Professor Dr. Wolfgang Gstoettner is a leading specialist in ear, nose, and throat (ENT) medicine. He is the Head of the University Hospital ENT Clinic at the Medical University of Vienna. Dr. Gstoettner is known for his pioneering work, including Austria’s first active middle ear and auditory brain stem implantations.
He is an expert in head and neck surgery and has over 30 years of surgical experience. Dr. Gstoettner has held important academic and leadership positions. He served as President of the Austrian Society of Otorhinolaryngology and is a board member of several international ENT organizations.
Dr. Gstoettner has published extensively and is ranked among the top ENT researchers in German-speaking countries. He serves on editorial and advisory boards of major ENT journals. Univ.-Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Gstöttner is a leading Austrian ENT specialist and head and neck surgeon, internationally recognized for his expertise in hearing restoration and cochlear implantation. He studied medicine at the University of Vienna, where he also completed his specialist training in otorhinolaryngology and habilitation. Since 2004 he has been Professor and Head of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at the Medical University of Vienna and Vienna General Hospital (AKH). His clinical and surgical focus includes cochlear implants, implantable hearing systems, middle ear and sinus surgery, laryngeal and head and neck tumor operations, as well as thyroid and parathyroid surgery. Prof. Gstöttner has published widely, leads international collaborations in auditory research, and is known for advancing innovative surgical techniques that improve quality of life for patients with complex ENT conditions.
