This created an impression of a professional and well-prepared approach
Our son is 6 years old and has been diagnosed with ASD. We arrived at Memorial Şişli Clinic on Monday. On the same day, we had a consultation with Dr. Betül Tavil. The doctor carefully examined our son and immediately began asking questions, to which she seemed to already have some answers. This created an impression of a professional and well-prepared approach. After the consultation, the doctor recommended stem cell therapy. With our consent, the cells were ordered immediately, considering they would be delivered to the clinic within three days. On the same day, we provided four vials of blood. Three days later, the stem cell administration procedure took place. The total dose consisted of 50 million cells: 1% was administered into the spinal cord, and the remainder was given via intravenous infusion. The procedure itself lasted approximately 10–15 minutes and went smoothly. Afterward, a supportive IV drip was administered to the child. Overall, we stayed in the hospital for about 4–4.5 hours, after which we were discharged. At this point, we have observed no side effects in the child.
Prompt service, and the doctor, Betul Tavil, is very personable and I confidently say she is truly a professional in her field.
About Bookimed service
Our experience collaborating with Bookimed was very pleasant. Communication was easy and clear — our messages were always answered promptly, all issues were explained in detail, and helpful advice was provided. When necessary, Bookimed representatives contacted us by phone, which was particularly convenient and reassuring. It felt like they genuinely wanted to help us, rather than just respond formally. Thank you to the Bookimed team for your support, attentiveness, and human approach. We are left with only positive impressions.

The only thing I was lucky about was the interpreter Natalia, who is really empathetic and responsible. A good anaesthesiologist. Then there is one disappointment. Someone may be lucky with the doctors in this clinic, but we expected different results.

The analyses did not reveal autism in the child, we are happy
I liked everything, I was a little scared when my son was taken to the mrt, but thank you everything went well, the analyses did not reveal autism in the child, we are happy, the cause of zprr is not known. Speech therapy and vitamins are prescribed. Further time will show. The clinic is clean and comfortable. However, the price for pulling a tooth was significantly high compared to other clinics because at that moment I had a toothache. Significantly high is 10 times more expensive, but in principle, the clinic is large, clean, and the devices are new.

FAQ about Autism treatment in Turkey

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What are the primary approaches to autism treatment in Turkey?

Autism treatment in Turkey integrates clinically proven behavioral therapies like Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) with advanced neuromodulation and regenerative medicine. Top-tier facilities in Istanbul, such as NP Istanbul Brain Hospital and Memorial Şişli, provide multidisciplinary care including speech therapy, sensory integration, and JCI-accredited diagnostic evaluations.

  • Behavioral interventions: Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and TEACCH methods focus on social communication skills.
  • Medical technology: Deep Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Neurofeedback target neurological balance in specialized centers.
  • Regenerative options: Stem cell therapy using mesenchymal cells is available at leading hospital groups.
  • Intensive programs: 30-day hospitalization packages offer concentrated therapy and comprehensive neurodevelopmental monitoring.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkey stands out for its integrated neuro-psychiatric model where diagnosis and treatment happen under one roof. While many countries separate clinical therapy from medical diagnostics, centers like NP Istanbul Brain Hospital combine MRI, EEG, and genetic testing with immediate behavioral intervention. This streamlined approach allows for faster adjustments to therapy plans based on real-time brain function measurements.

Patient Consensus: Families appreciate the professional preparation and smooth administration of intensive therapies. They often highlight the value of having dedicated interpreters who help navigate complex medical consultations and diagnostic results.

Is stem cell therapy available for autism in Turkey?

Stem cell therapy for autism is available in Turkey at JCI-accredited centers like Liv Hospital and NP Istanbul Brain Hospital. Specialized protocols using umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells target neuroinflammation. Treatments are often combined with multidisciplinary evaluations, repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation, and intensive behavioral therapies.

  • Available techniques: Clinics offer intrathecal injections and intravenous infusions of mesenchymal stem cells.
  • Leading facilities: Liv Hospital houses a GMP-standard laboratory for high-quality, certified cell production.
  • Expert specialists: Doctors like Yakup Erdogan publish peer-reviewed research on autism spectrum disorder.
  • Clinical approach: Intensive 30-day hospitalization packages at NP Istanbul include MRI, EEG, and CT.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many clinics offer quick 1-day infusions, Bookimed data shows high-tier institutions like NP Istanbul Brain Hospital provide 30-day intensive stays. These longer programs integrate diagnostic work-ups and multiple therapy modalities. Choosing these comprehensive packages ensures a more rigorous medical oversight than simple outpatient injections.

Patient Consensus: Families value the professional coordination and smooth, 15-minute procedures without side effects. However, many advise starting with a single test cycle and maintaining established behavioral therapies alongside regenerative treatments.

What are the eligibility criteria for stem cell therapy?

