The procedure is performed by an experienced urology specialist in a large private multi-specialty hospital in Warsaw, Poland – LUX MED St. Elizabeth's Hospital, which, along with the entire LUX MED Group, is part of the international Bupa group, a leading healthcare provider and insurer worldwide.
The package price may not include all diagnostic and treatment costs, as these depend on the specific case and the doctor's recommendations. In the event of additional costs, the patient will be asked to accept them on a case-by-case basis.

How are we doing?
About the clinic
Drug-coated balloon urethral dilatation is a minimally invasive treatment for urinary tract strictures at LUX MED Szpital św. Elżbiety in Warsaw, Poland. This procedure uses a paclitaxel-coated balloon to open the urethra and release medication locally to prevent the blockage from returning. The hospital holds an official accreditation from the Polish Ministry of Health and offers care from specialists trained in Germany.
Advanced Urethral Stricture Treatment
This method treats recurrent urethral strictures and blockages in the ureters. During the short procedure, a urologist uses a thin endoscope to reach the narrowed area of the urinary tract. A specialized balloon is then placed at the site and inflated. This action mechanically widens the passage while releasing paclitaxel. This drug helps stop excessive cell growth, which significantly lowers the risk of the stricture forming again compared to standard dilation methods.
Clinical Expertise and Safety
Priv.-Doz. Dr. med. Tomasz Ozimek leads these procedures at the clinic. He is a Fellow of the European Board of Urology with extensive experience in Berlin. Dr. Ozimek focuses on endourology and minimally invasive surgeries, specifically using drug-coated balloons to treat complex cases. LUX MED Szpital św. Elżbiety supports this care with five fully equipped operating rooms and 24/7 emergency services.
Recovery and Patient Benefits
Because the procedure is endoscopic, there are no surgical incisions. Patients benefit from a quick return to their daily activities. The treatment is often performed as a day-case or requires only a short stay in the hospital. This makes it a convenient option for international patients seeking specialized urological care in Warsaw. The hospital is part of the LUX MED Group, one of the largest private medical networks in Poland, featuring over 200 specialists across 13 departments.
