What would I say to a friend who’s hesitating? Just go for it
What would I say to a friend who’s hesitating? Just go for it. My biggest fear was not understanding the treatment plan or feeling rushed, but that wasn’t the case at all. The dentist was very patient and took the time to explain each step to me in detail. It was reassuring. The overall organisation ran smoothly and the whole clinic team were professional and happy to answer my questions. Coordination via Bookimed simplified the whole process, which helped reduce the stress of having a medical appointment abroad. I left with clear information and a good overall impression.

I would like to thank BIDC and also Bookimed for their professionalism
Hello everyone, like many other people before an operation, I wasn't feeling very well. The staff at the clinic immediately reassured and accompanied me. Believe me or not, I didn't feel a thing. The dental surgeon fitted the 2 implants in 40 minutes, and I had no infections whatsoever. My Bookimed advisor (Péguy) was with me from the start and is still with me today. I would like to thank BIDC and also Bookimed for their professionalism. Sylvain B.

The wisdom teeth extraction was done so fast with utmost care
It is a clean hospital and the wisdom teeth extraction was done so fast with utmost care. The dentist and dental personnel can speak fluent English which is important for most people like I. For wisdom teeth extraction the cost was 20000 baht for 4 teeth( including medication and nurse charge), but it all depends if the teeth has impacted. I would highly recommend the clinic.

FAQ about Endosteal implant in Thailand

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

What are the risks of getting an endosteal dental implant in Thailand?

Getting an endosteal dental implant in Thailand carries risks like implant failure, infection, or nerve damage. These issues can occur if the clinic does not use proper imaging. While success rates are high, problems often arise from poor jawbone preparation. Insufficient healing time or inconsistent follow-up care can also cause complications.

  • Imaging accuracy: Poor 3D imaging can lead to incorrect placement or sinus penetration.
  • Implant failure: Low bone density or rushed healing makes it harder for implants to fuse.
  • Record transfers: Missing surgical notes or brand details complicates future care in Australia.
  • Revision costs: Fixing complications in Australia often costs more than the original surgery.
  • Travel timing: Flying too soon after surgery may increase swelling or infection risks.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Australian patients should prioritise clinics using recognisable brands like Straumann or Osstem. These global systems allow Australian dentists to find compatible parts for future maintenance.

Patient Consensus: Many patients find that obtaining digital CT scans and detailed surgical notes is essential. Confirming an aftercare plan before leaving Thailand helps the transition back to Australian clinics.

What happens if I do not have enough jawbone for an endosteal implant in Thailand?

If jawbone density is low for an endosteal implant in Thailand, specialists use bone grafting or sinus lifts. These procedures rebuild the bone foundation. Clinics like Dental Smile Pattaya also offer alternatives like all-on-4 immediate loading or mini implants. These options require less bone volume for stability.

  • Bone grafting: Surgeons add bone material to thicken the jaw for a secure implant base.
  • Sinus lift: This procedure raises the sinus floor to allow grafting in the upper jaw.
  • Clinical imaging: Clinics use 3D CT scans to map bone depth before suggesting a technique.
  • Alternative implants: Basal or mini implants can often bypass the need for extensive bone grafts.
  • Staged approach: Healing for grafts typically requires a separate trip before the final implant placement.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thai clinics like Dentist at Home include 3D CT scans in standard packages. This helps prevent bone density surprises. Some patients save _price_percent_discount_% by opting for all-on-4 systems when multiple teeth are missing. This technique often uses existing bone more effectively than individual implants.

Patient Consensus: Getting a 3D scan before travelling to Thailand confirms if grafting is necessary. Patients find that specialists explain alternative plans clearly when bone quality is low for standard implants.

What is the success rate of endosteal implants performed in Thailand?

Endosteal implants in Thailand maintain a success rate between 95% and 98%. This aligns with global clinical standards. Leading dental centres in Bangkok and Phuket achieve these results. They use 3D CT planning and premium titanium brands like Straumann for precise placement.

