Body Jet liposuction in Mexico: Pros and Cons

Body Jet liposuction in Mexico can offer significant cost savings, but it's crucial to weigh the potential benefits against the risks.

Pros Cons
Lower costs. Body Jet liposuction in Mexico costs $2,500–$4,000 versus $5,000–$8,000 in the US, with savings up to 50%. Safety concerns. Potential risks include a 3–5% infection rate and contour irregularities, similar to rates in the US. These can be minimized by choosing accredited facilities.
Qualified surgeons. Surgeons are certified by the Mexican Council of Plastic Surgery (CMCPER), often with US or European training and 10+ years’ experience. Follow-up care. Post-op care abroad can be challenging. Some clinics offer remote consultations to support patients after returning home.
Modern facilities. Procedures use advanced water-assisted liposuction devices and are performed in ISO 9001-accredited clinics, often located in hubs like Tijuana and Cancun. Different regulatory standards. COFEPRIS standards differ from the FDA. However, leading clinics align with international protocols and obtain additional certifications.
Gentler fat removal. Water-assisted Body Jet technique reduces tissue trauma and shortens recovery, with less swelling compared to traditional liposuction. Travel-related risks. Potential risks include blood clots or delayed healing due to travel. These can be reduced by following medical advice and planning recovery time locally.
Personal coordinator support. Bookimed’s medical coordinator helps compare clinics, request personalized quotes, and manage treatment logistics at no additional cost.

It's crucial to thoroughly research clinics and verify surgeon credentials before making a decision. When performed by qualified professionals in reputable facilities, Body Jet liposuction in Mexico can be a safe and cost-effective choice.

I like how fast and easy it was from the start. The surgical facility was small but worked fine. I did not like the post op care. The night nurse was terrible. Her patients were not a priority. Post op care was not made clear. I would have preferred more detailed instructions on after care. I was left guessing about bandages, sprays, medications and scar treatment. Doctor repaired a hernia, of which I was grateful, but would have preferred to have price list in case this occurred so I could have been prepared financially. I felt like price was just made up. So I don't know if I was overcharged. I liked Mexicali as it was a nice quiet clean town. All in all experience was not bad and the price was affordable.
