How it works

Bookimed is free for patients – clinics pay us a commission, and you pay the clinic its own price with no markup. Five steps to your TLIF in Thailand:

  1. Share your case

Tell us about your back problem and share your latest scans and medical reports.

  2. Get treatment plans

Your coordinator finds clinics that match your needs and helps you choose. Your preferred clinics then send personalized treatment plans and quotes for you to compare.

  3. Plan your trip

We set treatment dates that work for you and help arrange your flights and accommodation. If needed, we request a visa support letter from the clinic.

  4. Visit the clinic

The clinic team performs your TLIF on the agreed dates. We support you throughout your trip.

  5. Recover at home

You can fly home 10–14 days after surgery, and fusion matures over 6–12 months. Your coordinator stays in touch and helps arrange a follow-up if you need one.

Some clinics ask for a deposit. A $200 or €200 deposit paid through Bookimed comes off your clinic bill and is refundable up to 10 calendar days before your visit. A deposit paid to the clinic follows its own terms.

How much does a Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion cost in Thailand?

Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion (TLIF) in Thailand typically costs from $11,000 / ฿374,000 to $16,500 / ฿561,000. The final price depends on the hospital tier, complexity, and number of spinal levels involved. Patients save around 84% compared to the US, where this procedure costs $86,000 / ฿2,924,000 on average. Packages generally include surgeon fees, implants, anesthesia, and a hospital stay of two to five nights.

  • Hospital tier: Top international facilities in Bangkok often charge 40% more than standard private clinics.
  • Multi-level fusion: Treating two or more spinal levels increases costs for hardware and operating time.
  • Navigational technology: Using O-Arm systems or robotic assistance adds a premium to the baseline fee.
  • Recovery needs: Extended stays in intensive care or additional physical therapy sessions will increase totals.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Choosing specialized spine centers in Bangkok offers significant value for complex cases. BNH Hospital provides advanced 3D O-Arm navigation for spine surgery. This technology allows for incisions as small as 1.5 cm. Smaller incisions typically lead to faster recovery and shorter hospital stays. This facility is also Joint Commission International (JCI) accredited. Investing in clinics with JCI certification ensures international safety standards for major spinal procedures.

How to choose a Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion clinic in Thailand

For transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion in Thailand, agree your plan with your clinician, confirm who will operate, assess credentials and facility readiness, and assign follow-up after you return.

  1. Prior consultation. Before travel, agree the plan with your own clinician and have the doctor abroad review your medical history.
  2. Who performs it. Confirm that the doctor you meet will carry out transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion, rather than another team member.
  3. Credentials and facility. Request details on specialty training, experience, whether the surgeon is licensed by the Medical Council of Thailand, and the hospital’s standards, equipment, and emergency support.
  4. Home follow-up. Agree who will manage your ongoing care after you return, so responsibility is clear.

Bookimed lists only verified clinics and publishes reviews only from patients who booked and visited the clinic. Read the reviews, not only the score, because one score mixes the doctor, the room, the translation, and the trip.

My coordinator, Veronica, was absolutely amazing, providing 100% full support from the very first message I sent
If you're looking into this, my main takeaway is about the coordination. My coordinator, Veronica, was absolutely amazing, providing 100% full support from the very first message I sent. Every single question I had about my CT of the paranasal sinuses was answered, and the replies were always very, very fast. This responsiveness made the entire process feel well-managed and clear. Everything was straightforward. I am now in early recovery, and the service provided by the coordinator, the staff, and the clinic itself was consistently good from start to finish.
