For breast augmentation, the procedure is usually done under general anaesthetic and takes about 1 ½ hours. It involves a one night stay and leaves a transverse scar in the axilla and a longitudinal scar from the axilla to the elbow. The stitches will all be on the inside and there will be tapes and dressings for 10 days. Patients have to wear anti-thrombose stockings for 10 – 14 days.
