How Much Does IVF with Gender Selection Cost in Turkey?

The cost of IVF with gender selection in Turkey typically ranges from $6,500 to $10,500. Prices vary depending on the clinic, the experience of the fertility specialist, the number of IVF cycles, and the specific genetic testing method used (like PGT-A or PGS). In the United States, the average cost is $30,000 (per SART). This means IVF with gender selection in Turkey is about 72% cheaper than in the U.S.

Turkish clinics generally include initial consultations, ovarian stimulation medication, egg retrieval, ICSI, embryo culture, genetic screening for sex selection, and embryo transfer in the package. Some also cover blood tests, ultrasounds, and follow-up visits. In the U.S., many of these services—especially genetic testing—are billed separately. Always confirm exactly what’s included with each clinic before starting treatment.

  • Undergo preimplantation genetic screening (PGS) to determine chromosomal normality and select embryos of the desired gender.
  • Embryos are frozen while awaiting PGS results, which may take 15-20 days.
Day 19-33: Await PGS Results
  • During this period, you may choose to return home or remain in Turkey. Discuss with your doctor the best option based on your circumstances.
  • If returning home, ensure you maintain open communication with the clinic for updates on PGS results.
  • Prepare for the potential return to Turkey for the embryo transfer once results are available.
Day 34: Embryo Transfer Preparation
  • Once PGS results are received, plan your return to Turkey for the embryo transfer.
  • Begin medication to prepare the uterine lining for embryo implantation as instructed by your doctor.
  • Ensure travel arrangements are made for a smooth return to Turkey.
Day 35-42: Embryo Transfer and Monitoring

Everything was flawless
If you’re considering stem cell rejuvenation, you should be aware that the hardest part comes after the procedure. For me, the biggest challenge was definitely waiting for the results. The procedure itself, which involved using stem cells from my blood plasma, was straightforward. Physically, I actually feel much the same as before, which is probably normal in the early stages of recovery. The surgeon and the entire staff were consistently professional and supportive, so I give full marks for the care and the clinic. Everything was flawless. You just have to be aware that patience is required. I would recommend the clinic.
The treatment went smoothly. The town is lovely for sightseeing afterwards, too.
The clinic’s coordinator isn’t always available, which was sometimes frustrating. It makes you feel insecure. I was scared at first (new city, I didn’t know anyone and I didn’t speak the language either). The Bookimed staff member was always available and replied straight away. She was reliable, which made my stay much easier in the end. Not all the hotels are good. I recommend the Hyatt hotel (it’s expensive, though) and 216 Castel (cheap and in a lovely area). Be careful with taxi drivers in the city. You end up paying more than the journey actually cost.

hopefully we will succeed very much believe in Dr Semre 🙏
To be honest, we found the clinic by searching for the top 10 hospitals in Turkey and chose Memorial, the call centre was very adequate, we were met at the airport by a special clinic transfer car, which was very convenient for us! Then we had a consultation with doctor Semre Kahraman, she explained us the next steps of our operation (IVF) in a very clear language. We are planning to have the operation at the end of November hopefully we will succeed very much believe in Dr Semre 🙏, I forgot to mention the consultation was free which surprised me very pleasantly 😳 as last year I was in Medipole there I paid 220$ for the consultation.
I liked Dr Semre the best.

She was on call 24/7, always answered in detail, politely and with great patience
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my coordinating doctor Yaroslava from the platform. She was on call 24/7, always answered in detail, politely and with great patience. Yaroslava even enquired about my impressions after my consultation with the doctor, which was very pleasant. Her responsiveness and support helped me to make an important decision. As for the treatment and the doctor, it is too early to give a final assessment, as we are just starting to work. But I can already say that I chose Memorial Ataşehir Clinic and I was satisfied with the staff, the doctor, the interpreter and the clinic itself. I will definitely write a full review of the results later.
A reverent approach of the doctor, no rush, polite, smiling. And my doctor coordinator Yaroslava.

