I'm still healing from my surgery but so far I'm very happy with the result and would recommend the hospital and clinic, and would like to reassure anyone going abroad that you'll be in good hands!
Had a rhinoplasty at B care hospital and the care the team provided was amazing. Just wanted to write this to reassure anyone looking into it, as my family were concerned about me heading out to Thailand to have the procedure as a lot of families would be. The hospital and clinic were sparkling clean. The co-ordinator, nurse and doctor were all just lovely and very attentive to my needs. There was no difficulty communicating with the doctor who went through exactly what would be done during the procedure. One thing I was happy about was the 2 nights in hospital - other places I looked at only gave you one night, or even home the same day. Being sleepy after the surgery, I wouldn't have wanted to go back to my accom the same day. I was grateful I had the lovely nurse Mariko looking after me. Also the room at the hospital was lovely - spacious and bright with a nice en suite and all the facilities you would need. I also realised I had tonsillitis on the day I left the hospital (I think I got it before I even had the surgery) and the team were very caring and made sure I had all the medications I needed for that too, before going back to my accommodation. I'm still healing from my surgery but so far I'm very happy with the result and would recommend the hospital and clinic, and would like to reassure anyone going abroad that you'll be in good hands! Bookimed were also really good at keeping in touch and my coordinator Marsela was patient while I took my time to decide if I was going to go ahead with the procedure in the first place, and was always there to answer any questions I had. All very much appreciated!

I'm very impressed with the outcome
I'm very impressed with the outcome. Bookimed assistant was helpful and arrange a virtual consultation with the consultant. While English was not his strong fort, his expertise made up for it. The staff, especially Margi was extremely valuable as she speaks fluently English. Her knowledge and expertise was well appreciated as well as her care and attentiveness. The staff was nice. I did rhinoplasty and liposuction and I'll very impressed with the outcome. Post op care was provided. The nose did not hurt post op in comparison with the liposuction, which was quite uncomfortable. Not painful, numb and tender I suppose. As to the cost, it's fairly competitive.
The expertise
More English speakers would have been nice.

The language needs to be improved for translation. The doctor needs to spend more time with clients explaining the procedures that will happen. The after care is very intermediate. Any issues raised is hard to explain because of the language difference. A staff are wonderful however I’m not sure about the qualifications felt like I was in an abattoir. Still waiting to see surgeon back in home country as cast taken off to soon and nose is out of shape . Rather concerned but I guess you get what you pay for
The staff are wonderful, but again, not sure about the qualification
Language communication with the consultation very poor and only seen us for three minutes. Photo of what I was expecting. Outcome doesn’t look anything like I specified. When raised with the surgeon was told once again with poor English that it was swelling and a nod of head that all is ok..
About Bookimed service
This is very far from what the photos and staff on booking IMED presented. It felt like a very rough area, hygiene had a lot to stand up for western standard , again staff are wonderful but the language barrier is unbearable when you are getting surgery and worries about certain things that just can’t be answered due to language barriers

I was assured of the professionalism of the doctor and staff and this made me felt more confident of the operation success
I always have doubts on surgery in Bangkok for safety and success level of each operation. However, during the whole process, I was assured of the professionalism of the doctor and staff and this made me felt more confident of the operation success.
1. The staff at the clinic were helpful most of the time, especially if you travel alone. They will provide some helpful insights before and after operation. 2. Operation was smooth in a clean and organized clinic.
1. Transport arrangement maybe limited as there is only one driver.

Very very pleased
Everyone (doctors & staff) were incredibly attentive during my rhinoplasty procedure. I felt heard from the minute I had my consult to the minute I left after my final appointment. The staff were always available and my result was exactly what o wanted. Very very pleased
The doctor listened & the staff were extremely approachable and pro active. The facilities were clean, modern and I felt comfortable throughout.
There was nothing I didn’t like but I feel like a slightly better hotel would make the experience nicer although the staff there were lovely and the place was clean.

Thank you for your hospitality
I thought the level of service was exceptional from collecting the patient from the hotel to driving them back was a nice touch. Looking after the patient (me) to see if I was hungry or thirsty was fantastic service. All staff are great and respectful. Thank you for your hospitality.
When the bandages came off and saw my result for the first time.
A little more patience and empathy with the customer to understand stages as it’s an overwhelming experience and life changing process.

