He knew exactly what my 25yrs old hearing loss problem was and what needed to be done and just did and corrected my hearing instantly!
I am extremely happy that I landed on the hands of an ENT expert , " Prof.Dr. Yavus. He knew exactly what my 25yrs old hearing loss problem was and what needed to be done and just did and corrected my hearing instantly! The medical team, from reception,/admin, translators, lab techs, surgery and docs are great, these are professionals who are properly trained. My one night hospital stay in the room after my ear surgery was a five stars 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 experience. Very clean and quite room, with spacious washroom with all amenities in place. You can sit and work on your laptop if you can, sit and read a book or watch out through the window if you like or just lay in your hospital bed and take naps. No pain! Everything about the room was excellent! The nurses on night duty checked me every hour or less to monitor my temperature and/blood pressure. This was angelic 👌 And then I had a soft diet in the morning to break my 24hrs fast, isn't this enough care to appreciate? Doc was happy to learn I can hear! He was successful in his work.💪💪💪 If you have an ENT problem, look out for this hospital and ask for Prof.Dr Yavuz. He shows you and explains what your problem is on a projector and tells you instantly he can correct it and does that with no pain. Was half the price I would have paid in the UK. I met an Orthopaedic surgeon too to address my knees pain. Dr. Tusuf Bayram. An expert in his office. I thought I needed an MRI but no, I explained, he examined, did an x-ray and knew what was wrong, what needs to be done and did what he could. Simple! Three GP visits with an x-ray didn't see my problem but he did. If you got similar problem, please look no further than here.😃🤞 However, I had too many coordinators from both Bookimed and Hisar hospital several.months when planning my treatment. If there is anything I would ask you to improve, kindly stick to one from bookimed and one from the hospital please. To coordinate exceedingly, you need to understand a patient's concern, interest and goal. I did not meet a Neurosurgeon I should have met as planned, because he was given an appointment to meet me on a day that I was on air travelling in the night, how could this be! He had videos of my other neural conditions and had more information about my condition beforehand than the Neurosurgeon I met a day after. And I came back unsatisfied with my neural recommendation. Attached is my pic with my ear Surgeon , five days after my surgery. Look out for him!😍
Recovering my hearing loss.
I was not happy meeting a Neurosurgeon I didn't interact with during the planning months. She was physically examining me and not explaining what she was looking out for and why. And then made another test I had to ask what for and even so, the reason I was given wasn't satisfactory. I mean, it should explain what exactly she is investigating. An expert medical personnel does that. Doctors Yavus and Yusuf did!
About Bookimed service
Was good, they helped me get a cheaper hospital to address my medical conditions than a hospital I had actually found online. Only problem was the miss coordination between the initial Neurosurgeon and the day we should have met.

I am very satisfied and grateful for the care I received
I had a very positive experience at Anadolu Hospital in Istanbul. Everything was very well organized, and I was especially impressed by the professionalism and kindness of the assistants, the translator, and most of all, the doctors. I truly felt supported and well taken care of throughout the process. I would like to extend a special thank you to Mrs. Meriem for her exceptional assistance — her help was truly invaluable. If I may offer one small remark, it would be that the brain MRI report was a bit limited in detail. Aside from that, everything was impeccable. I am very satisfied and grateful for the care I received. Thank you again to the entire team!

This service works at the highest level thanks to such managers
In a very quick time Bookimed manager (introduced himself as Stanislav) found the best offer from various options that I found in terms of quality, price and location. This service works at the highest level thanks to such managers. I have forwarded this service to several friends from Turkey to use it too. The clinic is 100% satisfied with the results, examination, competence, speed and attitude. There was a wonderful girl interpreter, who professionally performed her work and at the same time with humanity treated us as patients (and this is very often lacking in hospitals).
Everything from the start of my enquiry to the results and the doctor's treatment.
In general, the price in Turkey certainly shocked, but of all the options that we found in this country, it was the most acceptable option
About Bookimed service
Top service, top manager, service that is really needed and helps in difficult situations. When you often move and just do not know how the medical field works in different countries and you need to improve your health, these guys can you absolutely professional and (in my case) quickly find the right option! Bravo!

Our check up went fairly quickly and pleasantly. The medical staff was very attentive to our questions. The interpreter was helpful everywhere, I don't know how we would have managed without them. All the health questions we were interested in were answered and we received recommendations. They helped us to order the necessary vitamins.

