I cannot recommend Jean more highly
RE: bridge and implants My dental experience for years in the United States just cannot compare. Genna, Alma, Roberto & Alec together form such an effective and responsive team. I felt that I was an excellent hands the entire time, I felt nurtured. These good people were willing to take a lot of time with me. they were willing to answer all of my questions. Even when we were in process, they were willing to take time to make sure that I would be satisfied with our decisions. I spent a fraction of the money that I would’ve spent all my expenses. They are complete and total professionals with modern technology and a true care for their patients. I cannot recommend Jean more highly.
Everything. I’ll add here that the office is a three minute walk from the hotel.
Don’t trust or rely on Hilton’s shuttle service.

This time we contacted the dental center of Mexico Dentavida to Dr. Alberto Guvera. We are very satisfied with the quality of work, the professionalism of Dr. Alberto. But in the case of my husband, a medical mistake was made in Turkish dentistry when installing crowns, which we will try to solve in the near future. Then we will share the results.

Our Veneers Techniques: What Suits You Best?

When considering Veneers, it’s important to understand the different techniques and which is best suited for you. Here’s a concise comparison of popular options:

Porcelain Veneer

A thin layer of porcelain is applied to the surface of teeth to improve appearance and function.

Pros: Durable, lasting 10-15 years with proper care. Resistant to stains, unlike composite veneers which discolor over time.
Cons: Requires more enamel removal compared to lumineers. Higher cost than composite options.
Effectiveness: 95% success rate in improving dental aesthetics.
Duration: 1-2 hours
Recovery: Not needed
Best for: Correcting discoloration, chips, and gaps in 1-2 teeth.
Prices: Cost of Porcelain Veneer in Mexico from $3,335

Composite Veneer

Composite Veneer involves applying a tooth-colored resin to improve the appearance of teeth.

Pros: Quick application. Requires less enamel removal than porcelain veneers. Reversible and easily repairable. Offers immediate results in a single visit.
Cons: Less durable than zirconia veneers, lasting 5-7 years. Prone to staining compared to porcelain veneers.
Effectiveness: Successfully enhances the appearance of chipped, discolored, or misshapen teeth.
Duration: 1-2 hours
Recovery: Not needed
Best for: Small chips, minor discoloration, and slight misalignment. Suitable for those seeking quick cosmetic improvements.
Prices: Cost of Composite Veneer in Mexico from $40

Lumineer

Thin dental shells designed for cosmetic dentistry, enhancing the appearance of teeth with minimal preparation.

Pros: No tooth shaving needed. Suitable for sensitive teeth. Thin design, only about 0.2mm thick, preserves natural tooth structure.
Cons: Less durable than Emax veneers. Not ideal for severe discoloration or significant misalignment issues.
Effectiveness: Durability of up to 10 years.
Duration: 1-2 hours
Recovery: Not needed
Best for: Minor chips, slight discoloration, 1-2 teeth alignment issues.
Prices: Cost of Lumineer in Mexico from $397

Zirconia Veneers

These are strong, durable dental shells used to enhance the appearance of teeth.

Pros: High strength and durability, resisting chipping better than composite veneers. Withstands up to 900 MPa of force, making them ideal for patients with bruxism.
Cons: Less translucent compared to porcelain veneers, which can impact the natural look. Requires more tooth reduction than lumineers.
Effectiveness: Success rate of 91% over 10 years.
Duration: 1-2 hours
Recovery: Not needed
Best for: Patients with heavily discolored teeth or those needing robust restoration. Suitable for individuals with high bite pressure.

Duration: 2-3 hours
Recovery: Not needed

Prices: Cost of Emax veneers in Mexico from $4,970

FAQ about Veneers in Mexico

What are dental veneers?

Dental veneers are thin, custom-made shells designed to cover the front surface of your teeth. They improve their appearance by changing color, shape, size, or length. Typically made from porcelain or resin composite materials, veneers provide a natural tooth appearance and are stain-resistant.

What dental problems can veneers address?

