Tummy tuck and liposuction in Mexico can offer significant cost savings, but it's crucial to weigh the potential benefits against the risks.

Pros Cons
Lower costs. Procedures typically cost $7,800–$8,200 in Mexico versus $15,000+ in the US, offering savings of up to 50%. Safety concerns. Potential risks include infection rates of 3–5% and complications like seroma or hematoma, similar to rates in the US when performed by qualified surgeons.
Qualified surgeons. Surgeons are certified by the Mexican Council of Plastic Surgery (CMCPER), many with US or European training and 10–30 years of experience. Follow-up care. Managing post-op care from abroad may be challenging. Some clinics offer telemedicine or local partnerships to assist with recovery.
Modern facilities. Accredited hospitals in hubs like Tijuana and Cancun use FDA-approved materials, VASER liposuction devices, and may hold JCI or ISO certifications. Different regulatory standards. COFEPRIS standards differ from the FDA, but top clinics meet international norms and use FDA-cleared devices for added safety.
Comprehensive packages. Many clinics offer all-inclusive packages with pre-op tests, medications, transfers, and 24-hour nursing, streamlining the process for international patients. Travel-related risks. Long-distance travel after major surgery can increase risks of blood clots and delayed healing, but clinics provide guidance on safe travel timing and recovery stays.
Personal coordinator support. Bookimed’s medical coordinator helps compare clinics, request personalized quotes, and manage treatment logistics at no additional cost.

It's crucial to thoroughly research clinics and verify surgeon credentials before making a decision. When performed by qualified professionals in reputable facilities, tummy tuck and liposuction in Mexico can offer high-quality results at reduced costs.

Thanks Bookimed for hooking me up with that young, fine Dr
I was quite impressed with Dr Cortes, Claudia and the doctors medical assistant, they were all super nice. I loved everything about the clinic and the hospital where my procedure was performed. Dr.Cortes coordinator, Claudia helped me find a.clean, nice, reasonable priced hotel room that was suitable for my budget. I would highly recommend Dr. Cortes and his team. Thanks Bookimed for hooking me up with that young, fine Dr.!

I like how fast and easy it was from the start. The surgical facility was small but worked fine. I did not like the post op care. The night nurse was terrible. Her patients were not a priority. Post op care was not made clear. I would have preferred more detailed instructions on after care. I was left guessing about bandages, sprays, medications and scar treatment. Doctor repaired a hernia, of which I was grateful, but would have preferred to have price list in case this occurred so I could have been prepared financially. I felt like price was just made up. So I don't know if I was overcharged. I liked Mexicali as it was a nice quiet clean town. All in all experience was not bad and the price was affordable.

I had a great experience with my Dr Israel VillaLobos and His staff Elsa and Dr Abraham were very good to me! My surgery was successful! I got lipo with tummy tuck and I'm so glad I chose Dr Israel! The nurses were very attentive and sweet and helpful. The communication was good in expressing what I needed or how I felt and I will recommend this hospital again. Thank you Elsa and Dr. VillaLobos!
