What's the cost for Hand surgery procedures in Turkey?

Hand surgery in Turkey typically costs from $1,500 to $2,500. The total expense depends on the specific procedure complexity, the surgical technique used, and whether the case requires microsurgical intervention. Choosing Turkey for these medical procedures often allows for 50-70% savings compared to prices in the US.

Typical Hand Surgery Costs in Turkey

  • Consultation with creation of treatment plan: $100 – $200
  • Revision of MRI results: $100 – $100
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome surgery: $1,500 – $2,500

Most specialized hand surgery centers are located in Istanbul, Ankara, and Antalya. While pricing is competitive across major hubs, cities like Tokat or Usak may offer rates approximately 10% lower than in the capital. Consult with a specialist to get accurate pricing for your specific case.

I would definitely recommend this hospital and all the staff, I could not recommend them highly enough
The great experiance started from pick up from airport with private comfortable taxi to hotel, and the next day the taxi to hospital. The hospital was first class, clean to such a high standard with exceptional treatment and care, from everyone looking after us we could not fault it in anyway. The surgeon, anathesist, nurses and the interpretor, were all amazing, all looked after me so well and discussed everything that was going to happen and carried out several tests, l felt very comfortable in their hands and their hospital, my private room was amazing. My husband stayed in the hospital the whole time with me, where they catered for his needs, sleeping the night and supplying his food and drinks, making us both feel very comfortable. I would definately recommend this hospital and all the staff, l could not reccomend them highly enough. I will if l need more treatment, definately go back there. Finished with private taxi to airport, at no extra cost. Thank you all.
From start to finish l was made to feel very calm and relaxed and at ease all who looked after me were so kind and caring.
There was nothing that l didn't like. It was all amazing.

FAQ about Hand surgery in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Common hand surgeries in Turkey include carpal tunnel release, trigger finger surgery, and fracture repair. Specialized centers in Istanbul use microsurgery and endoscopic techniques. These procedures treat nerve compression, tendon issues, and complex trauma. Surgeons often hold European board certifications and JCI accreditation.

  • Nerve decompression: Carpal tunnel syndrome surgery costs $1,500 to $2,500.
  • Tendon release: Procedures for trigger finger and De Quervain tenosynovitis offer quick recovery.
  • Fracture repair: Surgeons perform open reduction and internal fixation for distal radius injuries.
  • Contracture treatment: Fasciectomy or collagenase injections effectively treat Dupuytren contracture cases.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows a high concentration of hand specialists in Istanbul hospitals like Hisar Hospital Intercontinental. These facilities often combine orthopedic expertise with plastic surgery teams. This multidisciplinary approach is vital for microsurgery. Clinics with 300,000+ annual patients typically offer more refined recovery protocols.

Patient Consensus: Patients note it is important to check if a surgeon has a hand-specific subspecialization. Many highlight that recovery includes physical therapy, which is often bundled into the treatment plan.

Major Turkish hospitals for hand surgery hold Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation. This verifies high safety and quality standards. Surgeons often maintain memberships in the European Board of Hand Surgery (EBHS). Many specialists completed intensive fellowships in the USA or Europe.

  • Clinic accreditation: Memorial Şişli Hospital was the 21st worldwide to achieve JCI accreditation.
  • Specialist credentials: Dr. Erden Erturer has 25+ years of experience in hand surgery.
  • International training: Dr. Murat Ipetci completed specialized hand surgery training at FESSH Academy.
  • Global standards: Anadolu Medical Center maintains a long-standing partnership with Johns Hopkins Medicine.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Our data shows that top-rated clinics like Hisar Hospital Intercontinental handle 250,000+ patients annually. These high-volume centers often have dedicated microsurgery units. This specialized infrastructure is more common in Istanbul clinics than in smaller regional hospitals. Choose facilities with onsite 24/7 coordination for the smoothest experience.

Patient Consensus: Patients note it is important to confirm the surgeon has specific microsurgery experience. One patient mentioned feeling very comfortable because the medical team explained every test clearly. They also appreciated having a dedicated interpreter during the entire hospital stay.

Hand surgery in Turkey is safe for international patients at JCI-accredited hospitals in Istanbul. These facilities follow strict international protocols for microsurgery and nerve repair. Expert surgeons often hold memberships in the Turkish Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery Association. Advanced diagnostics include EOS imaging and MRI revisions.

  • Accreditation standards: Clinics like Hisar Hospital Intercontinental maintain JCI and ISO certifications.
  • Expert surgeons: Dr. Murat Ipetci specializes in microsurgery and nerve injuries.
  • High volumes: Istanbul Florence Nightingale Hospital treats over 300,000 patients every year.
  • Patient support: Top-rated facilities provide 24/7 interpretation and dedicated international patient wings.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows a strong safety pattern at hospitals with high general patient volumes. Clinics like Istanbul Florence Nightingale Hospital manage 300,000+ cases annually. This scale allows them to invest in specialized tech like EOS imaging. This system significantly reduces radiation exposure during hand and bone diagnostics.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that choosing a center with inclusive airport transfers and private rooms makes the recovery much easier. They recommend staying at least 10 days to manage swelling before flying home.

