Michael Trauner

Michael Trauner sees patients at the Vienna General Hospital, where he treats diseases of the liver and bile ducts. Onja is a professor at the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Medical University of Vienna.

Professor Trauner has established a research group on cholestatic diseases, which studies the causes of biliary tract pathologies, enlargement and fatty liver, as well as methods of their treatment.

The doctor founded the Liver Center at the Medical University of Graz in Austria.

• 1994-1997 - Research Fellow, Department of Internal Medicine and Liver Center, Yale University, New Haven, USA;
• 2000-2005 - Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, 2005-2010 - Professor of Medicine, Clinical and Molecular Hepatology at the University of Graz;
• Since 2010 - Head of the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Medical University of Vienna, Austria.

Education

• 1982-1991 - studies at the Faculty of Medicine and obtaining a doctorate at the University of Graz;
• 1991-2001 - residency in internal medicine and specialization in gastroenterology and hepatology at the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Graz.
