Zvi Israel

Prof. Zvi Israel is the Director of the Functional and Restorative Surgery Unit at Hadassah Medical Center. Forbes Magazine included him in the list of Israeli doctors in 2018 and 2019. He specializes in functional neurosurgery and electrode implantation for complex neurological conditions.

Specialization and Surgical Methods

Prof. Israel treats movement disorders and psychiatric conditions through neurosurgery. He uses deep brain stimulation (DBS) to treat Parkinson's disease, tremors, and dystonia. DBS involves placing electrodes in specific brain areas to regulate abnormal impulses.

The specialist also treats chronic depression and tinnitus by implanting electrodes in the brain. He performs surgical treatments for epilepsy, including vagus nerve stimulation – a procedure that sends regular electrical energy to the brain. This helps prevent seizures by stimulating the vagus nerve.