They told us to take replacement shoes for the treadmill, this is written in the preparation instructions, the two of us brought replacement shoes
They didn’t warn that some of the tests were done on an empty stomach! They told us to take replacement shoes for the treadmill, this is written in the preparation instructions, the two of us brought replacement shoes, because of which we bought luggage, in fact - on the path we were wearing ordinary street sneakers! Queues!!! There were queues all around, we waited for a therapist for more than an hour, for an ophthalmologist for more than 40 minutes, a lot of time was spent waiting at the door, although we had a VIP check-in package! Doctors without coats, in jeans, sweaters, in which they walk down the street! The cardiologist was talking on a mobile phone during an ultrasound of the heart! The gynecologist did not give any recommendations, spent 1 minute on the examination, there was no answer to the questions, everything was very superficial, the doctors did not devote time, despite the fact that people flew from another country specifically for this! But the Turks sit for an hour in the office for consultations! Like a conveyor belt and formal! A number of deviations were identified - no recommendations, what is this for? How to look for the cause and eliminate it? Go take your vitamins - a very unprofessional approach! The clinic coordinator also wrote strange messages in response to my complaint that the cardiologist was talking on his mobile phone during the ultrasound and was not wearing a gown - like this is normal for them, but we have never seen this anywhere else! The price for some tests was announced at the reception twice as much, I had to find out on the spot and write to everyone about this - why was the price announced the same, but in fact it is 2 times different?! There are many nuances, just like for a VIP check-in. You can just get tested everywhere and cheaper, in this clinic there is no individual approach and the doctors don’t care - it’s noticeable, we won’t come to this place again.

Hello . My husband and I flew in for an examination, to have a gastroscopy of the stomach and an MRI of the spine, the MRI still hasn’t returned the results, it’s been two weeks. Secondly, they asked to do an MRI of the entire spine, but it turned out they only did the lower back, because... Clinic coordinator Maria thought that we only needed an MRI of the lower back; all appointments were on hold for more than an hour. The appointment was for one time, they came in 1-1.5 hours later. We repeatedly asked coordinator Maria to send the result with a translation, and asked to send a disk with the MRI result. As a result, all the blame was placed on the translator that she translated the information to us incorrectly, in fact, Maria’s manner of speaking is very rude, she could simply say “It’s your own fault, you misunderstood us.” We were disappointed in the clinic. And all the disappointment was spoiled only because of the coordinator Maria, by the way, our number was blocked without sending the result. I do not recommend going to this clinic. I only wanted to speak about the clinic coordinator Maria, I wanted to post correspondence with her, but she deleted some messages and blocked my number. Inability to work with a patient, inability to listen, inability to follow through with a patient. Rude, irresponsible, evil woman coordinator Maria, correspondence was with her to this number +90 501 708 86 84. 2 weeks passed and we still haven’t received the test result. Only because of such staff we will never return to the clinic.

No, I didn't like it. Prices are inflated. Doctors sway to the passage of various unnecessary studies. They themselves cannot determine for sure whether this procedure is necessary. The purpose of the trip is the selection of therapy for genetic analysis. As for the doctor, I had a very short consultation with the doctor, at which she expressed her opinion about the therapy and did not let me ask a single question because there was the next patient.

I was shuffled to 3 different locations with a translator, then made to pay translator for test conducted, in cash, in the lobby of the third facility. FAQ about Diagnostics in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Why is Turkey a popular choice for medical diagnostics?

Turkey is a global leader in medical diagnostics due to its high concentration of JCI-accredited hospitals and advanced technology. Patients access rapid screenings with 70% to 90% cost savings compared to the US or UK. Most diagnostic results are available within 24 to 48 hours.

  • Accreditation: Turkey hosts approximately 50 JCI-accredited facilities, ensuring rigorous international safety and quality standards.
  • Expertise: Specialists like Dr. Tamer Atasever at Medipol Mega University Hospital bring 35+ years of experience.
  • Technology: Clinics utilize advanced systems like the Da Vinci Surgical System, Cyber Knife, and PET-CT.
  • Efficiency: Diagnostic workups often begin within 3 to 7 days of the initial inquiry.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows that high-volume centers like Medipol Mega University Hospital, serving 1,000,000 patients annually, often provide the fastest turnaround for complex lab tests. Their massive scale allows them to maintain specialized in-house laboratories. This reduces the risk of sample degradation during transport and speeds up result delivery.

Patient Consensus: Patients often mention how easy it is to combine a full-body check-up with a short holiday. They note that the process is incredibly efficient, with one patient specifically highlighting that they received immediate answers to long-standing health concerns.

What types of diagnostic `check-up` packages are available for foreign patients?

Turkish clinics offer tiered diagnostic packages including basic, female, male, and executive screenings. Most programs provide results within 1 to 3 days at JCI-accredited facilities in Istanbul. These bundles typically combine laboratory tests, advanced imaging, and specialist consultations to assess cardiovascular health and cancer risks.

