Univ. Prof. Dr. Christoph C. Zielinski is one of Austria’s most prominent oncologists and a global leader in medical oncology, hematology, and cancer immunotherapy. Over the past four decades, he has shaped the development of modern cancer treatment in Austria and internationally, combining cutting-edge research with compassionate, individualized patient care.
He studied medicine at the University of Vienna, where he earned his medical degree in the 1970s, followed by training in internal medicine, hematology, and oncology. After his specialization, he began his academic career at the Medical University of Vienna, where he would later become a full professor and head of oncology.
1980s – Completed specialist training in internal medicine and oncology; began clinical and research work at Vienna General Hospital (AKH).
1990s – Appointed Head of the Clinical Division of Oncology at the Medical University of Vienna and the Vienna General Hospital, leading Austria’s largest oncology department.
2000s – Founded and directed the Comprehensive Cancer Center Vienna (CCC), a multidisciplinary institution integrating patient care, research, and education.
2010s – Served as President of the Central European Cooperative Oncology Group (CECOG), coordinating international clinical trials and promoting collaboration among European cancer centers.
Today – Serves as Chairman of the Vienna Cancer Center and Medical Director of Wiener Privatklinik’s International Oncology Center, where he leads efforts in personalized cancer medicine and immuno-oncology.
Prof. Zielinski has published extensively in the world’s leading oncology journals and contributed to the development of individualized cancer therapies, tailoring treatments to each patient’s tumor biology. He is a highly sought-after lecturer at international conferences and has received numerous awards for his scientific and humanitarian contributions.
