Additional information
What is Trigger Finger?
Trigger finger (stenosing tenosynovitis) is a condition where your finger gets stuck in a bent position and may "pop" or lock when you try to straighten it. It’s caused by inflammation or thickening of the tendon sheath in the finger.
Common Symptoms
Finger catching or locking when bent
Pain or tenderness at the base of the finger
Clicking sound when moving the finger
Difficulty with grip or fine hand movements
This involves surgically opening up the thick nerve sheath to allow the nerve to move more freely without getting stuck or pinched when bending and stretching the fingers. The sheath surrounding the nerve, which plays a role in bending the fingers at their base, thickens due to inflammation, making it less convenient for the nerve to move smoothly.
Why Surgery Is Often the Best Solution
✅ Permanent relief of symptoms
✅ Fast procedure (usually 15–30 minutes)
✅ Performed under local anesthesia
✅ Minimal incision with quick healing
✅ Immediate improvement in finger movement in most cases
