What Makes Antonio a Trusted Advisor?
Dr. Antonio Russi Tintoré earned his degree in Medicine and Surgery at the Universitat de Barcelona in 1972 and qualified as a specialist in Neurology and Clinical Neurophysiology. He trained in neurophysiology at Hospital del Mar in Barcelona and worked as a neurologist at the Anti-Epileptic Centre of Barcelona from 1978 to 1986. Since 1987 he has worked with difficult epilepsy at any age, including the surgical programme.
He directs the Epilepsy Russi Institut and the Neurology and Neurosurgery Institute of Barcelona, and has headed the neurology service at Centro Médico Teknon since 1994, where he runs the Epilepsy Unit and the EEG service. He is president of the Spanish Bureau Against Epilepsy, a past secretary and president of the Spanish League Against Epilepsy, and co-chaired the 32nd International Epilepsy Congress. As a Bookimed medical advisor, he reviews epilepsy content for medical accuracy so patients can rely on clear, credible guidance.
“Epilepsy is not one diagnosis with one answer. Before talking about treatment or surgery, you need to understand the specific case – and give the patient an honest prognosis, not a ready-made formula.”
Role on the Medical Advisory Board
Dr. Russi reviews Bookimed's epilepsy content – the one area almost every patient who books him comes for, from drug-resistant seizures in adults to West syndrome in infants. Five decades of running an epilepsy unit shape what he checks: whether a page is honest about how long it takes to locate a seizure focus, what video-EEG monitoring actually involves, and when surgery is and is not on the table. Where a page treats epilepsy as one condition with one answer, he says so.
