The cost of the consultation was fixed and communicated to you in advance, before the appointment began, and it did not change during the course of treatment. Furthermore, aiming to help you optimize medication expenses, your assigned medical coordinator, on their own initiative, verified and provided you with information on the cost of prescribed medications at a state pharmacy, to which our practice has no relation in terms of pricing. Allegations of a "money-making scheme" in this context are entirely unfounded. The doctor fully fulfilled her obligations as a high-level specialist by providing you with a ready treatment plan. Treating congenital dysplasia and femur shortening is always a long journey requiring well-considered decisions. However, we categorically disagree with the negative assessment of Dr. Segev's work. The task of a high-class pediatric orthopedic surgeon is not just to perform another complex surgery "here and now," but to design the most gentle, physiological, and effective plan for years to come, considering the child's bone growth areas. In this case, Dr. Segev's strategy aims to minimize trauma and ensure the child has a full childhood: The doctor recommends gradually discontinuing the use of crutches, transitioning to walking with full weight-bearing (in a splint), and using orthopedic shoes (7 cm) to compensate for the difference. The child should move and develop rather than remain confined to crutches or a bed. Instead of the heavy, psychologically traumatic, and physically exhausting Ilizarov apparatus (which often involves risks of infection and contractures with prolonged use), Dr. Segev offers a modern, much more gentle and aesthetic minimally invasive method — using a telescopic magnetic nail (PRECISE MAGNETIC NAIL).
