I am a General Surgery Specialist. Since 2006, I have focused my practice on the diagnosis and treatment of hemorrhoids, anal fissures, anal fistulas, pilonidal sinus, and other anal diseases.

Over my nearly 20 years of professional experience, I have managed the examination and treatment processes for thousands of proctology patients applying from Turkey and abroad. Currently, I see my patients at the Avrupa Cerrahi Levent Clinic in Beşiktaş, Istanbul.

My Education and Professional Experience

I completed my medical education at Eskişehir Osmangazi University Faculty of Medicine between 1991 and 1997. I fulfilled my mandatory service in Eskişehir Sivrihisar in 2000. Subsequently, I served at the 112 Emergency Services and Afyon State Hospital.

I received my specialist title in General Surgery in October 2006. Additionally, I have completed certified training in the fields of endoscopy and colonoscopy.

In 2006, I founded the Avrupa Cerrahi Clinic and began treating proctology patients. Since then, I have concentrated my professional work on the diagnosis and treatment of diseases occurring in and around the anal region.

Between 2007 and 2011, I worked as a General Surgery Specialist at Istanbul Haseki Training and Research Hospital. While continuing my duties at the hospital, I also continued to examine and treat proctology patients at my private clinic.

I gained significant clinical experience at Haseki Training and Research Hospital, which had a high patient volume. During this period, I evaluated numerous cases of anal diseases, primarily hemorrhoids, anal fissures, anal fistulas, perianal abscesses, and pilonidal sinus.

Not every symptom occurring in the anal region indicates hemorrhoids. Complaints such as bleeding, pain, swelling, or discharge can stem from various different conditions. Therefore, I prioritize establishing an accurate diagnosis before initiating treatment.

How Do I Evaluate My Patients?

I begin the examination by listening in detail to the patient's complaints and medical history. Following this, I perform a proctological examination. When deemed necessary, I utilize anoscopy, a brief examination that allows for the evaluation of the anal canal.

After the examination, I explain the type and stage of the disease to my patient in clear, understandable language. I discuss the available treatment options, how the procedure will be performed, and what to expect during the recovery process.

Every patient's condition is unique. Therefore, I do not recommend a standard treatment based solely on symptoms. I prepare the treatment plan according to the type, stage, and location of the disease, previously applied treatments, and the patient's overall health status.

Which Treatment Methods Do I Apply?

For suitable patients, I consider minimally invasive methods as alternatives to classic surgeries. These are treatments that involve smaller interventions and generally do not require a hospital stay.

In hemorrhoid treatment, I apply laser or stitchless procedures to suitable patients. The laser method aims to shrink the diseased hemorrhoidal tissue.

In anal fissure treatment, I utilize botulinum toxin (Botox) and laser methods for appropriate cases. Botulinum toxin application aims to temporarily reduce excessive contraction in the anal sphincter muscle, thereby aiding the healing of the fissure.

In anal fistula treatment, I evaluate laser-assisted methods for suitable patients. This method aims to close the fistula tract in a controlled manner. The structure of the fistula and the path it follows are decisive in treatment selection.

In pilonidal sinus treatment, I can apply laser or phenol to appropriate cases. The phenol method is based on cleaning the diseased cavity through small entry points and treating it with a chemical agent.

In the treatment of genital and perianal warts, I utilize the radiofrequency method. This application aims to remove the wart tissues in a controlled manner.

I perform a significant portion of these procedures under local anesthesia for suitable patients. Local anesthesia ensures that only the area to be treated is numbed. This allows the patient to return home on the same day without the need for hospitalization.

Not every method is suitable for every patient. I decide which treatment will be applied only after the examination and necessary evaluations are completed.

My International Training Activities

Between 2014 and 2016, I provided observer training programs for surgeons from various countries. In these training sessions, I shared my clinical experiences regarding laser hemorrhoid treatment, radiofrequency applications, pilonidal sinus treatment, and minimally invasive proctology methods.

Since our establishment, Avrupa Cerrahi has provided services to thousands of patients from Turkey and abroad. Over 1,000 of these patients have been international.
