About the clinic
Ciruplástica is a private plastic surgery clinic in Bogotá, Colombia. The center focuses on body contouring and reconstructive breast surgery. Its medical team includes eight certified plastic surgeons. Every surgeon belongs to the Colombian Society of Plastic Surgery. The team has over 20 years of experience in aesthetic procedures. Specialties include complex tummy tucks and personalized rhinoplasty.
The clinic uses exclusive post-op technologies like Gel Cirulab and Tensamax. These tools reduce inflammation and prevent fibrosis during healing. Rhinoplasty procedures use ultrasound for precise bone shaping. Surgeons also use CO2 lasers for scar refinement and mole removal. International patients get structured support through partner recovery homes. These stays offer 24/7 nursing and healthy anti-inflammatory meals.
Patients most often travel from the United States, Chile, and Spain. Logistical support includes transfers between the clinic and recovery apartments. Every surgical case gets mandatory physician-led follow-up. A specialized nurse cares for each patient during the first night.

CIRUPLÁSTICA: more details about the clinic
Colombia, Bogota
CIRUPLÁSTICA is a private plastic surgery clinic in Bogotá, Colombia. The facility operates from a single specialized building. Over the past 20 years, the medical team has focused on body contouring and reconstructive breast surgery. The clinic combines surgical care with a structured recovery model for patients from the United States, Chile, and Europe.
Credentials and Specialized Team
The clinic has a team of 8 certified plastic surgeons. Every surgeon holds active membership in the Sociedad Colombiana de Cirugía Plástica (SCCP). This professional association requires rigorous training and ethical standards. Many specialists trained at the National University of Colombia. Some completed advanced training in Brazil, a leading hub for aesthetic medicine.
- Dr. Carlos Arturo Rivera Torres has over 40 years of experience in reconstructive surgery.
- Dr. Andres Barrera Vanhissenhoven has practiced for 17 years in aesthetic and reconstructive medicine.
- Dr. Manuel Javier Rincón Almanza brings 17 years of experience and trained in Rio de Janeiro.
- Dr. Camilo Enrique Acosta Guerrero specializes in reconstructive hand surgery and micro-surgeries.
Physicians lead every stage of the patient journey. They conduct early follow-ups to catch warning signs during healing. This approach helps maintain low complication rates across all aesthetic procedures.
Body Contouring and Breast Surgery
Specialists perform several types of abdominoplasty based on skin laxity. Fleur de Lis abdominoplasty treats patients after massive weight loss. This method uses horizontal and vertical incisions to remove significant excess skin. The traditional tummy tuck includes muscle repair for diastasis, or muscle separation. For circumferential correction, surgeons perform 360-degree abdominoplasty. This addresses the abdomen, flanks, and lower back.
Liposculpture defines body contours rather than just removing fat. The clinic offers natural abdominal marking to create a defined look. Fat transfer techniques are used for gluteal enhancement to achieve anatomy-based volumes. Surgeons set a Body Mass Index (BMI) limit of 35 for safety. Patients with a higher BMI receive a structured weight-loss diet plan before surgery.
Breast procedures include augmentation with saline implants and breast lifts. The clinic uses Motiva implants, approved by the FDA and INVIMA. Reconstructive breast surgery is also available for patients needing post-mastectomy care. Surgeons discuss realistic outcomes openly. They explain scar placement and the limitations of each technique.
Aesthetic Medicine and Recovery Technologies
Non-surgical facial rejuvenation uses purified proteins to relax muscles and soften lines. The clinic also uses ultrasound technology for rhinoplasty. This tool allows precise bone work while sparing the surrounding soft tissues. For scar management, the clinic provides CO2 laser sessions once incisions have closed. These sessions help prevent keloids and improve the skin's final appearance.
Post-operative care involves exclusive recovery products. Gel Cirulab is a clinic-exclusive formula that reduces inflammation. The medical team also uses Tensamax technology during recovery sessions. These treatments help minimize fibrosis and speed up soft tissue healing. Patients also use medical-grade silicone and compression garments (fajas) as part of the protocol.
Services for International Patients
International patients follow a specific safety timeline for travel. The clinic requires arrival at least 4 days before the operation. Patients typically stay in Bogotá for 15 to 20 days after surgery. This allows surgeons to monitor for deep vein thrombosis before the return flight. The clinic provides free online assessments to help patients plan their trip.
Recovery takes place in associated recovery homes near the clinic. These homes provide a controlled environment with 24/7 nursing support. The program includes several dedicated amenities:
- Healthy anti-inflammatory meals designed for post-surgical recovery
- Daily laundry services for post-operative compression garments
- Private and shared apartments equipped with Wi-Fi
- Transport between the recovery home, clinic, and follow-up visits
Each surgical package includes a complications insurance policy for added safety. A specialized nurse stays with the patient for the first night after the procedure. The clinic coordinates all transfers so patients move safely between appointments.

I’m taking this space to thank the clinic’s staff, both the surgeon and even the nurses. Thank you for allowing dreams to come true—simple dreams, like having the courage to go back to the mirrors with great self-esteem.

I would especially like to highlight the work of the esthetician Lizney, who was and is still key in my entire process. Her dedication, care, and knowledge make every session effective. She is a very pleasant person who explains correctly every process she carries out.

I’ve had a very good experience, from the clinic, the nurses and the doctor, to Ana María, my nurse, Lizney, my esthetician, and the post-op team. Everyone was very kind, very professional, and above all, attentive to me the whole time. I recommend it without a doubt—thank you so much ❤️

I had surgery two years ago; I had liposculpture with a gluteal fat transfer.
- WHAT WAS GOOD: The nurse on the first night; home massages—Marcela was the one who attended to me, and she was very attentive and kind. The organization of my post-op appointments was excellent; they scheduled all of them from the day of the surgery.
- RESULTS: As for the gluteal fat transfer, I was satisfied—that was the look I wanted to improve the most. It turned out beautiful and natural.
As for my abdomen and waist, I was not satisfied. I ended up with fat lumps that make the area look irregular. They hardly did anything for my waist; in fact, I still have a fat lump that makes me look straight. When I told them I felt these fat lumps, they said it was swelling. At my last follow-up, I asked them to put enzymes on me and I would pay for them. Then I decided to wait to see if it really was swelling, as they said—and indeed, it was NOT. If I wanted to improve further, I would have to undergo another surgery.
- OBSERVATIONS: I think it’s a good clinic, but they’re not experts in liposculpture. Surgeons aren’t perfect and they can leave irregularities, but if that happens, they should be aware of it and offer a guarantee, covering the costs—or at least only charging the costs. They should acknowledge that the result wasn’t the best without forcing the patient to start fighting and filing complaints. That was my case: I told them I saw something wrong, but I wasn’t going to fight for a guarantee. I’ve always believed that if you have to fight about medical issues, it’s better not to demand a guarantee in a bad way, because something may come out wrong.
