The Wiener Privatklinik (WPK) is a private hospital in the university quarter of Vienna, Austria, next to the Vienna General Hospital and the Medical University of Vienna. Founded in 1871 and led since 1995 by a group of physicians, it works with more than 300 recognised doctors across over 30 specialities, and around 45 percent of its patients come from more than 20 countries. The clinic has 145 beds, seven wards and its own operating theatres, combining hospital medicine with a hotel standard of care.
Central European Cancer Center
Oncology is the clinic's central focus. The WPK Academy Central European Cancer Center brings together surgeons, oncologists, radiation oncologists, radiologists and pathologists, and every case is discussed by an interdisciplinary tumour board before treatment begins. Care covers the full path from diagnosis to therapy, using:

- Radiotherapy
- Immunotherapy and chemotherapy
- Heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) for tumours in the abdomen

Diagnosis and Early Detection
Diagnostics are gathered under one roof, so results are available quickly and without repeated appointments. Imaging includes MRI, CT, PET-CT and SPECT-CT, alongside endoscopy and molecular analysis. The clinic also offers liquid biopsy, a blood test that can detect signs of a tumour at an early stage.

The support from the clinic since I started treatment has been brilliant
What worried me most was what haemodialysis would actually be like and how I would feel. But my doctor was honest about what to expect and explained the whole process very clearly, including the diet and fluid restrictions. As it turns out, I feel better than I expected. I’ve been prescribed three sessions a week, and the support from the clinic since I started treatment has been brilliant. They’re always available, they’ve checked in on how I’m feeling and given me clear instructions. Importantly, there were no additional costs. My advice to future patients would be to prioritise their health above all else.

Given how positive my experience was, I would definitely recommend this clinic to anyone needing similar care
My biggest concern was the anxiety around getting a full-body CT scan, but that worry disappeared quickly. From the moment I walked in, the staff made me feel comfortable and explained every single step, which was incredibly reassuring. The clinic was clean and organized, and the medical team was both professional and genuinely kind throughout the entire process. Everything went smoothly. Given how positive my experience was, I would definitely recommend this clinic to anyone needing similar care. I'm grateful for how they handled my case with such efficiency and compassion.

The coordination was truly outstanding
I was most concerned about the communication between my oncologists and the administrators. This aspect turned out to be impeccable. The coordination was truly outstanding. I arrived when the stage had already been determined, which simplified the process. However, to fully understand the treatment method, I had to ask clarifying questions, and only one therapy option was recommended. It's still too early to talk about changes in symptoms, as I am in the early stages of recovery. My main advice for people in similar situations seeking treatment abroad is to definitely get a second opinion.
The consultation went as usual, and I received an alternative treatment option.
I expected the doctor to tell me whether I am being treated correctly and whether radiofrequency ablation was necessary. The consultation ended quickly, and I didn't have time to ask my questions.

My experience has been entirely negative. The treatment prescribed did not follow the standard protocol for this condition. Under this treatment, the condition only worsened. I was given information about the most effective treatment currently used worldwide. I never received the doctor’s conclusion following the consultation, even though I asked for it several times. And on top of everything else, judging by the result, it wasn’t worth €500. A treatment that doesn’t work, with no documentation whatsoever. Just a conversation with a professor to whom you have to ask a thousand questions and figure out the treatment options for your condition yourself, because he offers nothing and explains nothing.
Speed of service delivery
The treatment recommended by the professor at the Austrian clinic was completely at odds with standard treatment protocols
