Dr. Gupta graduated with honors from medical school. He completed six years of internship at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham and St. James's University Hospital in Leeds, UK.
In 1998, Subash Gupta returned to India and took up the post of consultant in liver transplantation and gastrointestinal surgery. His team of surgeons, transplantologists and hepatologists performed complex liver transplant surgeries on patients with the rarest and most severe diseases (pseudosclerosing cholangitis, with concomitant HIV infection, organ transposition in donor or recipient).
In 2012, Subash Gupta received the Indian Society of Clinical Excellence Award .
