How Much Does In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Cost in Turkey?

The cost of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) in Turkey generally ranges from $3,000 to $5,000. Prices can vary depending on the clinic, the specialist’s experience, the number of IVF cycles, and whether advanced techniques like ICSI or PGT-A are used. In the United States, the average price is $18,500 (according to SART). IVF in Turkey is typically about 78% less than in the U.S.

Turkish IVF packages usually include consultations, ovarian stimulation medications, ultrasound monitoring, egg retrieval, fertilization (standard IVF or ICSI), embryo transfer, and basic follow-up. In the U.S., the base price often covers only one cycle, with medications, genetic testing, and embryo freezing billed separately. Always confirm exactly what’s included at each clinic.

hopefully we will succeed very much believe in Dr Semre 🙏
To be honest, we found the clinic by searching for the top 10 hospitals in Turkey and chose Memorial, the call centre was very adequate, we were met at the airport by a special clinic transfer car, which was very convenient for us! Then we had a consultation with doctor Semre Kahraman, she explained us the next steps of our operation (IVF) in a very clear language. We are planning to have the operation at the end of November hopefully we will succeed very much believe in Dr Semre 🙏, I forgot to mention the consultation was free which surprised me very pleasantly 😳 as last year I was in Medipole there I paid 220$ for the consultation.
I liked Dr Semre the best.

She was on call 24/7, always answered in detail, politely and with great patience
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my coordinating doctor Yaroslava from the platform. She was on call 24/7, always answered in detail, politely and with great patience. Yaroslava even enquired about my impressions after my consultation with the doctor, which was very pleasant. Her responsiveness and support helped me to make an important decision. As for the treatment and the doctor, it is too early to give a final assessment, as we are just starting to work. But I can already say that I chose Memorial Ataşehir Clinic and I was satisfied with the staff, the doctor, the interpreter and the clinic itself. I will definitely write a full review of the results later.
A reverent approach of the doctor, no rush, polite, smiling. And my doctor coordinator Yaroslava.

Was offered an appointment and was told it would be online and an interpreter would be provided but there was no interpreter. I was told to pay a deposit but then after the appointment which was suppose to last an hour but lasted 20 minutes (and was started late) was concluded the hospital refused to refund me the deposit when I decided not to proceed! Luckily my credit card was able to get the money back for me.
Nothing
Lack of professionalism, lack of empathy and understanding. Changing the times of my appointment and not having an interpreter available despite promising to have an interpreter.

Yes, I liked it overall. But I didn’t like how translators work - there are not enough Russian-speaking translators, you have to wait for them all the time, once I waited 1.5 hours, once without an interpreter I mixed up the medication, I didn’t take the medicine correctly, because I didn’t understand correctly, even if the translator comes to you, will be in a hurry, because they have a lot of work. The clinic in the Bahcelievler district is large, modern, all tests, medicines can be bought on the spot, the staff is polite. I can’t say the result of infertility treatment yet, since I have only gone halfway through IVF, but I hope for a successful result.

The doctor was very good, answered all the questions, explained everything. The only thing I didn’t like was the wait. At the reception no one spoke English or Russian, I had to wait for an interpreter from another part of the clinic. We were hungry and nervous while waiting, but overall the reception and consultation went well.

I am very happy and satisfied with Bookimed service
My experience in the hospital was not the best one. Please don't get me wrong, the hospital is well maintained and organized. The only problem I had was the visa for my husband. They have assigned interpreter for me in Bulgarian (I have not requested, because my husband doesn't speak my language, so we preferred English communication), however the lady took more than two weeks to replay my email and send the invitation letter. The visa was not ready on time. My treatment started and I had to cancel because my husband was not able to come. We have lost a lot of money and of course the delay of our dream. No one even offer an apology to me.. I am very happy and satisfied with Bookimed service. Everyone I talk to is very polite, attentive and try to fulfil all the request and solve the problem. Thank you so much. I will be happy to work with you again.

Our In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Techniques: What Suits You Best?

When considering In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), it’s important to understand the different techniques and which is best suited for you. Here’s a concise comparison of popular options:

IVF with Gender Selection

IVF with Gender Selection is a fertility treatment enabling parents to choose the sex of their child through assisted reproductive technology.

Pros: Offers a 99% accuracy rate in gender selection. Allows families to balance the gender of their children for personal or medical reasons. Enhances chances of conception by identifying genetically healthy embryos.
Cons: May involve ethical concerns related to gender preference. The process might require additional fertility treatments, increasing complexity and stress for some couples.
Effectiveness: Success rates for embryo transfer are approximately 60% per cycle.
Duration: The procedure takes 4-6 weeks.
Recovery: Recovery period is 1-2 days.
Best for: Families desiring specific gender for medical or personal reasons, or those with hereditary gender-linked conditions.
Prices: Cost of IVF with Gender Selection in Turkey from $6,500

Pharmacological stimulation for IVF

This involves using medications to stimulate the ovaries to produce multiple eggs for retrieval during fertility treatment.