FAQ about Prosthetic nose in Thailand

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Is prosthetic nose surgery in Thailand safe and what are the qualifications of the surgeons?

Prosthetic nose surgery in Thailand is highly safe when performed at JCI-accredited hospitals by surgeons certified by the Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons of Thailand. Leading facilities maintain success rates between 95% and 99% using rigorous sterilization and international safety protocols.

  • Surgeon education: Specialists undergo 14 to 16 years of intensive medical and surgical training.
  • Board certification: Top practitioners hold mandatory Thai Board of Plastic Surgery credentials.
  • International training: Many surgeons complete advanced fellowships in the USA, UK, or South Korea.
  • Hospital standards: Over 60 Thai facilities maintain Joint Commission International accreditation for safety.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thai surgeons often specialize in complex reconstructive cases rather than just cosmetic tweaks. Dr. Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul at ID Clinic Bangkok has performed over 20,000 procedures. This high volume creates a depth of expertise that significantly reduces common prosthetic risks like extrusion.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize the importance of choosing surgeons with over 10 years of experience. They frequently report lower infection rates at top-tier hospitals due to strict pre-operative antibiotic protocols.

What materials are used for the prosthetic nose and which surgical technique is most common?

Prosthetic noses in Thailand are primarily crafted from medical-grade silicone elastomers, valued for their biocompatibility and realistic skin-like texture. The most common surgical technique involves craniofacial bone-anchored titanium implants, which provide a stable, snap-on attachment system using magnets or bars for superior retention.

  • Core materials: Flexible medical-grade silicone mimics natural skin movement and resists UV degradation.
  • Structural components: Rigid acrylic resins or titanium substructures provide necessary internal support and durability.
  • Surgical technique: Osseointegration embeds 2 to 4 titanium abutments directly into the facial bone.
  • Healing timeframe: Implant-retained systems require 4 to 6 weeks for stable bone bonding.
  • Hybrid options: Modern approaches combine titanium implants with magnets for easier daily prosthetic positioning.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thailand’s tropical climate significantly impacts prosthetic choice, as high humidity often weakens traditional medical adhesives. Data suggests that patients in Bangkok increasingly opt for titanium implant-retained systems because they eliminate the skin irritation and frequent reapplication issues caused by perspiration.

Patient Consensus: Many patients find that while silicone offers incredible realism, the switch from adhesives to bone-anchored implants provides a life-changing boost in confidence and physical comfort.

What are the potential complications and how are they managed?

Prosthetic nose complications in Thailand, such as infection or implant extrusion, are managed through sterile surgical protocols, targeted antibiotics, and high-quality materials. Surgeons like Dr. Prapas Teerakul at Intrarat Hospital use advanced otolaryngology techniques to ensure proper fixation, reducing risks of migration or tissue necrosis.

  • Infection management: Doctors prescribe targeted antibiotics or perform emergency removal if pus or odors occur.
  • Implant migration: Surgeons fix shifting prosthetics using secondary surgery with stable materials like Gore-Tex.
  • Tissue necrosis: Clinics treat skin thinning or tissue death with debridement and hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
  • Contracture prevention: Medical teams recommend regular steroid or kenalog injections to prevent long-term scar warping.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thailand's humid climate significantly increases external prosthetic infection risks compared to cooler regions. Data from ID Clinic Bangkok shows a 95% success rate for nasal procedures, partly because top surgeons now prioritize custom 3D-printed implants over cheaper silicone. Choosing clinics that bundle local hotel stays for 14 days ensures immediate professional response to early warning signs.

Patient Consensus: Many patients emphasize checking material quality beforehand to avoid rejection. They often recommend securing all-inclusive packages that cover potential revision surgeries for a safer recovery experience.

Am I a good candidate for getting a prosthetic nose in Thailand?

p>You are a good candidate for a prosthetic nose in Thailand if you have significant nasal tissue loss from cancer, trauma, or burns and prefer a non-surgical solution. Ideal candidates seek high-fidelity silicone restoration when surgical reconstruction is medically risky or requires more healing time.

