Intraoral Scanning in Dr. Fernando Giovanella Clinic
About the clinic
Intraoral scanning at Dr. Fernando Giovanella Clinic in Blumenau, Brazil, provides a high-resolution 3D digital model of the teeth and gums. This diagnostic examination uses the Cerec Omnicam scanner to create a precise virtual map of the mouth for dental planning. The clinic maintains international quality standards with TEMOS and ISO 9001 accreditations.
Technology and diagnostic capabilities
The clinic uses the Cerec Omnicam system to capture data with sub-millimeter precision. This method replaces traditional physical impressions that often require messy putty or trays. The scan records the structure of the bone, neighboring teeth, and soft tissues in a single session.
- Virtual patient creation. The software combines scan data to build a 3D digital representation of the patient.
- Guided surgery planning. Doctors use the digital model to plan implant placement and other surgical steps virtually.
- Digital-first protocol. The intraoral scan integrates directly into the clinic’s computerized diagnostic workflow.
- Same-day visualization. Patients can view their 3D mouth model on a screen immediately after the scan.
Clinic standards and setting
Dr. Fernando Giovanella Clinic holds ISO 9001 certification for its management and service quality. It also carries TEMOS accreditation, which focuses on international dental standards and patient safety. These certifications confirm that the diagnostic imaging equipment and protocols meet global benchmarks. The scanning process is non-invasive and performed in an outpatient setting during a standard dental visit.

Dr. Fernando Giovanella Clinic: more details about the clinic
What the clinic treats
Full-arch rehabilitation of the upper and lower jaw for patients who were told they do not have enough bone for implants, or whose bone grafts or implants failed. Depending on the CT scan, the implants are anchored in the front of the jaw (All-on-4 or All-on-6), in the cheekbone (zygomatic implants) or in the pterygoid region, in many cases without bone grafting. Dr. Giovanella chooses the technique after reviewing the patient's CT scan.

How a case is planned
Planning starts with the patient's CT scan (DICOM). The surgery is planned in 3D and transferred to the mouth with a custom surgical guide (SkinGuide®). Zygomatic cases are first rehearsed on a 3D-printed replica of the patient's bone. The patient receives the treatment plan and the price in writing before booking flights.
Anesthesia and where surgery takes place
Most surgeries are performed at the clinic under intravenous sedation given by a physician anesthesiologist, after a pre-anesthetic assessment. Selected cases are performed under general anesthesia at Hospital Unimed Blumenau, a JCI-accredited hospital.
Prosthesis options
Resin (included in the base price): a definitive fixed bridge of 12 teeth is placed 3–5 days after surgery, in one trip, with a check-up and reline at 3–4 months. Zirconia (optional upgrade): a 3D-printed fixed provisional bridge is placed within 3–5 days, and the zirconia bridge is fitted on a second one-week trip after 3 months.
Registration and languages
The clinic is registered with the Santa Catarina Regional Dental Council (EPAO 1586). Care is provided in English and Portuguese.