High-quality dental veneers can effectively address the following dental issues:

  • Discolored teeth. Stains from food, drinks, smoking, or certain medications. If teeth whitening hasn't worked for you, dental veneers might be a better option.
  • Chipped or broken teeth. Porcelain and composite veneers also have a place in restorative dentistry since they can mask minor chips and breaks, restoring a smooth and natural look.
  • Small or worn down teeth. Teeth that are worn or dull can age your appearance. Dental veneers can rejuvenate your smile by restoring the teeth's length and shape.
  • Misaligned, uneven, or misshaped teeth. Misshapen teeth can affect your bite and cause discomforts like headaches and jaw pain. Veneers can reshape your natural teeth, improving both appearance and bite alignment.
  • Gaps between teeth. Porcelain and composite veneers can close mild gaps without braces.
  • Damaged enamel. Acidic foods and drinks can erode tooth enamel, causing sensitivity. Although enamel cannot regenerate, Mexico veneers can cover the damaged areas, reducing sensitivity and protecting teeth.

Essentially, dental veneers provide an easy way to achieve a bright, even, symmetric smile. However, they only address cosmetic concerns on the front surfaces of teeth.

Why choose Mexico for dental veneers?

💸Significant savings

The main draw for getting dental veneers in Mexico is the huge cost savings. Dental procedures can be up to 80% cheaper than in the US or the UK. This difference is due to lower operating costs, a lower cost of living, favorable exchange rates, intense competition among dental clinics, and a booming medical tourism industry.

🥇№1 Dental destination for Americans

Mexico is a top dental destination for people from the U.S. and Canada. According to Patients Beyond Borders, around 1.2 million U.S. residents travel to Mexico annually for discounted treatment.

Cities like Los Algodones and Tijuana rely heavily on dental tourism. Dentists and staff in these areas prioritize learning English to ensure easy communication with American patients. The dental practices and surrounding businesses, such as transportation and accommodation providers, are well-equipped to cater to dental tourists. Clinics also assist with logistics, making the entire process seamless.

💎High-quality dental care

Over the past decade, the Mexican federal government has licensed and implemented the accreditation standards set by the Joint Commission, the same body that accredits hospitals in the United States. This means most Mexican hospitals now follow the same high standards used in American hospitals.

Mexican clinics use the latest technology for optimal results. Their in-house labs have advanced equipment, including CBCT, intraoral scanners, and digital and panoramic X-rays

👩🏻‍⚕️Expert cosmetic dentists and nurses

Accredited Mexican hospitals employ doctors who received training and certification in the US or UK. They are often members of professional organizations such as:

  •  the American Dental Association (ADA);
  • the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI);
  • the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO).

A key advantage is the excellent nurse-to-patient ratio, often 1:1 in these facilities. This allows patients to receive more personalized attention compared to typical staffing levels in the US.

✈️Easy accessibility

For residents of border states like Texas and California, traveling to Mexico for dental treatment is especially convenient. Destinations like Cancun or Puerto Vallarta are just a short drive or a quick plane ride away.

⌛Expedited treatment

Dental clinics offering veneers in Mexico have shorter waiting times than in other countries. Patients can receive the best dental veneers promptly and reduce the time spent waiting for appointments and procedures.

💯All-inclusive packages

Dental clinics in Mexico provide comprehensive treatment plans that cover all necessary procedures for dental veneers, plus important logistics like transport and accommodation. This convenience allows patients to undergo the entire process in one location, save time, and streamline the treatment experience.

🧳Travel opportunities

Getting dental veneers in Mexico is a chance to combine treatment with a vacation. Mexico ranks among the top 10 international tourism destinations and is the №1 hotspot for American travelers. It offers beautiful beaches, incredible resorts, and a rich culture. Popular dental tourism destinations include Tijuana, Los Algodones, Los Cabos, and Cancun. These areas are known for their vacation appeal, providing plenty for dental tourists to see and do.

What types of veneers do dental clinics provide in Mexico?

Composite Resin Veneers

Composite veneers, made from composite resin, are the most affordable option. In Mexico, composite veneers can be applied quickly and repaired easily if damaged. Although composite veneers don’t last as long as porcelain veneers, they offer a good cosmetic solution at a lower cost.