Pros: Enhances egg production, increasing the chance of successful embryo fertilization. Provides flexibility in scheduling the embryo transfer. Can lead to a higher success rate in obtaining viable embryos.
Cons: May cause side effects such as bloating and mood swings. Requires regular monitoring and injections, which can be inconvenient.
Effectiveness: Success rates can vary, but generally range from 20% to 35% per cycle.
Duration: The procedure typically takes 2-3 weeks.
Recovery: Recovery takes 1-2 days post egg retrieval.
Best for: Women with low ovarian reserve or those undergoing IVF for the first time.
Prices: Cost of Pharmacological stimulation for IVF in Turkey from $850

FAQ about In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Is IVF in Turkey safe?

IVF in Turkey is safe when performed at facilities accredited by Joint Commission International or ISO. Leading centers maintain success rates up to 65% for patients under 38. Turkish specialists, many trained at Cornell or Johns Hopkins, follow rigorous European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology safety protocols.

  • Accreditation standards: Top clinics hold Joint Commission International (JCI) and ISO safety certifications.
  • Specialist expertise: Physicians like Semra Kahraman have 40+ years experience with international medical training.
  • Success rates: Established centers report 65% success, matching or exceeding global fertility standards.
  • Advanced technology: Facilities use robotic surgery and European-level labs for embryo culture and testing.

Bookimed Expert Insight: The safest IVF experiences in Turkey are found at clinics affiliated with major US institutions. For instance, Anadolu Medical Center is affiliated with Johns Hopkins Hospital. This connection ensures they follow specific American safety and laboratory protocols rarely found in standalone centers. These high-tier clinics often serve patients from over 90 countries annually, maintaining high safety volumes.

Patient Consensus: Patients report high satisfaction with the clinical care but emphasize using interpreters to avoid medication errors. Many recommend choosing JCI-certified hospitals over smaller boutiques to ensure access to full emergency departments if complications occur.

What pregnancy success rate should I expect?

IVF success rates in Turkey average 65% for patients under 35 at top-tier centers like Memorial Ataşehir Hospital. These rates rival international standards, with clinical success highly dependent on age, embryo quality, and advanced protocols such as ICSI or PGS screening used during treatment.

  • Success rates: Memorial Şişli Hospital reports 65% success using advanced microinjection and freezing techniques.
  • Age impact: Success typically averages 50-65% under 35, decreasing to under 20% over 40.
  • Treatment timeframe: Expect 21-23 days per cycle including stimulation, egg retrieval, and embryo transfer.
  • Certification standards: Top clinics hold JCI and ISO accreditations, ensuring safety and audited outcomes.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Success often builds cumulative momentum across multiple cycles. While a single attempt averages 51-54%, data shows success can reach 70% by the third cycle. Choosing clinics like Anadolu Medical Center, affiliated with Johns Hopkins, ensures access to American-standard laboratory protocols that maximize embryo viability.

Patient Consensus: Patients value doctors who explain complex steps clearly and provide coordinators available 24/7. Many report high satisfaction when clinics include airport transfers, as it reduces stress during the critical transfer window.

What medical risks are associated with IVF procedures in Turkey?

Medical risks for IVF in Turkey include ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS), multiple pregnancies, and rare surgical complications during egg retrieval. Turkish law mitigates these risks by strictly limiting embryo transfer numbers and setting a maximum maternal age of 45 for treatment with personal eggs.

  • Ovarian hyperstimulation (OHSS): Excessive medication response causing abdominal swelling; severe cases occur in under 1%.
  • Multiple pregnancies: Legal transfer limits of 1–2 embryos reduce risks of twins or triplets.
  • Surgical complications: Less than 0.5% risk of infection or bleeding during egg retrieval (OPU).
  • Ectopic pregnancy: Small risk of embryos implanting outside the uterus, requiring immediate medical intervention.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Leading Istanbul centers like Anadolu Medical Center use Johns Hopkins protocols to minimize OHSS. High-tier clinics often integrate PRP-Exosome therapy to improve endometrial receptivity. This targeted approach can reduce the need for repeat cycles and lower cumulative medication exposure. Choosing JCI-accredited facilities ensures standardized lab hygiene to prevent post-retrieval infections.

Patient Consensus: Many advise confirming post-transfer follow-up plans before leaving Turkey. Some patients noted severe abdominal bloating after retrieval and recommend verifying clinic protocols for OHSS prevention.

Am I a good candidate for IVF?