  • Basic check-up: Costs $100 to $200 for essential blood work and vitals.
  • Gender-specific programs: Female check-ups cost $200 to $300, adding mammograms or Pap smears.
  • Male check-ups: Priced from $200 to $300, including prostate ultrasounds and PSA tests.
  • Executive screenings: Intensive evaluations involving CT scans, MRIs, and cardiac stress tests for deep health insights.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Clinics with high international volumes, like Anadolu Medical Center or Hisar Hospital Intercontinental, often include personal interpreters and airport transfers in their basic diagnostic fees. This setup is particularly efficient in Istanbul, where hospitals like Memorial Şişli use on-site labs to deliver digital results for your home doctor within 24 hours.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that having a dedicated translator is essential for navigating the fast-paced testing schedule. Many are surprised that even basic packages often include eye and ENT exams alongside standard blood work.

How long does the complete diagnostic process take?

A complete medical diagnostic workup in Turkey typically takes 3 to 5 business days at private medical centers. This timeframe covers the process from the initial specialist consultation to the final reports. Same-day or next-day appointments for imaging like MRI or CT scans are frequently available.

  • Private facility timeline: Diagnostic results are usually finalized within 3 to 5 business days.
  • Public hospital duration: Testing and reporting processes often require 2 to 4 weeks.
  • Imaging availability: Private clinics frequently offer same-day or next-day MRI and CT appointments.
  • Specialized testing: Complex biopsies or genetic panels may extend the timeline by several days.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Our data shows that high-volume centers like Hisar Hospital Intercontinental and Anadolu Medical Center optimize timelines by keeping diagnostic technology in-house. While patients often focus on scan times, the real differentiator is the interpretation speed. Top-rated clinics with 4.5+ ratings typically provide specialist reviews within 24 hours of the scan, whereas smaller facilities may take 3 to 7 days to schedule the follow-up meeting.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that arriving with previous scans on a USB drive can speed up the process to a single day for clinical review. However, some warn to confirm fasting requirements beforehand to avoid 24-hour delays for certain blood tests or gastric exams.

What should I do to prepare for my diagnostic appointment in Turkey?

Diagnostic preparation in Turkey requires organizing digital medical records, including high-resolution imaging on USB or PDF files. Patients must follow specific clinical instructions like fasting for 8–12 hours before blood tests. You should also confirm your appointment via WhatsApp 2-3 days in advance to prevent common scheduling delays.

  • Medical documentation: Bring printed and digital copies of past surgical reports and diagnostic imaging results.
  • Clinical instructions: Follow strict fasting or dietary rules to ensure accurate lab test results.
  • Logistical planning: Budget 1.5–3 hours longer for appointments to account for translation and testing.
  • Language support: Use translation apps or request multilingual international patient coordinators at accredited centers.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While clinics like Anadolu Medical Center or Medipol Mega serve over 65,000 to 1,000,000 patients annually, they often require payment in Turkish Lira despite quoting in USD or EUR. Notify your bank about international transactions beforehand to avoid card blocks during your visit. This simple step prevents payment delays when receiving your 5–10 day diagnostic reports.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize bringing comfortable shoes for physical tests and warn that diagnostic visits can take a full day. Many note that having an interpreter is essential for clarifying complex medical recommendations with doctors.

What happens if a diagnostic test reveals a health issue?

Identifying a health issue during diagnostics in Turkey triggers a structured medical path. Specialists first verify findings through a contextual review of medical history and symptoms. Turkish centers then provide a consultation with creation of treatment plan to determine the next steps immediately.

  • Expert verification: Physicians compare results against clinical symptoms to rule out any temporary variations.
  • Follow-up diagnostics: Doctors may order an MRI or CT scan to gain more detail.
  • Immediate consultation: Specialists like Dr. Serap Kaya provide evidence-based plans for complex oncology cases.
  • Surgical options: Clinics offer diagnostic laparoscopy if a minimally invasive physical inspection is required.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkish hospitals like Medipol Mega University Hospital manage massive volumes, often seeing 1,200 patients daily. This high turnover ensures diagnostics are streamlined. If a check-up reveals a minor issue like anemia or high blood pressure, clinics often provide immediate iron infusions or medication rather than canceling scheduled procedures.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that while waiting times for results can vary, doctors are very committed and identify problems quickly. It is helpful to ask for reports in English, as some findings may initially be provided in Turkish.

Are there language barriers for international patients?

International patients face minimal language barriers in Turkey due to mandatory support systems at accredited hospitals. Leading centers provide dedicated personal interpreters and multilingual medical staff to facilitate diagnostics. JCI-accredited facilities in Istanbul and Antalya typically offer services in English, Arabic, and Russian.