Yes, I liked it overall. But I didn’t like how translators work - there are not enough Russian-speaking translators, you have to wait for them all the time, once I waited 1.5 hours, once without an interpreter I mixed up the medication, I didn’t take the medicine correctly, because I didn’t understand correctly, even if the translator comes to you, will be in a hurry, because they have a lot of work. The clinic in the Bahcelievler district is large, modern, all tests, medicines can be bought on the spot, the staff is polite. I can’t say the result of infertility treatment yet, since I have only gone halfway through IVF, but I hope for a successful result.

Was offered an appointment and was told it would be online and an interpreter would be provided but there was no interpreter. I was told to pay a deposit but then after the appointment which was suppose to last an hour but lasted 20 minutes (and was started late) was concluded the hospital refused to refund me the deposit when I decided not to proceed! Luckily my credit card was able to get the money back for me.
Nothing
Lack of professionalism, lack of empathy and understanding. Changing the times of my appointment and not having an interpreter available despite promising to have an interpreter.

The doctor was very good, answered all the questions, explained everything. The only thing I didn’t like was the wait. At the reception no one spoke English or Russian, I had to wait for an interpreter from another part of the clinic. We were hungry and nervous while waiting, but overall the reception and consultation went well.

I am very happy and satisfied with Bookimed service
My experience in the hospital was not the best one. Please don't get me wrong, the hospital is well maintained and organized. The only problem I had was the visa for my husband. They have assigned interpreter for me in Bulgarian (I have not requested, because my husband doesn't speak my language, so we preferred English communication), however the lady took more than two weeks to replay my email and send the invitation letter. The visa was not ready on time. My treatment started and I had to cancel because my husband was not able to come. We have lost a lot of money and of course the delay of our dream. No one even offer an apology to me.. I am very happy and satisfied with Bookimed service. Everyone I talk to is very polite, attentive and try to fulfil all the request and solve the problem. Thank you so much. I will be happy to work with you again.

FAQ about IVF with Gender Selection in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Is gender selection legal in Turkey?

Gender selection in Turkey is strictly legal only for medical reasons to prevent the transmission of serious sex-linked genetic disorders. Turkish law prohibits elective sex selection for family balancing or personal preference, requiring documented medical necessity and Preimplantation Genetic Testing to proceed with sex-specific embryo transfers.

  • Medical necessity: Only permitted to avoid sex-linked diseases like Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
  • Legal restriction: Turkish regulations officially ban elective gender selection for social reasons.
  • Genetic screening: PGD is used primarily for chromosomal health, not sex identification.
  • Couple requirements: IVF services are exclusively available to legally married heterosexual couples.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While local law is strict, Turkey remains a top destination for IVF because of high success rates, such as the 65% reported by Memorial Şişli Hospital. Many patients choose Istanbul for initial fertility treatments due to the lower costs compared to the US, where prices average $30,000.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize the importance of requesting a detailed protocol in writing before traveling. Most suggest budgeting for three separate trips to cover the stimulation, retrieval, and transfer phases effectively.

What are the IVF success rates in Turkey?

IVF success rates in Turkey range from 40% to 70% per cycle, often exceeding international benchmarks. Outcomes for patients under 35 reaching 65% to 71% at JCI-accredited centers like Memorial Şişli Hospital. Advanced PGT-A screening further boosts transfer success to over 70%.

  • Age impact: Success remains highest at 60–70% for patients under age 35.
  • Advanced screening: PGT-tested embryo transfers yield a 51% average live birth rate.
  • Clinic benchmarks: Memorial Ataşehir Hospital reports a 65% success rate for younger patients.
  • Cumulative outcomes: Success probability increases to 80% after completing three full IVF cycles.

