It was a terrible experience which I never want to go through again. Upon arrival at the hospital, the consultant , Jeab who led me there was not present to receive me. Instead I was attended by the medical sstaff who flatly shot down the agreed quotations offered by Jeab and even said they do not need the VDO anymore so they could not offer me what Jeab did and I was told I had to pay 3 times the proce of what I was offered before. Consequent to the price dispute, there were lots of bleak moments between the consultant and the medical staff internally then I was made to wait for over two hours then they suddenly reversed to ask for VDO compromised on an agreed price. I repeated said no to revealing my face for the VDO and the secretary Kimmy assured me my face will not be shown on camera. Prior to seeing the doctor, I was told to made payment first. For every doctor consultation, I had to go to the cashier to complete the payment and I was seeing two different doctors meant I had to repeat same process twice touring the entire medical centre so many times. What was most stupid was that I was never informed that I had to pay out of pocket for the Covid-9 test which I deem really unfair when there was konsixh prior information and they just dumped all the hidden cost on me. I only did the arm Vader+body tite along with pick laser for vaginal and I was made to go from building to building spending 7 hours there the entire day is really uncalled for!!!
The attending doctors are both very professional.
Medical staff lacks the professional etiquettes

FAQ about Stem Cell Therapy in Thailand

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

How do I verify if a stem cell doctor in Thailand is qualified?

Qualified stem cell doctors in Thailand hold licenses from the Medical Council of Thailand and undergo international specialized training. Verified practitioners typically possess credentials from the Royal College of Surgeons Thailand and the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Specialized expertise in regenerative medicine often involves fellowships in the USA, Italy, or South Korea.

  • Specialized board certification: Leading doctors hold Medical Council of Thailand certifications in orthopaedic surgery or dermatology.
  • International fellowship training: Top practitioners completed advanced studies in Boston, Miami, Seoul, or Verona.
  • Facility accreditation: Reputable doctors practice at clinics with JCI, ISO, or Royal College of Surgeons Thailand approval.
  • Scientific specialization: Qualified experts focus on specific applications like regenerative medicine, anti-aging, or reconstructive orthopaedics.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many doctors focus on general medicine, the most qualified Thai stem cell experts often hold dual credentials in primary surgery and regenerative medicine. For example, Dr. Chen Chaicharncheep is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon with an international fellowship in aesthetic science. This combination of surgical precision and regenerative training is a key indicator of a highly qualified practitioner.

Patient Consensus: Patients note it is important to see the doctor’s credentials clearly displayed on the hospital wall. They felt relieved when doctors explained the science behind the cells in simple terms. Many were surprised by how thoroughly the clinical teams checked their medical history before starting any treatment.

Which doctors are considered top specialists for stem cell therapy in Thailand?

Top stem cell specialists in Thailand are board-certified experts focusing on regenerative medicine and orthopedics. These doctors often hold international credentials. Dr. Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul performed 20,000+ treatments at ID Clinic. Dr. Chen Chaicharncheep is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon in Bangkok.

  • Specialized expertise: Dr. Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul focuses on complex chronic conditions and longevity.
  • International training: Dr. Pimchya Panichkul completed dermatology and cosmetic surgery fellowships in the USA.
  • Surgical precision: Dr. Pongsathorn Sitthisen specializes in hand microsurgery at Menness Wellness Clinic.
  • Aesthetic integration: Dr. Chen Chaicharncheep combines stem cell therapy with advanced body contouring.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows a strong trend of localized specialization in Bangkok clinics. Doctors like Dr. Puchapon Supawong and Dr. Schawanapanna Promjhundra integrate stem cells into aesthetic medicine. They use advanced anatomy training to improve facial rejuvenation results. This focus on cosmetic science sets Thai clinics apart from general regenerative centers.

Patient Consensus: Patients note the seamless coordination between orthopedic specialists and regenerative doctors. Many were surprised by the level of personalized attention during pre-treatment assessments. They highlight feeling very comfortable with the modern facilities in Bangkok and Chiang Mai.

What specific questions should I ask a stem cell doctor during a consultation?

When consulting with stem cell specialists in Thailand, you should verify the cell source, laboratory purity standards, and the doctor specializations. Successful outcomes depend on precise delivery methods and personalized protocols tailored to your condition rather than standardized packages.

  • Cell source and testing: Ask if cells are autologous or donor and request purity test results.
  • Surgical delivery methods: Confirm if specialists use ultrasound or fluoroscopic guidance for accurate cell placement.
  • Doctor training: Inquire about specific fellowships in regenerative medicine or certifications from international boards.
  • Case volume: Request the number of patients treated for your exact condition with this protocol.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows that Thailand is a hub for specialists who bridge standard surgery with regenerative medicine. For example, Dr. Thongchai Theerajumyaporn at Intrarat Hospital holds fellowships in spine surgery from UC Davis alongside stem cell certifications from Australia. This allows patients to receive integrated care where stem cell therapy supports surgical recovery or serves as a functional alternative based on orthopedic research.

Patient Consensus: Patients note it's important to ask for the exact cell count you will receive during the procedure. Some were surprised to learn that donor cell quality can vary significantly without independent lab audits. Others mention feeling more confident when doctors provide a clear follow-up plan for monitoring their response to the treatment.

Do Thai stem cell doctors provide follow-up care once I return home?

Thai doctors provide structured follow-up care for international stem cell patients through digital platforms. They monitor long-term regenerative progress and adjust protocols remotely via telemedicine. Most clinics establish check-ins at specific intervals to track biomarkers and orthopedic or aesthetic improvements from home.