All-inclusive hand surgery packages in Turkey typically cover the surgical procedure, anesthesia, and essential medical supplies. Most clinics include VIP airport transfers and multi-night hotel stays. Pre-operative diagnostics like MRI revisions and treatment plan consultations are standard in these comprehensive Turkish medical offerings.

  • Surgical costs: Packages cover surgeon fees for procedures like carpal tunnel release surgery.
  • Hospital stay: Inpatient care includes specialized nursing and meals for the patient.
  • Logistics: VIP transfers between the airport, hotel, and clinic are standard inclusions.
  • Quality standards: Leading centers like Memorial Şişli Hospital maintain prestigious JCI accreditation.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows that Istanbul clinics with over 100 specialists, such as Hisar Hospital Intercontinental, often bundle more diagnostic tests into their base price. While smaller boutiques might seem cheaper, these larger JCI-accredited hubs frequently include MRI result revisions that others charge for separately.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that private hospital rooms often accommodate companions at no extra cost. It is helpful to confirm if post-operative physical therapy or follow-up X-rays are included before traveling.

Patients should plan to stay in Turkey for 7 to 14 days after hand surgery. Minor procedures like trigger finger release often require 7 days. More complex cases, such as carpal tunnel surgery or tendon repairs, typically need 10 to 14 days for safe recovery. Surgeons usually schedule stitch removal for day 7.

  • Recovery window: Plan 10–14 days for involved work like fasciectomy or microsurgery.
  • Stitch removal: Most clinics schedule this essential follow-up on day 7 post-op.
  • Swelling management: Hand swelling peaks between days 3 and 7 after the procedure.
  • Travel safety: Avoid flying before day 10 to manage pressure changes and discomfort.
  • Clinic credentials: Top centers like Memorial Şişli Hospital hold JCI accreditation for safety.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data from high-volume centers like Medipol Mega University Hospital shows that complex hand cases benefit from multidisciplinary teams. Clinics performing 1,000+ orthopedic surgeries annually often integrate early physiotherapy into the stay. This approach helps patients start rehabilitation before flying home, which significantly improves long-term finger mobility.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize that early travel is uncomfortable because of peak swelling. Many recommend packing a travel pillow to keep the hand elevated during the flight home.

Is post-operative hand therapy provided, or do I have to arrange it myself?

Post-operative hand therapy in Turkey is usually arranged by the patient after discharge. Most JCI-accredited clinics provide initial rehabilitation plans and personalized exercise guides. However, formal long-term therapy sessions with a specialist are rarely included in standard surgical packages. Patients should coordinate with home-based therapists before traveling.

  • Hospital care: Initial wound care and range-of-motion exercises start before hospital discharge.
  • Surgical expertise: Surgeons like Dr. Erden Erturer provide specialized hand and reconstructive microsurgery protocols.
  • Treatment planning: Consultation with creation of treatment plan costs $100 to $200.
  • Rehab equipment: Clinics often provide necessary post-op splints or orthotics for early recovery.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Clinics with high patient volumes, like Hisar Hospital Intercontinental serving 250,000 patients annually, use standardized recovery protocols. These systems ensure you receive a detailed digital or physical rehabilitation folder. This documentation is vital for your local therapist to maintain continuity of care. I recommend sharing this plan with a therapist at home two weeks before your surgery date.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that while surgeons provide helpful home exercise packets, formal professional therapy is an additional responsibility. Many suggest booking a private hand therapist in your home country for a 4 to 12 week program after returning.

Verified patient reviews and before-and-after photos for hand surgery in Turkey are accessible through specialized medical platforms and hospital galleries. Patients can evaluate results from JCI-accredited clinics in Istanbul. These resources showcase successful outcomes for carpal tunnel release, tendon repairs, and complex microsurgery procedures.

  • Hospital galleries: View clinical results at Memorial Şişli or Hisar Hospital Intercontinental.
  • Doctor profiles: Review 25+ years of expertise from surgeons like Dr. Erden Erturer.
  • Verified platforms: Access authentic patient stories and ratings for facilities like Medipol Mega.
  • Video proof: Request live video calls or Reels to verify static result photos.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Our data shows that top-rated clinics often maintain high-volume departments. For example, Hisar Hospital Intercontinental serves over 250,000 patients annually. This volume typically leads to more documented case studies. Patients who choose clinics with 4.7+ ratings, like Memorial Şişli, often find more detailed before-and-after portfolios due to their established international departments.

Patient Consensus: Patients note it is important to request video footage and live calls via WhatsApp. They emphasize checking social media for unedited video proof of hand functionality after surgery.
