The team followed through on every detail discussed
Sitting in the consultation room while the surgeon explained the precise use of 50-100 million umbilical cord stem cells gave me a clear sense of the technical path ahead. Fifteen days after the treatment, I am already noticing some improvement in my overall physical state. The application was smooth, and I experienced no injection site reactions or inflammatory flare-ups afterward. Recovery is just beginning. Every interaction with the clinic staff was handled with professional efficiency, ensuring that the logistical side of the medical travel was as controlled as the procedure itself. It is important to stay patient during this early window while the body starts to respond to the cells. The team followed through on every detail discussed.

It was a terrible experience which I never want to go through again. Upon arrival at the hospital, the consultant , Jeab who led me there was not present to receive me. Instead I was attended by the medical sstaff who flatly shot down the agreed quotations offered by Jeab and even said they do not need the VDO anymore so they could not offer me what Jeab did and I was told I had to pay 3 times the proce of what I was offered before. Consequent to the price dispute, there were lots of bleak moments between the consultant and the medical staff internally then I was made to wait for over two hours then they suddenly reversed to ask for VDO compromised on an agreed price. I repeated said no to revealing my face for the VDO and the secretary Kimmy assured me my face will not be shown on camera. Prior to seeing the doctor, I was told to made payment first. For every doctor consultation, I had to go to the cashier to complete the payment and I was seeing two different doctors meant I had to repeat same process twice touring the entire medical centre so many times. What was most stupid was that I was never informed that I had to pay out of pocket for the Covid-9 test which I deem really unfair when there was konsixh prior information and they just dumped all the hidden cost on me. I only did the arm Vader+body tite along with pick laser for vaginal and I was made to go from building to building spending 7 hours there the entire day is really uncalled for!!!

FAQ about Stem cell therapy for Parkinson's disease in Thailand

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Is stem cell therapy a proven cure for Parkinson's disease in Thailand?

Stem cell therapy is not a proven cure for Parkinsons disease in Thailand or globally. Leading medical authorities and the Thai Food and Drug Administration classify these treatments as experimental regenerative medicine. Current therapies focus on managing symptoms rather than reversing the disease.

  • Current status: Treatments remain in clinical trials and are not standard medical practice.
  • Techniques used: Clinics offer umbilical cord, mesenchymal, and peripheral blood stem cell therapies.
  • Regulatory stance: Major agencies warn that commercial infusions lack robust, large-scale clinical proof.
  • Expert oversight: Specialized centers like EDNA Wellness utilize ISO-certified labs for cell processing.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many clinics offer mesenchymal cells, the dosage varies significantly between providers. For instance, ID Clinic Bangkok specifies a 40,000,000 cell count in their packages. Patients should compare these cell counts and ensure the facility holds Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research accreditation for safety.

Patient Consensus: Clinics marketing these procedures as a cure often face criticism for overpromising results. Patients advise verifying if treatments are part of registered clinical trials and consulting neurologists before making large payments.

What are the risks or regulatory warnings regarding stem cell treatments for Parkinson's in Thailand?

Thailand classifies stem cell therapies as advanced therapy medicinal products under Thai Food and Drug Administration oversight. While mesenchymal stem cells are used in research settings, their commercial application for Parkinsons disease remains investigational and lacks conclusive proof of clinical efficacy or neurodegeneration reversal.

  • Regulatory status: Thai FDA classifies manipulated stem cells as advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs).
  • Clinical evidence: Standard-of-care status is not granted as large-scale efficacy trials are ongoing.
  • Biological risks: Potential complications include site infections, headaches, inflammatory reactions, or central nervous system issues.
  • Facility standards: Certifications like ISO 9001:2015 or GMP confirm laboratory quality but not clinical success.

Bookimed Expert Insight: A major differentiator among Bangkok clinics is the level of neurosurgical oversight. While some centers focus purely on wellness, clinics like EDNA Wellness involve neurosurgeons with experience from institutes like the International Neuroscience Institute in Germany. Choosing a facility with surgical specialists rather than general practitioners may ensure better management of complex neurological responses.

Patient Consensus: Many advise treating these procedures as experimental and budgeting for the possibility of zero improvement. Coordination of follow-up care is a frequent challenge for those traveling internationally.

What type of stem cells are commonly used in Thailand clinics for Parkinson's?

Clinics in Thailand primarily use Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs) sourced from umbilical cord tissue or adipose fat to treat Parkinson's disease. These allogeneic cells are selected for their rapid multiplication and low immunogenicity, delivered via intravenous infusion or intrathecal injection to bypass the blood-brain barrier.

  • Cell sources: MSCs are harvested from umbilical cord tissue, cord blood, or patient fat tissue.
  • Administration methods: Doctors use intravenous (IV) infusion or intrathecal injections to target the nervous system.
  • Lab standards: Top facilities use AABB-certified laboratories or GMP-certified standards for processing cellular products.
  • Neurological oversight: Treatment plans are often overseen by neurosurgeons like Dr. Pongwat Polpong at EDNA Wellness.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many clinics offer general regenerative therapy, specific Parkinson's protocols in Thailand often include 40,000,000 to 100,000,000 cells per session. Centers like ID Clinic Bangkok provide these specific cell counts within all-inclusive packages, which helps patients compare the actual dosage value across different providers.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize verifying the exact cellular product, as marketing terms like live cell therapy or rejuvenation vary. They often suggest confirming the delivery method beforehand since intrathecal administration is more invasive than standard IV drips.

What is included in Thai medical tourism packages for Parkinson's stem cell therapy?

Thai medical tourism packages for Parkinson’s stem cell therapy include consultations with neurosurgeons, umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell (UC-MSC) infusions, and laboratory tests. These bundles often cover VIP airport transfers, hotel stays, and specialized physical therapy to support neurological recovery in Bangkok-based regenerative centers.

  • Medical evaluations: Includes neurosurgeon consultations and preoperative blood tests for baseline assessments.
  • Cellular treatment: Typically provides 40,000,000 umbilical cord-derived stem cells via intravenous infusion.
  • Logistics support: Airport-hotel-clinic transfers and medical visa assistance are standard in premium packages.
  • Inpatient care: Stays range from outpatient visits to 4-day hospital monitoring for safety.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows a major price gap between clinics like ID Clinic Bangkok ($5,200) and EDNA Wellness ($15,390). The higher tier often includes neurosurgeon-led care and ISO-certified laboratory preparations. Check if physiotherapy is included, as Vega Clinic bundles these therapies to improve mobility outcomes.

Patient Consensus: Patients value packages that bundle accommodation and transport to simplify travel. Successful experiences often depend on verifying if clinics use fresh or frozen cells before booking.