  • Telemedicine support: Doctors use Zoom or WhatsApp for remote consultations after you return home.
  • Progress monitoring: Clinics often schedule follow-ups at 1, 3, 6, and 12 months post-treatment.
  • Local coordination: Specialists can share medical reports with your home-country doctor for ongoing care.
  • Recovery guidance: Patients receive digital instructions for physical therapy and diet to follow at home.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thai specialists often hold international credentials that bridge the gap for home-country follow-ups. For instance, Dr. Chen Chaicharncheep at Dr. Chen Surgery Hospital completed fellowships at UC Davis in the USA. Dr. Pimchya Panichkul at Charismma Clinic holds a dermatology diploma from Boston. These global backgrounds help them provide medical reports that align with Western standards for your local physician.

Patient Consensus: Patients note it is easy to stay in touch with their clinical team once they leave. Many are surprised by how quickly doctors answer questions about recovery through messaging apps. They feel more confident knowing their home-country doctor can read the detailed reports provided in Bangkok.

Are virtual consultations available with Thai stem cell specialists before I travel?

Virtual consultations are a standard pre-travel step for stem cell therapy in Thailand. Specialists use these remote sessions to review medical records and determine eligibility before patients book their trip. Leading clinics often require video calls to discuss diagnostic reports like MRI scans or blood tests.

  • Specialist access: Dr. Chen Chaicharncheep at Dr. Chen Surgery Hospital offers online consultations for $40.
  • Remote screening: Doctors review medical history and diagnostic reports to customize regenerative treatment protocols.
  • Eligibility checks: Virtual meetings confirm if stem cell applications are suitable for specific chronic conditions.
  • Travel preparation: These sessions help organize necessary documentation and set realistic therapeutic goals before arrival.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows Thai stem cell specialists often hold international credentials that facilitate remote collaboration. For example, Dr. Thongchai Theerajumyaporn holds certificates from institutions in Australia and the USA. This international training helps doctors bridge the gap between a patient's local medical records and Thai treatment standards during virtual calls.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that video calls helped them feel much more confident about traveling for treatment. Many were relieved to have their scans reviewed by the actual surgeon before flying to Bangkok. They say these sessions made the transition from home to the clinic feel smooth and safe.

Which language skills and international training do Thai stem cell doctors usually have?

Thai stem cell doctors are typically multilingual specialists who combine local medical degrees with advanced training from the USA, Europe, and Australia. Most practitioners are fluent in English and often hold certifications from the American Board of Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine.

  • International fellowships: Surgeons often complete specialized training in the United States, South Korea, and Italy.
  • Advanced credentials: Many doctors hold degrees from Cardiff University or undergo training at Harvard Medical School.
  • Multilingual proficiency: Specialists commonly speak Thai and English, with some clinics offering Mandarin or Arabic.
  • Global research: Doctors frequently present findings at international congresses like IMCAS in Paris and A4M.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thai regenerative specialists often pursue dual international training paths. For example, Dr. Thongchai Theerajumyaporn holds stem cell certifications from both Florida and Melbourne. This pattern allows doctors to integrate robotic surgical precision with advanced biological therapy. Patients benefit from techniques refined across multiple continents under a single treatment plan.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that doctors explain complex biological processes in clear, fluent English. Many felt relieved that their surgeons had studied at the same medical schools they recognized from home. The ability to discuss treatment goals without a translator made the experience much more comfortable.

Will the doctor disclose the limitations of stem cell therapy or promise guaranteed results?

Professional doctors in Thailand prioritize ethical transparency by disclosing the experimental nature of stem cell therapy. They use informed consent to explain that individual results vary. Certified specialists never promise guaranteed outcomes or 100% success rates for these procedures.

  • Informed consent: Doctors explain investigational status and scientific rationale for each treatment.
  • Scientific transparency: Surgeons discuss potential risks like inflammation or infection during consultations.
  • Realistic expectations: Experts clarify that therapy is not a miracle cure for conditions.
  • Credential verification: Top physicians hold American Board of Anti-aging or Thai Board certifications.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows Thai doctors often hold dual qualifications in regenerative and traditional medicine. Dr. Supaporn Sompanwang at Intrarat Hospital combines pediatrics with family medicine. Dr. Chen Chaicharncheep offers specialized consultations for approximately $40 to discuss specific surgical applications. This multi-field expertise helps doctors provide a more realistic view of how stem cells complement standard care.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that doctors in Bangkok take time to explain why results differ for everyone. They feel relieved when physicians focus on manageable goals rather than making grand promises. Many were surprised by the detailed discussions regarding the recovery process.

What is the level of medicine in Thailand?

Healthcare is the key development sector of the Thai government. The Thai authorities are convinced that care for the citizens' health should be an absolute priority of state policy and spend about 25 billion baht for healthcare annually.

As a result, 36,673 medical facilities provide excellent medical care in the country. 64 centers in the Kingdom have certificate of JCI (Joint Commission International), the international improver of healthcare quality and safety across the globe. The index of certificates obtained is the largest. To compare, Israel has 20 JCI-accredited facilities, and Germany — only 10 clinics of this type.

What hotel service is provided here?

In the Kingdom of Thailand, hotels of different price ranges and service levels are presented. The level of Thai hotels is comparable to hotels in Tunisia, Morocco or Egypt. Most tourists choose 4 and 5 star hotels with all-inclusive meals. Such hotels have everything for a comfortable stay: varied food, a large well-groomed territory, animation for children and adults. Some hotels have their own water park, which guests can use for free. Budget travelers can afford to book an economical 3-star hotel with half board or no meals at all.

When is the best time to travel to Thailand?

The main advantage of Thai resorts is the long beach season. On the east coast and west coast the climate features are different, so take it into account when planning the trip. The best time to travel is during the cool and dry season between November and early April. A large influx of tourists is in March-May, when the air temperature is +30°C.

Do I need a visa?
