How it works

Bookimed is free for patients – clinics pay us a commission, and you pay the clinic its own price with no markup. Five steps to your breast augmentation in Thailand:

  1. Share your case

Tell us about your goals and share photos of your chest from the front and sides, with your body turned slightly.

  2. Get treatment plans

Your coordinator finds clinics that match your needs and helps you choose. Your preferred clinics then send personalized treatment plans and quotes for you to compare.

  3. Plan your trip

We set treatment dates that work for you and help arrange your flights and accommodation. If needed, we request a visa support letter from the clinic.

  4. Visit the clinic

The clinic team performs your breast augmentation on the agreed dates. We support you throughout your trip.

  5. Recover at home

You can fly home 7–14 days after surgery, and your result settles over 3–6 months. Your coordinator stays in touch and helps arrange a follow-up if you need one.

Some clinics ask for a deposit. A $200 or €200 deposit paid through Bookimed comes off your clinic bill and is refundable up to 10 calendar days before your visit. A deposit paid to the clinic follows its own terms.

A city tells you how you will travel and where you will recover, but not how your breast augmentation will go. Surgeons and clinics in the same city differ in experience and in how they handle aftercare, so choosing them matters just as much as choosing the city.

Breast augmentation recovery timeline: what to expect week by week

After uncomplicated surgery, you can usually fly home 7–14 days later, once your first wound check shows healing and your surgeon clears travel. You can usually return to desk or light work in 5–10 days. Light walking is encouraged early, while strenuous upper-body and chest exercise usually resumes after 4–6 weeks. Your final result usually becomes evident in 3–6 months as swelling resolves and implants settle.

  1. Days 0–3

You go home the same day, and short assisted walks are encouraged. Expect chest soreness and swelling, wear your support bra, and sleep on your back with your upper body elevated.

  2. Days 4–14

Pain eases, and you may resume light daily activities or desk work while wearing your support bra and avoiding heavy lifting. Your first wound check is usually 5–10 days after surgery, and you may fly home 7–14 days after surgery once healing is confirmed and your surgeon approves travel.

  3. Weeks 2–6

Swelling gradually decreases as your implants begin to settle. Increase activity gradually, but avoid strenuous upper-body exercise until your surgeon clears you, and skip underwire bras if advised.

  4. Months 3–6

Your implants continue to settle, and their final shape and softness become evident.

When to contact your clinic: Contact your clinic for fever or chills, pus or abnormal incision drainage, or if one breast suddenly becomes firmer and painful. For chest pain or sudden breathlessness after a long flight, seek emergency help locally.

100% recommend this clinic
On 19.02.2025 I had breast augmentation surgery. Beforehand, I received a detailed consultation from professionals Dr Anychit Kitsombud, Dr Elena Goldobenko and nurse Maricor. The doctor helped with the choice of size and shape of implants, told me in detail about the operation, consequences, recovery process, gave clear recommendations. The surgery was easy, the medical staff was always in touch, they helped, cared. Dr Elena is always in touch, controls the recovery process, gives recommendations. Definitely, the choice of this clinic was the right decision for this operation. I am very happy with the result. 100% recommend this clinic. Professionalism, safety, care - B Care!

For real I have 0 complaint at all! Highly recommend!
Travelled all the way from Singapore to Thailand because of the great reviews I read online. Here's what I experienced: There was no pain at all during the surgery. By day 6, I was moving around just fine (I did my surgery on a Saturday and flew back to Singapore the following Friday with no issues, even while carrying my luggage). By day 9, all the pain was gone, and I could carry my heavy school bag to school the whole day without any problem. I was honestly quite surprised at how fast I recovered, especially after reading that some people take one to three months to fully recover. That's one of the main reasons I recommend this clinic. The breast implants turned out really well. For real I have 0 complaint at all! Highly recommend!
Today is the 9th day from the day of my surgery and I’m alrdy recovered from the painfulness.
No complain at all, all good

The surgeon and staff were very capable and provided solid care from start to finish
The main thing I worried about was the recovery, and it is definitely a process. At 15 days post-op, sleeping on my back is hard, and the pain is still moderate, though it's manageable. It's not easy. I’m glad that my nipple sensitivity feels normal, which was a specific concern since my surgeon used an incision around the nipple. The surgeon and staff were very capable and provided solid care from start to finish. My best advice for anyone else is what got me through the tougher moments: have patience and trust the procedure.
Very warm gesture I have been experienced from doctor and staff very cooperative and responsible.