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are popular for their durability (10-20 years) and natural appearance. Mexico porcelain veneers are usually 0.5-1 mm thick and require the removal of a thin layer of natural tooth enamel, which makes the process irreversible.

Within the category of porcelain veneers, there are more specific types:

  • Emax porcelain veneers. Made from a type of ceramic, Emax porcelain veneers are typically used for anterior teeth due to their natural look and aesthetic appeal.
  • Zirconia veneers. Zirconia is a strong porcelain material, often used for back teeth because of its durability and strength.

No-Prep Veneers

No-prep veneers, such as Lumineers, require minimal to no enamel removal before application, so the procedure is reversible. They stand out for their ultra-thin design, at just 0.2 millimeters. No-prep veneers can last 5 to 7 years longer than traditional veneers. Ultra-thin Lumineers offer a quick, painless path to a complete smile makeover and are ideal for those looking to preserve their natural tooth structure.

Why do dental veneers cost cheaper in Mexico?

Lower cost of living

In Mexico, the cost of living, including rent, is 84.2% lower than in the US. More specifically, healthcare services cost about 50% less in Mexico. This is partly because drugs also cost less. Additionally, Mexican doctors carry no student debt thanks to government subsidies, reducing their need to charge high fees.

Lower operating costs

Clinics offering dental veneers in Mexico have lower overhead costs than those in the U.S. or Canada. Expenses like rent, salaries, and utilities are significantly lower, allowing clinics to offer cosmetic dental procedures at reduced prices.

Economy of scale

Mexico has a thriving dental tourism industry, accounting for 25% of all dental tourists globally. The high volume of patients allows clinics to operate efficiently and offer competitive prices. For example, Los Algodones, known as "Molar City," sees thousands of dental tourists yearly, many of whom seek dental veneers in Mexico.

Government support

The Mexican government supports medical tourism, which includes dental care. This support translates into better infrastructure and incentives for clinics to maintain high standards at lower costs.

Favorable exchange rates

The favorable exchange rate between the Mexican peso and other currencies, such as the U.S. dollar, means your money goes further when getting teeth veneers in Mexico.

Competitive market

There is intense competition among dental clinics in popular destinations like Los Algodones and Tijuana. In Los Algodones alone, a small town with a population of about 5,000, some 350 dental clinics vie for patients' attention. This competition drives clinics to offer high-quality services at lower prices to attract international patients.

Streamlined processes

Mexican clinics often operate their own in-house dental lab, which reduces costs and speeds up the process. This efficiency allows them to offer lower prices while maintaining high standards of care.

What do veneer packages in Mexico include?

Bookimed’s partner clinics offer all-inclusive packages for composite and porcelain veneers in Mexico, enhancing the patient experience and providing added value. These packages not only include essential dental services but also offer special perks catering to the needs of international patients. Here’s what they usually cover aside from the procedure itself:

  • Consultation with a doctor. An initial consultation to assess your needs and discuss your goals.
  • Preoperative tests and X-rays. Necessary tests and imaging to ensure optimal treatment outcomes.
  • Treatment planning. This may involve a study model, wax-up, or digital smile design to plan the veneer placement precisely.
  • Transfers. Convenient transportation between the airport, hotel, and dental clinic.
  • Hotel accommodation. Stay in a four or five-star hotel for the duration of your treatment and enjoy a complimentary breakfast!
  • Language assistance. Bilingual staff and translators to help you communicate effectively.
  • Follow-up visit. A post-procedure check-up to ensure everything is healing well and the dental veneers are correctly placed.

These packages enable patients to receive complete medical care with comfort.

What is the best place to get veneers in Mexico?

Tijuana

Tijuana is a popular destination for dental veneers in Mexico due to its proximity to the U.S. border. It is directly adjacent to San Diego, California. The distance between Tijuana and the border is approximately 15 miles (24 kilometers), so it’s a very short and convenient trip for patients from the United States. Aside from numerous dental clinics, the city boasts a rich cultural scene and excellent shopping opportunities.

