Additional information

Our interventional pain medicine programme is for people with persistent neck or back pain that has not improved with physiotherapy, medication or time — and who want a structured, evidence-based pathway that does not begin with spine surgery.

The programme is delivered by pain medicine physicians using image-guided, needle-only techniques. Every treatment is targeted: we first identify which structure is generating your pain, then treat that structure precisely — rather than offering the same injection to everyone.

Depending on your assessment, your individualized plan may include:

Diagnostic medial branch block — a precise test injection that confirms whether the small facet joints of the spine are the true pain source before any longer-acting treatment
Medial branch radiofrequency ablation (RF) — heat treatment of the small nerves supplying painful facet joints, considered when a diagnostic block confirms the source; relief in suitable patients can be longer-lasting than repeated injections
Facet joint injection — steroid, PRP or prolotherapy options, selected case by case
Cervical epidural steroid injection (ESI) — for selected nerve-root-related neck and arm pain
Selective cervical nerve root injection — both diagnostic and therapeutic for pinpointing the affected nerve
Trigger point injection — for focal muscular pain generators

All procedures are image-guided and needle-only: no incision, no implant, no general anaesthesia required for most treatments, and same-day discharge for most patients. Because the diagnostic step comes first, you avoid paying for — and undergoing — treatments aimed at the wrong structure.

Why patients choose YOUNIFY's pain programme:

A logical, stepwise pathway: diagnose first, treat second — evidence-based interventional pain practice
Delivered by pain medicine physicians with image guidance on every procedure
Needle-only alternatives considered before anyone talks about spine surgery
Same-day discharge; short, plannable Bangkok stay
Honest triage: red-flag conditions and clearly surgical cases are told so, and referred appropriately
Physician-led clinic in Silom, central Bangkok — five minutes' walk from BTS Sala Daeng, daily 11:00–20:00, English-speaking staff, WhatsApp coordination

International and Muslim-friendly patient support: we welcome patients from the GCC and Muslim-majority countries — privacy and modesty respected during examination and treatment, a female physician can be requested where available, halal dining options around Silom, and scheduling that accommodates prayer times and Ramadan.

Interventional pain treatment is not appropriate for every spine condition. Significant weakness, cauda equina symptoms, infection, fracture, tumour or severe instability require different management. Final eligibility is determined after specialist assessment and imaging review.

Individual results may vary. Please consult a physician before undergoing any procedure.

About the clinic

YOUNIFY Clinic

Radiofrequency ablation at YOUNIFY Clinic in Bangkok, Thailand, offers a minimally invasive way to manage chronic neck and back pain. The procedure uses targeted thermal energy to quiet pain signals from nerves without the need for traditional surgery. Patients benefit from the expertise of specialists in interventional radiology and a clinical path designed to confirm the pain source before treatment.

Precision Pain Relief with Image Guidance

Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) focuses on treating facet joint pain in the cervical, lumbar, and sacroiliac regions. The procedure begins with a diagnostic medial branch block. This step helps the medical team confirm the exact source of the pain before proceeding. Once the site is identified, the doctor uses fluoroscopy, a type of live X-ray, to guide a thin needle to the nerve. Radiofrequency energy then flows through the needle to interrupt pain signals. Because the entry is only the size of a needle, there are no surgical incisions.

Specialized Care by Dr. Thanakrit Mongklapaiboon

Dr. Thanakrit Mongklapaiboon leads the interventions at the clinic. He specializes in interventional radiology with a specific focus on musculoskeletal nerve blocks and ablations. Dr. Thanakrit Mongklapaiboon holds a Fellowship in Body Interventional Radiology. He is also certified by the Thai Subspecialty Board of Interventional Radiology and the Thai Board of Diagnostic Radiology. His training in advanced imaging allows for precise needle placement during every procedure.

Outpatient Experience and Recovery

The treatment is performed using a local anesthetic to keep the patient comfortable. Since it is an outpatient procedure, patients typically receive a same-day discharge. Recovery is fast compared to standard surgery. Most people return to their daily activities within 1–3 days. The pain relief from RFA usually lasts for many months. If the pain returns over time, the procedure can be safely repeated. This method serves as an effective alternative for those who want to avoid surgery for chronic joint pain.
