Private Clinic Lassnitzhöhe: more details about the clinic
Privatklinik Laßnitzhöhe is a private rehabilitation clinic in the spa town of Laßnitzhöhe, in green hills just east of Graz in southern Austria. Founded in 1983, it has 330 beds in single and double rooms, making it one of the larger private rehabilitation clinics in the country, and belongs to SANLAS Holding, a Styrian healthcare group with more than 40 years of experience in rehabilitation and care. The clinic specialises in neurological and orthopaedic rehabilitation and also provides acute inpatient care, pain therapy and a specialised hearing rehabilitation programme.
Neurological Rehabilitation
The clinic's main focus is helping patients recover after neurological illness or injury, including:
- stroke;
- traumatic brain injury;
- brain tumours;
- spinal cord injuries;
- chronic conditions such as multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's disease.
A team of doctors, neuropsychologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists and nurses works together on each patient's recovery of movement, speech and cognitive ability. Modern therapy technology supports the process, including the G-EO robotic gait trainer, which helps patients relearn walking and stair climbing, and a dedicated arm studio for restoring hand and arm function. Visual field training is available for patients with sight loss after a stroke.
Orthopaedic Rehabilitation
Orthopaedic rehabilitation helps patients regain mobility and freedom from pain after hip, knee and shoulder operations, as well as after accidents and injuries. Physiotherapy, exercise therapy, physical therapy and the clinic's indoor pool for water-based therapy are combined into an individual plan for each patient.
Pain Therapy and Hearing Rehabilitation
A structured seven-day inpatient pain therapy programme is offered for acute and chronic pain. The clinic was also the first in Austria to establish a structured, multidisciplinary rehabilitation programme for adults after a cochlear implant, developed in 2022 together with the ENT University Clinic in Graz, to help patients learn to hear again.
Therapies and Comfort
Alongside conventional rehabilitation medicine, the clinic offers complementary therapies including traditional Chinese medicine with acupuncture and whole-body cryotherapy in a cold chamber. Patients stay in single or double rooms and have access to:
- an indoor pool with a winter garden;
- a sauna area;
- a library;
- a cafeteria with a terrace;
- a full leisure programme of concerts, readings and courses.
Quality and International Patients
The clinic has been certified to ISO 9001 since 2005 and holds contracts with all Austrian social and pension insurance carriers as well as many private insurers. It also welcomes self-paying and international patients, who can access its full range of services privately and without waiting times. The clinic is also part of Austria's PRIKRAF private hospital network, is recognised as a specialised centre for multiple sclerosis and botulinum toxin treatment for neurological disorders, and serves as a training centre for neurology specialists and neurorehabilitation education in cooperation with the Austrian Society for Neurorehabilitation.