Los Algodones

Known as the “Dental Capital of the World” and "Molar City," Los Algodones has the highest concentration of dental clinics in the world. Located just 20 minutes from Yuma, Arizona, this small border town has dental clinics within walking distance of the border crossing. Even small practices in Los Algodones offer all-inclusive services such as CT scans and panoramic X-rays. They often have in-house labs to produce porcelain and composite resin veneers, dental crowns, and implants on-site. This level of service is rare in the U.S., where dentists typically do not have an in-house dental laboratory.

Cancun

Cancun, located in the Mexican Caribbean, is known for its stunning beaches, vibrant nightlife, and world-class resorts. The services of Cancun dental specialists are quickly gaining a reputation. Imagine starting your day with cosmetic dental treatment and spending the afternoon unwinding on beautiful beaches or visiting ancient Mayan ruins. Although it has fewer dental clinics than border towns, Cancun offers the unique advantage of combining quality cosmetic procedures with a tropical vacation.

Mexicali

Mexicali is another border city known for its high-quality dental services and affordable prices. It has a relaxed, friendly environment with a variety of cultural and recreational activities. Mexicali is also famous for its culinary scene, particularly its unique blend of Chinese and Mexican cuisine, making it an exciting destination for food lovers.

Puerto Vallarta

Puerto Vallarta is a picturesque beach destination known for its excellent dental care, beautiful sunsets, water sports, and vibrant nightlife. Patients can explore the historic old town, dine in gourmet restaurants, and participate in water sports like snorkeling and diving, all while receiving top-notch dental veneer procedures.

Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen, a coastal resort town along the Caribbean shore, is a popular tourist spot with top-tier dental clinics. While receiving dental care, patients can stroll along Quinta Avenida, enjoy sunny beaches, and explore the vibrant local culture. The town's relaxed atmosphere and scenic beauty make it an ideal place for a dental vacation.

Is it safe to get veneers in Mexico?

Yes, it is generally safe to get veneers in Mexico, provided you choose a reputable and accredited dental clinic. A survey published in the Journal of the American Pharmacists Association found that most Americans crossing the U.S.-Mexico border for medical services felt that Mexican healthcare was of the same or better quality than in the U.S., for a lower cost. Almost 94% of survey participants said they would visit Mexico for treatment again in the future.

As with any medical procedure, it's crucial to research your options and read reviews. With proper due diligence, getting dental veneers in Mexico is safe and cost-effective.

How to find the best dentist in Mexico for veneers?

  1. Research credentials. Look for dentists who are members of professional organizations such as the Mexican Dental Association (ADM) and the American Dental Association (ADA). Membership in these organizations indicates that the dentist adheres to high standards of practice and continues their education.
  2. Verify experience. Ensure the dentist has extensive experience in cosmetic dentistry, particularly in placing dental veneers. Ideally, they should have advanced training and certifications in cosmetic dentistry.
  3. Read patient reviews. Check online reviews from previous patients to get a sense of their experiences with the dental surgeon and clinic. Pay attention to feedback about the dentist's chairside manner, communication skills, and the quality of their work.
  4. Consider clinic location. Choose a dental practice in a major city or dental tourism hub, such as Los Algodones, Tijuana, or Cancun. These areas have well-established dental clinics catering to international patients.
  5. Inquire about technology. Top dental clinics in Mexico use advanced technologies like CAD/CAM systems, intraoral scanners, and digital X-rays for precise veneer fabrication and placement.
  6. Check before-and-after photos. The best veneer dentists should have a portfolio of their work. Reviewing before-and-after photos of previous patients can help you assess the quality of their veneer placements.
  7. Schedule a consultation. Use the initial consultation as an opportunity to ask the dentist about their approach, the dental materials they use, and the expected results. Ensure the dentist is communicative and willing to address all your concerns.

How do dentists in Mexico perform the veneer procedure?