A good candidate for IVF typically includes patients with blocked fallopian tubes, endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), or male factor infertility. Specialists in Turkey often recommend the procedure for those under age 40 with an anti-mullerian hormone level above 0.8 ng/mL and unexplained infertility after 1 year of trying.

  • Ovarian reserve: Ideal candidates maintain healthy egg counts confirmed via anti-mullerian hormone and follicle tests.
  • Male factors: Turkish clinics successfully treat low sperm count or motility using advanced microinjection techniques.
  • Genetic screening: Patients with recurrent miscarriages benefit from preimplantation genetic testing during the IVF cycle.
  • Tube health: IVF remains the primary solution for bypassed or damaged fallopian tubes preventing natural conception.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkish specialists like Dr. Semra Kahraman often accept borderline cases that other regions might decline. Clinics such as Memorial Şişli Hospital utilize aggressive stimulation protocols and pioneered microinjection in the region. This experience allows them to achieve results for patients who were previously unsuccessful with standard treatments elsewhere.

Patient Consensus: Success often depends on conducting initial hormone and semen tests at home before traveling. Patients appreciate the streamlined care for complex cases and feel the high-volume experience of Turkish doctors provides a significant confidence boost.

What does the typical IVF protocol include?

A typical IVF protocol involves ovarian stimulation, egg retrieval, fertilization via ICSI, and embryo transfer over roughly 2 to 3 weeks. Turkish clinics like Memorial Şişli Hospital and Anadolu Medical Center utilize standardized GnRH agonist or antagonist protocols tailored to AMH and FSH hormone levels.

  • Stimulation phase: Patients receive daily hormonal injections for 8 to 14 days to mature multiple follicles.
  • Monitoring schedule: Clinics perform ultrasounds and blood tests every 2 to 3 days to track growth.
  • Egg retrieval: This day-case procedure uses local anesthesia and sedation to collect mature eggs safely.
  • Laboratory stage: Embryologists perform ICSI and culture embryos for 3 to 5 days before transfer.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many Western clinics wait for 18–22 mm follicles, data from top Turkish centers shows a trend toward earlier `trigger shots` at 16–17 mm. This approach, used by veteran specialists like Prof. Semra Kahraman, helps prevent premature ovulation while maintaining high egg quality for ICSI.

Patient Consensus: Patients value the speed of Turkish clinics, where testing and stimulation often begin within one week. Many highlight the relief of having clear, daily updates from onsite translators during the critical fertilization window.

How long must I stay in Turkey?

A typical IVF cycle in Turkey requires a stay of 7 to 14 days. This timeframe covers the final stages of ovarian stimulation, egg retrieval, and embryo transfer. Patients often begin initial hormone treatments at home to minimize their time abroad while ensuring medical supervision for the critical active phase.

  • Procedure duration: Most patients complete the active treatment phase in 8 to 12 days total.
  • Hospital stay: IVF is an outpatient procedure requiring 0 days of hospital admission in Turkey.
  • Flight readiness: International patients safely fly home 2 to 3 days after the embryo transfer.
  • Treatment cycles: Short protocols or antagonist cycles effectively compress the necessary stay to 10 days.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many patients overlook that Memorial Şişli Hospital offers all-inclusive packages covering 21 hotel nights. While the medical phase takes 10 days, using the full stay helps manage stress. Reducing cortisol levels through rest in Istanbul may support better implantation results during the wait for a pregnancy test.

Patient Consensus: Patients recommend arriving 2 days early to adjust to the local time zone before starting stimulation. Many value clinics that coordinate with home-country doctors to shorten the required stay in Turkey.

Which cities and clinics are most trusted for IVF?

Istanbul is the most trusted global hub for IVF, housing prestigious Joint Commission International (JCI) accredited facilities like Memorial Şişli Hospital and Anadolu Medical Center. These centers are recognized for high success rates, advanced preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD), and experienced specialists like Dr. Semra Kahraman.

  • Top clinics: Memorial Şişli Hospital and Anadolu Medical Center lead in international patient volume.
  • Leading city: Istanbul serves patients from 167 countries, offering the highest concentration of accredited labs.
  • Expert credentials: Surgeons like Dr. Semra Kahraman have over 40 years of reproductive medicine experience.
  • Success markers: Memorial Ataşehir Hospital reports a 65% IVF success rate using modern embryoscopy technology.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While Istanbul dominates, the experience gap among doctors is the real differentiator. Dr. Semra Kahraman at Memorial Şişli Hospital was Turkey's first microinjection performer and has 40+ years experience. This level of longevity often correlates with more refined laboratory protocols and higher success in complex cases.

Patient Consensus: Patients value the seamless experience of airport transfers and translated consultations. Many report that specific doctors provide clear, professional roadmaps that reduce the stress of international treatment.