  • Professional interpreters: Anadolu Medical Center and Memorial Şişli provide personal coordinators for seamless communication.
  • Multilingual doctors: Specialists like Prof. Tamer Atasever often speak fluent English and Turkish.
  • Accreditation standards: JCI-accredited hospitals must provide clear medical documentation in the patient preferred language.
  • Support services: Support staff help with everything from pharmacy visits to explaining test results.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Our data shows that top-rated clinics like Memorial Şişli and Anadolu Medical Center serve patients from over 160 countries. These high-volume centers integrate translation services directly into their diagnostic flow. This setup ensures that interpreters are present from the initial blood test to the final MRI report. This structure significantly reduces the risk of medical errors compared to smaller, non-accredited clinics.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that having a dedicated translator makes the process stress-free and smooth. Many were surprised to find that medical staff often speak better English than providers in their own home countries.

How long does a full diagnostic check-up take, and when do I receive the results?

A full diagnostic check-up in Turkey typically takes 4 to 8 hours on-site. Standard evaluations, including bloodwork and basic imaging, deliver results within 24 hours. Specialized screenings like biopsies or genetic tests may require 3 to 21 days for detailed laboratory analysis.

  • Clinic time: Most patients complete all physical screenings within 1 full day.
  • Initial results: Basic labs and ultrasounds are often available by the same evening.
  • Specialized scans: MRI or CT reports usually take 24 to 48 hours for review.
  • Package duration: Executive health checks are designed for 1-day completion at Istanbul centers.

Bookimed Expert Insight: High-volume centers like Hisar Hospital Intercontinental process over 250,000 patients yearly by using integrated on-site laboratories. This infrastructure allows them to bundle consultations, imaging, and blood tests into a single morning session. Scheduling your appointment for 7:00 AM or 8:00 AM is essential to ensure same-day result delivery.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that the process is much faster than in Western countries, with many receiving full reports via email by the same evening. It is helpful to have a translator or app ready, as while most reports are in English, some verbal discussions may need clarification.

Are Turkish diagnostic facilities internationally accredited and what quality standards do they meet?

Turkish diagnostic facilities are globally recognized for excellence. Over 40-50 institutions hold Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation. These centers meet rigorous safety and quality benchmarks. Facilities also adhere to ISO 15189 and ISO 9001:2015 standards. This ensures world-class accuracy in laboratory and imaging results.

  • International benchmarks: JCI Gold Seal signifies peak patient safety and clinical care quality.
  • Laboratory standards: ISO 15189 certification ensures medical labs provide technically competent results.
  • Digital health: Many Turkish centers achieve HIMSS Stage 6 or 7 for advanced infrastructure.
  • Government oversight: The Ministry of Health performs regular audits to ensure hygiene compliance.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Clinical volume often dictates diagnostic speed and accuracy in Istanbul. For example, Anadolu Medical Center and Hisar Hospital Intercontinental handle 65,000 to 250,000 patients yearly. This massive data flow allows their JCI-accredited labs to maintain higher precision and faster turnaround times than smaller, non-accredited clinics.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that scans like MRI or CT are much faster than in Western countries. They emphasize the importance of choosing JCI-accredited chains to ensure results are orignially provided in English and accepted internationally.

What documents and preparation are required before starting the diagnostic tests?

Registration for diagnostic tests in Turkey requires a valid passport and any previous medical reports if available. Patients typically undergo fresh screenings like complete blood count or MRI of one area upon arrival. Specific prep like 8–12 hour fasting is standard for blood panels and abdominal ultrasounds.

  • Identification: A valid passport is the primary document required for hospital registration and records.
  • Medical history: Bring copies of previous X-rays or pathology reports to assist diagnostic transitions.
  • Dietary prep: Fast for 8–12 hours before glucose tests, cholesterol panels, or abdominal scans.
  • Physical prep: Avoid deodorants before mammograms and remove all metal objects for MRI screenings.

Bookimed Expert Insight: High-volume centers like Medipol Mega University Hospital, serving 1,000,000 patients yearly, prioritize efficiency by performing all lab tests on-site. Data shows that JCI-accredited clinics in Istanbul often bundle initial consultations with treatment plan creation. This frequently allows patients to complete diagnostics and receive results within a single day.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that hospitals usually handle all new tests on arrival, so extensive prior paperwork is rarely necessary. Most emphasize that having a digital copy of your passport and proof of deposit is enough to start the process immediately.

Do Turkish hospitals provide language assistance for international patients?

