Firstly, the examination was at 2 pm, the day before the examination they wanted to postpone it to 11 am. I arrived from another country early at 12 pm. I filled out the documents in 30 minutes and sat in the corridor until 5 pm (I didn't eat anything for almost 24 hours). It was agreed to do an ultrasound and gastroscopy with a biopsy. They only did a gastroscopy. No one returned the money for the biopsy. At first they served foreign clients, they told me to wait until the end of the working day. Horrible attitude. I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!! Ukrainians for sure... they have a different attitude towards foreign guests..)))

Expert Overview about Gastritis Treatment in Poland

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What diagnostic tests for gastritis are available in Poland?

Diagnostic tests for gastritis in Poland include non-invasive screenings and advanced endoscopic procedures. Patients can access gastroscopy with biopsy, Helicobacter pylori breath tests, and stool antigen analysis. Facilities like University Hospital in Krakow and KCM Clinic provide these services using ISO-standard imaging and laboratory equipment.

  • Endoscopic gastroscopy: Visualizes stomach lining for inflammation and allows for tissue sample collection.
  • H. pylori testing: Includes urea breath tests, stool antigen tests, and blood serology screenings.
  • Laboratory analysis: Complete blood count (CBC) and biochemical analysis identify anemia or inflammation.
  • Diagnostic imaging: Abdominal ultrasound or CT scans help rule out other digestive conditions.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Poland is a high-volume medical hub, ranking 3rd globally in our network for patient requests. Centers like the University Hospital in Krakow handle over 450,000 patients annually. This massive scale often leads to highly specialized departments, but international patients should prioritize clinics like KCM Clinic. They specifically design programs for foreign guests to manage logistics more efficiently than general public hospitals.

Patient Consensus: Patients note it is important to confirm if a biopsy is included during the gastroscopy. Many emphasize that fasting and clear communication about sedation help manage anxiety during the procedure.

What medications are commonly prescribed for gastritis in Poland?

Polish doctors commonly prescribe proton pump inhibitors like omeprazole, pantoprazole, and esomeprazole to manage gastritis. Treatment typically includes acid suppressants and mucosal protectors. If Helicobacter pylori is present, specialists at multidisciplinary centers like University Hospital in Krakow use specific antibiotic eradication regimens.

  • Proton pump inhibitors: Omeprazole and pantoprazole are first-line choices for 4–8 weeks.
  • Eradication therapy: Triple therapy combines a PPI with amoxicillin and clarithromycin.
  • Mucosal protectors: Medications like rebamipide or Alugastrin coat and protect the stomach lining.
  • Diagnostic requirements: Breath or stool tests for H. pylori are standard before long-term PPIs.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data from major Polish centers like KCM Clinic shows that private specialists often favor esomeprazole over generic omeprazole for better absorption. While the University Hospital in Krakow handles 455,000 patients annually with traditional protocols, smaller private clinics frequently provide more tailored 10-day bismuth quadruple therapies. Patients should confirm if biopsy costs are bundled into their gastroscopy package, as these are often billed separately.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that while acid blockers work quickly, stopping them after long-term use can be difficult. Many emphasize the necessity of taking high-quality probiotics during and after antibiotic treatment to avoid lasting digestive issues.

Can I find specialized diet plans for gastritis in Polish clinics?

Polish medical centers provide specialized gastritis nutrition plans through gastroenterology departments and clinical dietitians. Facilities offer diagnostic screenings including biochemical blood analysis and gastroenterologist consultations. Personalized diets focus on mucosa reconstruction and enzymatic balance using localized clinical guidelines.

  • Dietary protocols: Clinics use easily digestible plans to limit stomach acid stimulants.
  • Meal structure: Guidelines recommend 5–6 small meals daily to reduce gastric pressure.
  • Diagnostic testing: Specialists utilize gastroscopy and blood analysis to tailor nutritional exclusions.
  • Accredited care: Centers like KCM Clinic maintain ISO standards for gastroenterological check-up services.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Poland scales its gastroenterology services effectively. University Hospital in Krakow manages 455,000 patients annually. This high volume across 103 departments suggests robust diagnostic infrastructure. Specialized centers like KCM Clinic attract 700 international patients yearly. They often bundle consultations with comprehensive diagnostics located near major hubs like Wroclaw.

Patient Consensus: Patients find that private clinics often provide printed plans. They note that prioritizing H. pylori testing is often more effective than following strict diets alone.

Are there language support services for international patients in Poland?

International patients in Poland access language support through dedicated international departments and English-speaking medical staff at private clinics. Major centers often provide personal coordinators. Specialized agencies also offer on-site or remote medical interpreting for consultations and examinations across the country.

  • International departments: Clinics like KCM Clinic offer specialized assistance for foreign patients.
  • Language proficiency: Private hospitals typically employ English-fluent doctors and receptionists as standard.
  • Certified translation: Agencies provide sworn medical document translations for insurance or records.
  • Personal coordination: Some clinics assign assistants to escort patients during registration and testing.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While large institutions like University Hospital in Krakow serve over 450,000 patients annually, smaller private centers often provide more tailored language support. KCM Clinic serves 700+ international patients yearly from the UK and Germany. This high volume of foreign guests usually correlates with more experienced English-speaking administrative teams.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that while younger doctors are often fluent, administrative staff might have limited English. Many travelers recommend bringing printed medical records translated into Polish to avoid communication gaps with support personnel.
