Erebuni Medical Center: more details about the clinic
Armenia, Yerevan
Erebuni Medical Center is a major multi-specialty hospital in Yerevan, Armenia. Founded in 1991, it has grown into a significant healthcare provider with roughly 100 departments and units. The center treats about 36,000 patients each year. It offers emergency care, surgical treatments, and specialized diagnostics.
Accreditations and Clinical Volume
The facility holds JCI accreditation, which confirms adherence to international patient safety and quality standards. Its medical team includes 480 physicians across various disciplines. The center also holds ESMO and ASCO certifications, reflecting its commitment to oncology care standards. The outpatient clinic serves about 36,000 residents annually.
Neurology and Neurosurgery
The hospital runs a regional Stroke Center that provides 24-hour emergency care for cerebrovascular events. Two specialized teams – neurology and neurosurgery – work together to treat suspected stroke cases immediately upon arrival. The neurology department manages over 2,000 inpatient and 5,000 outpatient cases each year.
Surgeons perform several advanced endovascular procedures to treat brain and vascular conditions:
- Mechanical thrombectomy – physical removal of blood clots from arteries
- IV thrombolysis using alteplase to dissolve clots
- Microcatheter and Onyx embolization for vascular malformations
- Stenting for narrowed blood vessels
These techniques let doctors treat complex brain conditions without traditional open surgery.
Maternity and Pediatric Care
The maternity hospital is among the largest in Armenia. It holds a 3rd-level classification from the Ministry of Health. Staff deliver about 6,000 babies annually and treat around 30,000 women each year. For children, the center runs a cochlear implant program that currently supports 170 pediatric patients with hearing loss.
Cardiology and Specialized Surgery
The cardiology center has dedicated units for emergency care and arrhythmology to treat heart rhythm disorders. Diagnostic tools include spirometry to monitor chronic obstructive conditions. The hospital also performs robotic surgery using the Edge Medical MP2000 system for greater precision during complex operations.
The endoscopy department offers several diagnostic and therapeutic procedures:
- Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD)
- Colonoscopy and bronchoscopy
- ERCP – a procedure to treat bile and pancreatic duct issues
- Stenting and removal of precancerous lesions
These procedures help detect and treat gastrointestinal and respiratory diseases early.
Medical Technology and Diagnostics
The diagnostic department uses high-field MRI and CT imaging systems. These include the Siemens Magnetom Vida 3T and Aera 1.5T scanners for rapid brain protocols and contrast studies. For cancer diagnostics, the center uses a Siemens Healthineers Biograph mCT PET/CT scanner.
The radiation therapy unit relies on Varian technologies, including the Halcyon and Edge platforms, for precise tumor targeting. The hospital also operates a European Nuclear Medicine Center. For surgical needs, the facility uses the Fresenius Kabi Aurora system and various robotic platforms.
Patient Accommodations
The center offers general, individual, and premium-class suites. Premium rooms provide high comfort and are available for expectant mothers and postpartum patients. These suites allow relatives to stay around the clock and include three healthy meals per day.

Overall, everything was fine until I recently had an MRI. I’d used this clinic before and had always been happy with their service. But I had an MRI on the 18th, and today is the 27th — still no report, and I have absolutely no idea when I’m going to get it))) Seems a bit inhumane, honestly.

I faced truly outrageous and ignorant attitude from Dr. Nina Nazinian, their neurologist and a member in their department of multiple sclerosis studies.
As a recommendation from a neurologist from my clinic, I crossed an half of the city to get final opinion of this specialist to start my treatment already. Instead of summarizing the information of medical examinations conducted and make a logical diagnosis which 2 doctors had agreed with before, she simply avoided responsibility and asked to wait their chief doctor's return from vacation to have extra analysis prescribed (such as a urine test, or additional MRI when the one was made already). When I questioned on what can I do now to ease my symptoms, she offered me getting hospitalized 🤡 Why? If your chief doctor is on vacation, who's going to help me? Just make a diagnosis and give me a prescription so that I can buy pills and drink them to feel better now).
// I checked later and learned that a chief doctor's consultation costs 3 times larger (30k AMD or 70 EUR). Offering it when enough information is accumulated is just an attempt to make money //
! A dedicated medical audit has to be implemented to verify this doctor's competency. I don't recommend this specialist !

Overall a great hospital with huge patient turnover rate, staff needs training on how to behave with patient's relatives/spouses.
Maternity clinic has a section where you can't enter as a husband but I don't see strict control and even if you miss the notice and eventually enter you can be "welcomed" with rudeness..
To the higher management: please do work on mid level and service staff's(such as cashiers, secretaries) proper training on service and basic communication skills, thank you!
