Dr. Mustafa Akkaya earned his medical degree from Gazi University (2003–2009). He completed his residency in Orthopedics and Traumatology at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazit University (2009–2014). He holds a PhD in Musculoskeletal System and Regenerative Medicine from the same university (2016–2020).

In 2022, he received the European Knee Society Knee Arthroplasty Traveling Researcher Fellowship in robotic knee arthroplasty. He worked as a clinical researcher at Helios ENDO‑Klinik Hamburg (2021–2022), focusing on advanced joint surgery and prosthetic infections. He also worked as a clinical researcher at Istituto Ortopedico Rizzoli, Bologna (2014), focusing on arthroscopic joint surgery, meniscus, and cartilage. Prof. H. Mustafa Özdemir is a Professor of Orthopedics and Traumatology at Istanbul Medipol University Faculty of Medicine. He has more than 30 years of clinical and academic experience. He specializes in adult and pediatric spine surgery. His focus includes spinal deformities, degenerative spine disorders, spinal trauma, and complex spinal reconstruction.

He completed a spine surgery fellowship at Johns Hopkins University. He also received clinical training at Heidelberg University. He graduated from Istanbul University Faculty of Medicine. He completed his Orthopedics and Traumatology residency at a training and research hospital in Istanbul.
