Qualifications
Professor Lee Seok-gu is a leading liver transplant surgeon at Myongji Hospital with extensive experience in complex organ transplantation. He has performed approximately 2,000 liver transplantations and has played an important role in the development of liver transplantation in South Korea.
Among his major achievements are Korea’s first liver transplantation performed entirely without blood transfusion, hepatocyte transplantation in a one-month-old infant, and the country’s first clinical application of a bioartificial liver for a patient with acute liver failure. He has also performed living-donor liver transplantations in Egypt and transferred liver transplantation expertise to medical teams in Vietnam.
