We met during my father-in-law’s angiography with Dr. Tuna. Aside from her experience and knowledge, her warm friendliness and consistently positive attitude won our hearts. After that, for routine checkups, our entire family started going to her. A modest doctor who does not leave her work to chance, follows her treatments and tests, and explains every situation to the patient in detail. My doctor also advised that I needed an angiography, and she went ahead with the procedure. Her approach before the procedure—comforting the patient and the patient’s relatives—her reassurances during the procedure that gave the patient confidence, and her information and guidance after the procedure were all extremely good. We met with Hocam Tuna in March this year, after my 79-year-old father was diagnosed with a heart attack. He was urgently referred to a research hospital. Because there was a problem with his kidneys, after the Anjiyo (angiography) procedure he would become a 90% dialysis patient, and we were told, “You decide whether to do the Anjiyo.” Following a recommendation, we contacted Hocam Tuna. He explained that although the Anjiyo procedure was mandatory, we also needed to protect his kidneys—and that he would follow a different approach than the standard procedure used in a normal Anjiyo. He told us that they would admit the patient to the hospital the day before, provide kidney treatment, and then perform the Anjiyo after the treatment. With his humane approach and satisfying, reassuring explanations, he gave confidence to both us and my father. He planned the treatment together with the Nephrology specialist and performed the Anjiyo one day later. In order to protect the kidney, he opened nearly 100% blocked three vessels by using the minimum amount of contrast and doing it in the shortest possible time, placing a maximum of 4 stents. He is a physician who managed the entire process one-to-one: having the duty nurse at midnight receive the EKG results and telling her what to do, following the treatment personally, and even if there wasn’t a problem, visiting at least 4–5 times during the day (to use an expression, “it’s not a figure of speech”—he was like a whole Atom Ant). As a result of the treatment, my father’s heart-related complaints have completely gone away. His kidney values returned to their pre-Anjiyo level, and he did not experience any trouble. We would like to thank Hocam very much—for his humanity, his friendly smile, and, most importantly, for never withholding his knowledge and experience in his field from patients and their relatives.
