Verified review.
The person who was given the appointment was given the wrong one and I traveled 5 hours because of this mistake and paid 157 euros and I was not examined medically because the appointment was given the wrong one and they told me that I should have 5 more days to request a refund I actually made the request and I haven't received the money back yet. It was a very bad experience and I hope it doesn't happen again.
Unfortunately, I did not like anything. They were negligent in everything. They did not have time to inquire. They talked to you with an upset face
My appointment was not scheduled correctly because of the person I made the appointment with.

FAQ about Acne Laser Treatment (per session) in Italy

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

How many sessions are usually required for effective acne laser treatment?

Effective acne laser treatment usually requires 3 to 6 sessions for most patients. Specialized technologies like AviClear typically need 3 sessions, while active acne treated with Nd:YAG or Blue Light may require 4 to 8 sessions to see significant improvement in skin clarity.

  • Treatment for scars: Non-ablative lasers typically require 3 to 6 sessions for collagen remodeling.
  • Ablative laser efficiency: Intensive CO2 lasers often achieve visible results in only 1 to 2 sessions.
  • Session intervals: Treatments are spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart to ensure proper skin healing.
  • Results timeline: Final improvements for scarring are usually visible 3 to 6 months after treatment.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Italian research centers like San Raffaele handle over 300,000 patients annually using advanced medical protocols. While individual sessions in Italy range from $300 to $500, many clinics offer better value when booking 4 to 6 sessions upfront. This volume-based approach often aligns better with the physiological 3-session mark where progress becomes visible.

Patient Consensus: Many patients find that session 3 is the turning point for visible skin improvement. They recommend taking progress photos and continuing topical treatments to prevent acne rebounds after the laser course ends.

What happens during a dermatological consultation before laser treatment in Italy?

Dermatological consultations in Italy involve a clinical skin assessment by a specialist to determine laser suitability. Doctors perform digital dermoscopy or Wood’s lamp exams to check pigmentation. They review medical history and medications like retinoids to ensure safe treatment and optimal skin healing.

  • Clinical assessment: Specialists evaluate phototype and skin pathology using high-magnification tools or digital dermoscopy.
  • Medical review: Doctors analyze current medications, hormonal history, and allergies to prevent adverse reactions.
  • Patch testing: A test spot is often mandatory 1–2 weeks before the full session.
  • Treatment planning: Patients receive a detailed session count, downtime expectations, and post-laser skincare protocols.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Italian research hospitals like San Raffaele emphasize diagnostic accuracy by combining aesthetic care with clinical research. Patients should prioritize clinics where dermatologists oversee the entire process rather than technicians. These high-volume centers often provide specialized pre-treatment kits that enhance skin preparation and recovery outcomes.

Patient Consensus: Expect the initial exam to last up to 60 minutes for a thorough analysis. Patients recommend bringing a full list of current acne products to avoid ingredients that increase light sensitivity.

Which type of acne responds best to laser therapy?

Inflammatory acne characterized by red papules and pustules responds most effectively to laser therapy. While lasers target mild to moderate cases when medications fail, they are less effective for non-inflammatory blackheads. Treatment typically requires 3 to 6 sessions for visible results.

  • 1726 nm laser: Targets overactive oil glands to address the root cause of sebum.
  • Pulsed dye laser: Reduces persistent redness and treats inflammatory lesions by targeting blood vessels.
  • Nd:YAG 1064 nm: Penetrates deep skin layers to kill bacteria and treats darker skin tones.
  • Photodynamic therapy: Combines light with photosensitizing agents to treat severe, stubborn acne cases.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While single sessions in Italy cost $300 to $500, research clinics like San Raffaele in Milan demonstrate the value of academic centers. These institutions often integrate dermatology with advanced immunology. This is vital for patients with persistent, treatment-resistant inflammatory acne.