Dentists in Mexico follow a meticulous process to ensure that veneers are applied correctly and yield the best possible results. Here are the typical steps involved in the veneer procedure:

  1. Initial consultation. The dentist examines your natural teeth and gums, discusses your goals, and explains veneer options. X-rays or digital images are taken to plan the dental veneer treatment.
  2. Cosmetic treatment planning. The dentist creates a model or digital smile design of your teeth to plan porcelain or composite veneers. A wax model may be made to preview the expected results.
  3. Tooth preparation. The dentist removes a thin enamel layer from the teeth's front surface. They will take an impression of the prepared teeth to craft the custom-made Mexico veneers.
  4. Temporary veneers. Temporary dental veneers may be placed while the permanent ones are being made. However, temporary veneers won’t be necessary if the enamel removal is minimal or not required (as with ultra-thin Lumineers). Likewise, if the dental clinic has in-house labs and can quickly fabricate and bond the permanent veneers, this step can be skipped.
  5. Fabrication of veneers. Technicians craft dental veneers in an in-house lab to match the exact specifications of your natural teeth.
  6. Fitting and bonding. The dentist checks the veneers' fit and appearance, making necessary adjustments. The teeth are cleaned, polished, and etched to create a rough surface for better adhesion. The dentist then applies a special adhesive to the teeth, carefully places the veneers, and cures them with a special light to secure them.
  7. Final adjustments and polishing. The dentist checks your bite, makes any necessary adjustments, and polishes the veneers.

How long do veneers installed in Mexico last?

Like most cosmetic dentistry procedures, dental veneers won't last forever. However, with the proper care and maintenance, they can grace you with a radiant smile for many years to come.

Dental veneers installed in Mexico can last a long time, similar to those installed in the US or other countries, provided they are well cared for. Here’s a general idea of their lifespan:

  • Composite veneers generally last 5 to 7 years and may need replacement or touch-ups sooner than porcelain veneers.
  • Traditional porcelain veneers last between 10 and 15 years, and with proper care, they can last up to 20 years. Zirconia veneers are especially durable, sometimes enduring up to 30 years.
  • No-prep veneers can last up to 20 years with good maintenance.

What aftercare will I need after getting veneers in Mexico?

After getting dental veneers in Mexico, you must follow proper aftercare to ensure the longevity and health of your new Hollywood smile. Here’s a helpful guide on managing aftercare once you return home:

  1. Oral hygiene. Brush your teeth at least twice a day with a non-abrasive toothpaste, floss daily, and use an antibacterial mouthwash to reduce bacteria and prevent gum disease.
  2. Avoiding damage. To prevent chipping or damaging the veneers, don’t bite into hard foods such as ice, nuts, and hard candies. Also, avoid sticky foods that could potentially dislodge the veneers. If you grind your teeth at night, consider wearing a nightguard to protect your veneers from excessive wear and damage.
  3. Regular dental check-ups. Schedule regular check-ups with your local dentist to monitor the condition of your composite or porcelain veneers and overall dental health. Inform your dentist about your dental veneers and provide any relevant information from your dentist in Mexico.
  4. Address sensitivity. Some patients may experience tooth sensitivity after getting veneers in Mexico. If needed, use toothpaste designed for sensitive teeth, and consult your dentist if sensitivity persists or becomes bothersome.
  5. Avoid staining substances. Limit the consumption of foods and beverages that can stain your new teeth, such as coffee, tea, red wine, and tobacco. Rinse your mouth with water after consuming these substances. This is especially pertinent if you get composite veneers since porcelain veneers are more stain-resistant.
  6. Immediate concerns. If you experience any issues such as veneer loosening, discomfort, or damage, contact your local dentist promptly. Keep the contact information of your dentist in Mexico for any follow-up questions or concerns.

What is necessary to travel for veneers in Mexico?

  1. Passport. Ensure that your passport is up to date and will not expire within 6 months of your planned travel dates.
  2. Tourist Card (FMM). All visitors, regardless of nationality, must complete a Forma Migratoria Múltiple (FMM), also known as a tourist card. You can obtain it online before your trip or upon arrival at the airport or border. The FMM is typically valid for up to 180 days. You will have to carry it with you during your stay.
  3. Return ticket. Upon entry to Mexico, travelers may be asked to show proof of a return or onward ticket.

🪪The visa requirements for Mexico vary depending on your nationality. U.S., Canadian, and EU citizens do not need a visa for stays of up to 180 days.