My surgeon handled that really well — he was upfront about how long healing would take and took time to explain and mark where the scars would sit before we even started
Recovery and scarring were my main concerns going in, and my surgeon handled that really well — he was upfront about how long healing would take and took time to explain and mark where the scars would sit before we even started. The whole body lift happened in one surgery, so it's still too soon to know how the final results will look. The clinic experience itself was a bit mixed — support after the surgery wasn't great, and I barely heard from anyone after I was discharged. On the bright side, there were no hidden or extra costs. My advice to anyone considering this: ask the practical questions upfront — whether the clinic provides meals or you'll need to order food yourself, and whether your surgery and recovery stay happen at the same facility or you'll be moved between a clinic and a hospital.
The doctors work was excellent
The clinic wasn't great for overnight stays and although some of the nursing staff were good at their tasks, it could take a long time for a need to be seen to though. I think the team there need to communicate better within themselves as to a client's needs that may need to be met by a specific team member, ie: if you inform reception that you require assistance that can only be given by a nursing attendant, you could wait for hours for that to be communicated and carried out.

The clinic staff were competent, and the surgeon was clear in our consultations
Waking up, I felt groggy but managed. The clinic staff were competent, and the surgeon was clear in our consultations. The incision was placed under the breast, which is what I wanted. I am still in the early recovery phase, and it has its challenges. My pain has lessened to a mild discomfort, but sleeping through the night is difficult, and my nipples are uncomfortably hypersensitive. Overall, the medical care was solid, though the recovery process itself is demanding. It’s a serious undertaking.

I am delighted that the scars are well hidden and now they are fading away
Dr has a lot of experience in breast implants, he removed my old implants together with capsulatomy and replaced them with new implants with very little scarring. I had waited two weeks to give a proper analysis of his work,, and am delighted that the scars are well hidden and now they are fading away.
Dr has many years of experience in doing implants and he had to remove my old implants and a capsulectomy procedure and putting in new implants with little scarring.

I had my surgery at B.care on Bukimed's recommendation. Before the surgery, I asked the doctor 3 times what complications there could be, but the interpreter and (assistant surgeon) "did not understand the question" said that there could be problems "ONLY if I do not do massage after surgery. After my breast augmentation, my pocket tore and my implant went down. The doctor told me to wear a rubber band from the post-operative underwear - on top, which provoked the breast drooping even more. Then I was taken to the breast correction, which was done under local anesthesia, just injected the breast with Ledocoin, cut the stitches, tightened and sewed back. It was very painful and I experienced a huge amount of stress that I still remember to this day. This kind of surgery should be under general anesthesia. After the correction, I have again lowered one breast, of course, not so much, but still, very ugly looks. Also initially the doctor placed the implants very low, because of this there is little volume on top, it looks like not round but drop-shaped implant (which does not fit my body type). All postoperative rules and recommendations and followed, wore underwear and massages. The doctor said that this is because I "lay on the chest" shifting the responsibility on me. But, to surf I was allowed in 2.5 months, and there you need to lie on the chest. I learned about the fact that you can not lie on the chest for a year, when I had a torn pocket. I do not recommend the clinic and the surgeon. Very disappointed.

FAQ about Breast augmentation in Thailand

Is it safe to have breast augmentation in Thailand?

Breast augmentation in Thailand is safe when performed at JCI-accredited hospitals by surgeons certified by the Medical Council of Thailand. Top facilities maintain success rates above 95% using FDA-approved implants like Motiva and Mentor, supported by advanced technologies like 3D modeling and general anesthesia overseen by specialists.

  • International standards: Facilities like Asia Cosmetic Hospital and Yanhee hold JCI and ISO certifications.
  • Surgeon expertise: Surgeons like Dr. Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul have performed over 20,000 successful aesthetic procedures.
  • Hospital stay: Patients typically stay 1–2 days in the hospital for immediate post-operative monitoring.
  • Recovery period: Most clinics require staying in Thailand for 7–14 days to ensure travel clearance.

Bookimed Expert Insight: The safest way to book is choosing clinics that include cardiologist consultations and 24-hour nursing. Asia Cosmetic Hospital and Wansiri Hospital provide these services, significantly lowering risks compared to budget-only clinics. This high-level clinical oversight explains why top-tier Thai centers maintain lower complication rates despite higher patient volumes.

Patient Consensus: Many patients report surprisingly fast recoveries, often returning to normal activities within 6–9 days. However, travelers warn that choosing unregulated clinics can lead to severe infections requiring expensive revisions back home.

Will I be able to breastfeed after breast augmentation?

Most women successfully breastfeed after breast augmentation in Thailand. Research indicates that saline and silicone implants do not compromise milk quality or safety. Success depends on surgical techniques like submuscular placement and inframammary incisions, which preserve mammary glands and nerve pathways essential for lactation.

