me, that trust never developed. What was most disappointing was feeling that my perspective and concerns were not fully understood. As a patient seeking help during a vulnerable period, I needed empathy, communication, and a sense that my voice mattered in my own care. As a result of this experience, I am now in the difficult position of having to seek behavioral health care outside of the clinic. Finding help when you're already struggling can be overwhelming, and this experience has made that process even more discouraging. Reaching out for mental health support takes courage, and feeling unheard when you do can be incredibly disheartening. I am sharing my experience in the hope that future patients are met with compassion, understanding, and a care experience that helps them feel supported on their path to healing.