  • Tissue loss: Suitable for total or partial rhinotomy following squamous cell carcinoma or severe burns.
  • Surgical preference: Recommended for patients wishing to avoid complex, multi-stage surgical nasal reconstruction procedures.
  • Health status: Ideal if advanced age or underlying conditions make general anesthesia too risky.
  • Retention type: Candidates can choose between adhesive-retained systems or implant-supported titanium magnetic attachments.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While Thailand is a major hub for cosmetic rhinoplasty, medical-grade nasal prosthetics require rare anaplastology expertise. Data suggests focusing on JCI-accredited facilities in Bangkok rather than smaller aesthetic clinics. High humidity in Thailand can degrade prosthetic adhesives faster, making magnet-retained implants a more durable choice for long-term wearers.

Patient Consensus: Many patients find that while maintenance costs for reglueing are lower in Thailand, the local climate requires more frequent cleaning. Always verify that your provider specializes in maxillofacial prosthetics rather than just standard cosmetic nose jobs.

What is the expected recovery timeline and how long should I stay in Thailand?

Patients should plan to stay in Thailand for 10 to 14 days following prosthetic nose surgery. This timeframe allows for essential monitoring of graft stability and suture removal. While initial swelling subsides within 2 weeks, full aesthetic results typically settle between 6 and 12 months.

  • Travel window: Stay at least 10 days before flying to avoid pressure-related graft complications.
  • Initial recovery: Expect peak swelling by day 5, with basic functionality returning after 1 week.
  • Activity restrictions: Avoid bending tasks and using straws during the first 7 days post-surgery.
  • Long-term healing: Soft tissues take 6 to 9 months to fully adapt and soften naturally.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data from Bangkok clinics like ID Clinic shows that specialized surgeons often recommend a 12-day minimum stay. This specifically protects rib grafts from shifting during cabin pressure changes. Extending your stay to 3 weeks provides a safety buffer for managing early asymmetry or minor infections. Having a 20% budget reserve is wise for any localized post-op adjustments.

Patient Consensus: Many note the nose feels very firm at 1 month but softens significantly by month 6. Patients emphasize using saline sprays during the flight home to maintain moisture and comfort.

Is the cosmetic result permanent and how will my new nose feel?

Prosthetic noses in Thailand provide semi-permanent results lasting 5 to 10 years with proper maintenance. While medical-grade silicone remains durable, natural skin changes and adhesive wear require periodic adjustments. Most patients report a lightweight, flexible feel that mimics real skin within 2 months.

  • Material durability: High-quality silicone resists yellowing for 5 to 10 years before replacing.
  • Attachment method: Semi-permanent medical adhesives require regular cleaning rituals to maintain secure suction.
  • Initial sensation: Expect temporary itchiness or tightness as the skin adapts to the prosthesis.
  • Long-term feel: The device warms to body temperature quickly, feeling natural and flexible daily.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data from centers like ID Clinic Bangkok shows high satisfaction with silicone customization. Patients in humid climates like Thailand must prioritize breathable adhesives to prevent premature lifting. UV protectant sprays are also essential to prevent color fading from intense sun exposure.

Patient Consensus: Many describe the prosthetic as a perfectly fitting mask that eventually needs refreshing. Users often mention a brief phantom itch that fades once the device feels like part of them.

Will there be visible scars and how early can I resume makeup or shaving?

Visible scars from a prosthetic nose procedure in Thailand are typically minimal or non-existent, as surgeons often use internal nostril incisions. External scars from open techniques usually fade into thin, discreet lines at the columella within 6 to 12 months. Patients can generally resume light makeup after 7 to 14 days and shaving with an electric razor after 5 to 7 days once incisions close.

  • Incision placement: Closed rhinoplasty techniques at clinics like ID Clinic Bangkok leave no external scars.
  • Scar maturation: External marks typically transition from pink to a faint white line by month 6.
  • Makeup timeline: Mineral-based products are safe after 10 days to prevent irritation and potential infection.
  • Shaving precautions: Use electric razors for 2 weeks to avoid pulling skin near the upper lip.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Surgeons in Bangkok often perform over 4,000 procedures annually, leading to high precision in scar management. While the humid Thai climate can increase swelling initially, following a strict silicone gel regimen from week 2 significantly accelerates the flattening of columellar scars. Choosing a specialist like Dr. Prapas Teerakul at Intrarat Hospital ensures ENT-level expertise for structural integrity and skin health.

Patient Consensus: Most patients report that incisions are nearly invisible after 3 months. Many emphasize the importance of using high-SPF sunscreen daily to prevent scars from darkening in the tropical sun.