Medical eligibility for stem cell therapy requires a stable diagnosis, such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and the absence of active infections or uncontrolled malignancies. Candidates must possess baseline organ function to ensure procedural safety during intravenous or intrathecal administration at JCI-accredited facilities.

  • Age range: Clinics typically prioritize children aged 2 to 12 years for optimal neuroplasticity.
  • Medical stability: Patients must have no active viral, bacterial, or fungal infections during treatment.
  • Neurological status: Recent EEG and MRI results help doctors confirm suitability and exclude structural issues.
  • Exclusion criteria: Active cancer, severe organ failure, or pregnancy generally disqualify patients from therapy.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Turkish clinics often accept patients with higher autism severity levels than Western centers, provided there is no uncontrolled epilepsy. Data from NP Istanbul Brain Hospital shows that a 7-day diagnostic evaluation is the most reliable way to confirm candidacy before committing to a full 30-day intensive protocol.

Patient Consensus: Parents recommend recording videos of the child’s behavior for initial consultations to speed up approval. While most children qualify regardless of severity, those under 10 years often show the most noticeable sensory and social gains.

How do I begin the treatment process from abroad?

Beginning autism treatment in Turkey from abroad starts with submitting your child medical history, behavioral videos, and diagnostic reports for a remote clinical review. JCI-accredited facilities like NP Istanbul Brain Hospital or Memorial Sisli provide video consultations to establish personalized intensive therapy or stem cell protocols before travel.

  • Medical documentation: Share full history, including previous EEG results, MRI scans, and individual education plans.
  • Initial consultation: Schedule video calls with specialists like Dr. Lale Allahyarova to discuss therapy goals.
  • Travel logistics: Secure an e-visa and arrange 7 to 30 days for stays or hospitalization.
  • Package confirmation: Verify inclusions like airport transfers, translation services, and inpatient costs in writing before booking.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Patient data shows a major divide between outpatient diagnostics and intensive care. While a comprehensive diagnostic evaluation at NP Istanbul Brain Hospital starts at $6,300, many families opt for the 30-day intensive hospitalization package at $55,000. This longer stay allows for continuous monitoring and integrated therapies that typically provide more stabilized behavioral progress than short-term visits.

Patient Consensus: Parents emphasize the importance of having an empathetic interpreter during the process. They often recommend joining dedicated social media groups to verify recent clinical experiences before making a deposit.

How long should I plan to stay for treatment?

Autism treatment in Turkey typically requires 7 to 30 days depending on the clinical approach. Diagnostic evaluations and stem cell therapies often conclude within 1 week, while comprehensive neuropsychiatric hospitalization programs at specialized facilities like NP Istanbul Brain Hospital extend to a full 30-day cycle.

  • Diagnostic evaluation: Intensive assessments including MRI and EEG usually require 7 days in Istanbul.
  • Stem cell therapy: Procedure takes 4 hours, but monitoring typically requires 14 to 21 days.
  • Inpatient hospitalization: Comprehensive behavioral and neurological programs are structured for 30-day residential stays.
  • Recovery window: Most patients stabilize within 24 to 48 hours after minimally invasive interventions.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While a 30-day stay sounds long, it is the threshold for clinics to sync therapies like rTMS with intensive behavioral monitoring. Data shows packages at JCI-accredited centers often bundle these weeks into a single flat fee. This prevents the high daily costs of modular treatments found in the US.

Patient Consensus: Families recommend planning a 3-week minimum stay to account for post-treatment fatigue and behavioral flares. Many advise booking flexible return flights, as monitoring needs frequently extend the trip by 50% beyond the original schedule.

Are there specialized facilities for international patients?

Turkey hosts premier neuropsychiatric facilities specifically engineered for international autism patients, offering dedicated coordination departments to manage medical, linguistic, and logistical needs. Accredited centers like NP Istanbul Brain Hospital and Liv Hospital Ulus provide tailored in-patient programs, multilingual translation, and streamlined diagnostic evaluations for families traveling from abroad.

  • Accreditation standards: Facilities maintain Joint Commission International (JCI) and ISO certifications for safety.
  • Specialized infrastructure: Top centers like NP Istanbul are Europe’s primary neuro-psychiatric specialized hospitals.
  • Linguistic support: International departments provide 24/7 interpretation for English, Arabic, and CIS country speakers.
  • Logistical bundles: Packages often include VIP airport transfers and multi-week hospital stays for families.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While many general hospitals claim autism services, NP Istanbul Brain Hospital stands out because it was built specifically for brain health. Our data shows it maintains a high 4.4 rating across 434 orders. This specialization is rare; they offer 30-day intensive in-patient socialization and therapy packages that general medical centers typically cannot accommodate.

Patient Consensus: Families emphasize the value of empathetic coordinators like Natalia at NP Istanbul during complex diagnostic stays. They often recommend confirming post-treatment telehealth options before leaving the clinic to ensure long-term support remains accessible.