Bookimed Expert Insight: High success rates in Turkey often stem from massive patient volumes. Memorial Şişli Hospital alone serves patients from 167 countries. This global inflow allows Turkish embryologists to refine techniques across diverse genetic backgrounds. Clinics with over 15,000 procedures typically maintain higher consistency in laboratory outcomes.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize that adding PGT-A screening significantly improves the chance of a successful pregnancy. Most recommend budgeting for a second cycle to account for realistic biological variations.

What is the accuracy of the gender selection process?

The accuracy of gender selection via IVF with preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) in Turkey is 99.9% for identifying embryo sex. This clinical method involves biopsy of a 5-day-old blastocyst to analyze X and Y chromosomes before uterine transfer, virtually eliminating the 50/50 natural odds.

  • Genetic testing: PGT-A identifies sex chromosomes with 99.9% to 100% precision levels.
  • Lab reliability: Certified Turkish laboratories maintain error rates below 0.1% during embryo biopsy.
  • Alternative methods: Sperm sorting techniques offer lower accuracy, ranging from 75% to 90%.
  • Biological limits: High testing accuracy does not guarantee a viable embryo of the desired sex.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data from top Istanbul facilities like Memorial Sisli Hospital indicates that successful gender selection depends on `blastocyst yield.` Having at least 8 embryos for testing significantly increases the probability of finding your desired sex. Clinics with JCI accreditation often have more sophisticated labs, which reduces the risk of embryo damage during the delicate biopsy process.

Patient Consensus: While patients confirm the genetic testing is incredibly reliable, many emphasize that success truly depends on having enough healthy embryos to choose from. They suggest focusing on clinics with high IVF success rates to ensure you have multiple options for transfer.

What is included in a typical IVF package in Turkey?

Typical IVF packages in Turkey include ovarian stimulation, egg retrieval under sedation, and Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) to maximize fertilization success. Standard inclusions involve laboratory embryo culture for 3 to 5 days, embryo transfer, and initial consultations with fertility specialists at Joint Commission International-accredited hospitals.

  • Core medicine: Packages cover ovarian monitoring scans, blood tests, and surgical egg collection procedures.
  • Laboratory services: ICSI fertilization, embryo culture to blastocyst stage, and sperm preparation are standard.
  • Logistics support: International patients receive airport transfers, translation services, and 15 to 20 nights accommodation.
  • Post-op care: The final embryo transfer and the first beta-hCG pregnancy blood test are included.

Bookimed Expert Insight: High-volume centers like Anadolu Medical Center or Memorial Şişli Hospital often include ICSI as a standard rather than an add-on. This approach differs from many US clinics where ICSI costs extra. Data shows these top-tier Turkish facilities maintain IVF success rates around 65% by bundling advanced lab techniques into the base price.

Patient Consensus: Patients frequently highlight that while basic medical steps are bundled, stimulation medications and genetic screening often require separate payments. Most advise confirming if the 3 to 7 nights of included hotel stay covers the full 21-day treatment cycle.

How long do I need to stay in Turkey for the treatment?

Patients undergoing IVF with gender selection in Turkey typically require a stay of 21 to 28 days. This timeframe covers ovarian stimulation, egg retrieval, preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) for gender identification, and the subsequent embryo transfer within a single menstrual cycle.

  • Ovarian stimulation: Expect 10–12 days of medication and frequent ultrasound monitoring sessions.
  • Egg retrieval: This day surgery requires 2–4 hours at the clinic under sedation.
  • PGT testing: Gender screening results usually take 5–10 days after the embryo biopsy.
  • Embryo transfer: Requires 2–3 days of bed rest in Turkey before flying home safely.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While clinics often quote a 21-day minimum, our data shows patients staying 28 days have smoother experiences. This extra week accounts for PGT lab processing times and reduces travel stress. Memorial Atasehir Hospital reports a 65% success rate, which is often tied to allowing the body sufficient rest between retrieval and transfer.

Patient Consensus: Many suggest booking flexible flights or nearby apartments rather than hotels for the full month. Patients emphasize that staying 4–5 weeks helps manage physical recovery and potential delays in genetic testing results.