  • Incision location: Inframammary incisions under the breast carry the lowest risk for milk duct damage.
  • Implant placement: Submuscular or dual-plane techniques maintain higher lactation success rates than over-the-muscle options.
  • Surgical approach: Specify gland-sparing techniques during consultations to protect vital milk-producing tissues and nerves.
  • Nerve preservation: Retaining full nipple sensation serves as a primary indicator of healthy lactation signaling.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data from ID Clinic Bangkok shows surgeons like Dr. Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul have performed 20,000 operations. This high volume often leads to refined techniques that prioritize both aesthetics and functional outcomes. When choosing a package, look for inclusive 3D modeling to visualize how different implant sizes might affect breast tissue pressure.

Patient Consensus: Patients report manageable recoveries with some returning to light activity within 9 days. Many emphasize the importance of discussing lactation goals early to ensure the surgeon selects the most protective approach.

How long do I need to stay in Thailand after breast augmentation?

Most patients must stay in Thailand for 7 to 14 days after breast augmentation. This period allows for 1 to 2 nights of hospitalization followed by recovery in a hotel. You must remain until your final follow-up and stitch removal, typically occurring 7 to 10 days post-surgery.

  • Hospital stay: Expect 1 to 2 nights of monitoring under general anesthesia before clinical discharge.
  • Stitch removal: Surgeons usually remove non-dissolvable stitches between day 7 and day 10.
  • Flight safety: Most clinics require 7 days minimum before issuing a fit-to-fly certificate.
  • Combined procedures: Stays extend to 14 days for surgeries involving a breast lift.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many clinics offer 7-day packages, choosing a facility like Wansiri Hospital or ID Clinic Bangkok often includes a longer hotel stay for a reason. Dr. Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul has performed over 20,000 operations and emphasizes that the 7-to-10-day window is when most swelling stabilizes, making it the safest time to clear international patients for long-haul travel.

Patient Consensus: Patients report feeling mobile within 48 hours but emphasize staying the full week for peace of mind. Some travelers successfully flew home by day 7 and were even able to carry light bags shortly after arriving.

Can I combine the surgery with a holiday?

Combining breast augmentation with a holiday in Thailand is possible but requires a recovery-first approach. You can enjoy low-key relaxation after your initial 7-day healing phase. However, activities like swimming, sunbathing, and heavy sightseeing are restricted for 4 weeks to prevent infection and scarring.

  • Surgery timing: Schedule the procedure immediately upon arrival to maximize supervised medical recovery time.
  • Hospital stay: Plan for 1–2 days of hospitalization followed by 7–10 days of local rest.
  • Activity limits: Avoid beaches, pools, and direct sun for 4 weeks post-surgery to ensure safety.
  • Travel clearance: Obtain surgeon approval before long-haul flights to minimize risks like blood clots.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many seek a beach vacation, Thailand’s tropical heat can actually increase post-op swelling and bruising. Data from clinics like Wansiri Hospital shows that premium packages now include up to 11 nights in a hotel. This trend suggests that a successful surgical holiday is really a recovery retreat in air-conditioned comfort rather than a traditional tourist trip.

Patient Consensus: Patients often feel mobile enough to move around by day 6, but warn that carrying luggage or heavy bags remains difficult. Most agree that renting an air-conditioned space near the clinic is more practical than staying at a busy tourist resort.

What are the most reputable clinics or surgeons for breast augmentation in Thailand?

Reputable clinics for breast augmentation in Thailand include JCI-accredited facilities like Asia Cosmetic Hospital and Wansiri Hospital, known for 99% success rates. Leading surgeons such as Dr. Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul and Dr. Saran Wannachamras utilize advanced Motiva and Mentor implants with 3D modeling technology to ensure precise, natural-looking results.

  • Top-rated hospitals: Asia Cosmetic Hospital and Yanhee International Hospital maintain JCI accreditation and ISO certifications.
  • Expert surgeons: Dr. Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul has performed over 20,000 procedures since 2000.
  • Advanced technology: Wansiri Hospital and ID Clinic Bangkok offer 3D modeling for surgical previews.
  • High success rates: Asia Cosmetic Hospital reports a 0% complication rate for breast surgery patients.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows a significant trend toward the Motiva Ergonomix series at premium centers like Wansiri Hospital. While these packages often exceed $12,500, they include up to 11 days of hotel stay and full-board nutrition. This extended recovery support is a key differentiator from boutique clinics that only provide 1-night hospitalization.

Patient Consensus: Patients frequently highlight the surprisingly fast recovery, with many returning to normal city activities within 6 to 9 days. They emphasize prioritizing JCI-accredited facilities to ensure a smoother experience and higher safety standards for long-term implant health.