  • Technological precision: Clinics use 3D CT scans to map bone density before surgery.
  • Specialist expertise: Surgeons like Dr Pawak Tungthangthum hold implantology credentials from the United States.
  • Premium materials: Providers use internationally documented systems such as Megagen, Osstem, and Straumann.
  • All-on-4 efficiency: Specialised clinics like Dental Smile Pattaya complete full-arch restorations in 5–7 days.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Headline prices start from $700. High-volume clinics serving 5,000+ patients annually often provide the best long-term stability. Selecting a clinic like A.B. Dental Studio reduces travel time. They offer CAD/CAM same-day restorations to prevent bite alignment issues.

Patient Consensus: Success depends on receiving a clear treatment plan with 3D imaging. Patients recommend confirming the clinic's local follow-up policy and warranty terms before returning home.

Will I experience pain during an endosteal implant procedure in Thailand?

Patients do not experience sharp pain during endosteal implant procedures in Thailand. Dentists use local anaesthesia to numb the surgical site. Minor discomfort occurs during the initial injection. However, the surgery involves feeling only pressure or vibrations as the specialist secures the implant.

  • Pain management: Local anaesthesia is standard for placing devices like Megagen or Osstem dental implants.
  • Sedation options: Clinics often provide additional sedation to help anxious patients remain relaxed and comfortable.
  • 3D CT scanning: Centres like Dentist at Home Clinic use scans for precise, less invasive placement.
  • Recovery medication: Post-operative care packages typically include medications to manage minor swelling and gum soreness.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Local anaesthesia is standard. However, dentists like Dr. Pawak Tungthangthum at Kitcha Dental Clinic bring specialist training from Chulalongkorn University and UCLA. This expertise in implantology often results in more efficient surgery and reduced post-operative discomfort.

Patient Consensus: Anxiety before the procedure is often the hardest part. The surgery itself feels like vibrations rather than pain. Most patients in Thailand suggest planning for soft foods and local pain relief for the first 48 hours.

How many dental visits are required for an endosteal implant procedure in Thailand?

Endosteal implants in Thailand typically require two separate trips over 4 to 6 months. The first trip covers surgical placement and requires 5 to 7 days. Patients return for 3 to 5 days after the bone heals to fit the permanent crown and abutment.

  • First trip: Surgeons place the implant post and a temporary tooth during a 5–7 day stay.
  • Healing interval: Osseointegration, where the bone fuses to the implant, takes 2 to 6 months.
  • Second trip: Dentists fit the permanent crown and abutment during a short 3–5 day visit.
  • One-trip options: Dental Smile Pattaya offers All-on-4 immediate loading with permanent teeth in 5–7 days.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While most clinics require two trips, A.B. Dental Studio Phuket uses CEREC chairside technology. This allows for same-day crowns, which can shorten the second visit. For standard endosteal implants, choosing a clinic that includes 3D CT scans provides precise placement and fewer adjustments.

Patient Consensus: Expect to plan two distinct journeys to Thailand for the best long-term results. Many people factor in recovery time and flight logistics between the surgical and prosthetic stages.

What exactly is an endosteal implant procedure in Thailand?

An endosteal implant procedure in Thailand is a standard dental surgery. A specialist surgically places a titanium screw into the jawbone. This screw acts as an artificial root for a crown, bridge, or denture. Clinicians in Bangkok and Phuket use 3D CT scanning for precise placement.

  • Technique variety: Clinics offer screw-type implants, basal implants, and All-on-4 immediate loading options.
  • Specialised imaging: Top centres use ORTHOPHOS SL 3D imaging for detailed surgical planning.
  • Premium brands: Surgeons typically use global brands like Straumann, Megagen, and Osstem for compatibility.
  • Surgical stages: Standard procedures require two trips. Immediate loading provides teeth in 5–7 days.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Base prices for implants in Thailand range from $700 to $1,300. However, all-inclusive packages around A$2,100 provide better value. These bundles often cover 3D CT scans, abutments, and crowns. Individual quotes typically exclude these items. Choosing clinics in Pattaya or Bangkok with higher patient volumes, such as 1,000+ annually, helps access these bundled rates.

Patient Consensus: Patients find that Thai clinics provide high-quality brands and thorough 3D imaging. It is essential to confirm if the quote covers the final crown and follow-up care.