Turkish private hospitals provide comprehensive language assistance through dedicated international patient departments. Facilities like Anadolu Medical Center and Memorial Şişli Hospital employ multilingual coordinators. These experts accompany patients during diagnostics and consultations. Support is commonly available in English, Arabic, Russian, German, and French.

  • Personal coordinators: Multilingual hosts assist with medical history, consent forms, and doctor consultations.
  • Government support: A 24/7 hotline (+90 850 288 38 38) offers translation for health issues.
  • Clinic-specific staff: Major centers like Hisar Hospital Intercontinental provide in-house translators for international patients.
  • English documentation: JCI-accredited facilities often provide diagnostic reports and discharge summaries in English.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Language support quality correlates strongly with patient volume and accreditation. Hospitals serving over 50,000 international patients annually, like Anadolu Medical Center, integrate translators directly into the clinical workflow. This prevents communication gaps during complex diagnostics like PET-CT or biopsies. In smaller clinics, staff may rely on translation apps. This can lead to minor misunderstandings regarding specialized test instructions.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that having a dedicated translator makes the diagnostic process much smoother and less stressful. Some recommend requesting all medical reports in English upfront to avoid translation delays later.

What types of diagnostic tests are most commonly included in Turkish check-up packages?

Turkish check-up packages typically include a complete blood count, metabolic panels, and organ function tests for the liver and kidneys. Imaging diagnostics like chest X-rays and abdominal ultrasounds are standard. Specialized screenings for heart health, including ECG, and gender-specific cancer markers are common in comprehensive tiers.

  • Laboratory tests: Include glucose, cholesterol profiles, and thyroid panels for metabolic health.
  • Imaging diagnostics: Abdominal ultrasound and chest X-rays evaluate internal organ and lung status.
  • Cardiology screenings: Resting ECG is standard to monitor heart rhythm and cardiovascular function.
  • Advanced screenings: Specialized packages add colonoscopy, mammography, or PSA tests for cancer prevention.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data from Anadolu Medical Center and Hisar Hospital shows a trend toward same-day results for basic screenings. High-volume centers often use on-site labs to provide final reports within 24 hours. This efficiency makes Istanbul a primary hub for international patients seeking rapid health assessments.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that basic packages are very efficient, but specialized tests like colonoscopies or dental exams often require separate requests. Many suggest confirming in advance that all medical reports will be provided in English to avoid translation delays later.

What happens after the diagnostic tests, and how can I follow up when I return home?

Diagnostic results in Turkey are typically available on the same day or within 24 hours. Specialists review these findings to create a personalized treatment plan before you depart. Most patients receive clearance to fly within 1 to 2 days after completing their clinical tests.

  • Result timelines: Blood tests and imaging usually provide same-day or next-day digital results.
  • Biopsy reports: Tissue samples may require up to 7 days for full pathological analysis.
  • Medical reports: Ensure you receive all diagnostic summaries as English-language PDF documents before departure.
  • Flight clearance: Most patients are fit to travel 24–48 hours after non-invasive diagnostic procedures.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data from Anadolu Medical Center and Memorial Şişli Hospital shows a pattern of high-volume efficiency where diagnostic results are synchronized with consultant schedules. Patients often finish tests in the morning and receive a full treatment strategy by late afternoon. This rapid turnaround is unique to Turkish JCI-accredited hubs and prevents the need for extended hotel stays.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize the importance of setting up WhatsApp communication with the clinic team before flying home. One patient noted that having a local doctor ready to review the Turkish reports made the transition to home care much smoother.

What kind of visa do I need to enter Turkey for diagnostic purposes?

Most international patients enter Turkey for diagnostics using a standard e-Visa or visa-exempt status. Citizens from the UK, Germany, and France enjoy visa-free entry for 90 days. US, Canadian, and Australian travelers typically apply for an e-Visa online before arrival for short-term medical stays.

  • Visa-exempt entry: Citizens from 70+ countries enter without a visa for 90 days.
  • e-Visa eligibility: Available for US and Australian citizens via an online portal.
  • Sticker visa: Required for stays over 90 days or specific nationalities at consulates.
  • Entry documents: Carry a clinic invitation letter and valid travel health insurance.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Our data shows that patients visiting high-volume centers like Anadolu Medical Center or Hisar Hospital Intercontinental rarely need formal medical visas for diagnostics. A standard tourist entry is sufficient for check-ups and lab tests. This flexibility allows patients to start diagnostic programs within 48-72 hours of booking.

Patient Consensus: Patients note that a standard tourist visa works seamlessly for diagnostic visits. They emphasize having appointment letters and insurance ready. Most find the process straightforward without mentioning medical details at customs.
