How Much Does Lipofilling (Fat Grafting) Cost in Thailand?

Lipofilling in Thailand typically costs from $2,200 / ฿74,800 to $4,000 / ฿136,000. The final price depends on the target area, fat volume, and the clinic category. In the United States, similar procedures cost around $8,500 / ฿289,000 on average. Patients can find savings of approximately 64% in Thailand. Packages often include pre-operative tests, anesthesia, the surgical procedure, compression garments, and follow-up visits in Bangkok, Phuket, or Pattaya.

  • Facial fat transfer: Often the most affordable option, with prices typically 40-50% lower than body procedures.
  • Breast augmentation with fat: Generally requires higher volumes and specialized harvesting techniques to ensure fat cell survival.
  • Brazilian butt lift: Usually represents the higher end of the price spectrum due to extensive liposuction requirements.
  • PRP enhancement: Some clinics offer platelet-rich plasma additions to increase fat graft retention for a premium.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Paying for a premium package often yields better value than choosing the lowest price. For example, Wansiri Hospital offers packages around $5,050 that include 24-hour nursing and nutritionist-prepared meals. This level of post-operative care supports their 99% success rate. High-volume centers like Yanhee International Hospital, accredited by JCI, provide specialized expertise that mid-tier clinics may lack without significantly increasing the base cost.

I’m feeling better than expected this early on
My main worries before the procedure were the recovery process and the final look of the scars. My surgeon was very direct about both, clearly explaining the realistic results, the swelling timeline, and exactly where the incisions for my full neck lift would be placed behind the ears. This honesty was appreciated. The procedure was done under general anesthesia, and I’m feeling better than expected this early on. The clinic’s support has been solid; they gave me a clear aftercare guide and have been easy to reach with questions. It was also a relief that there were no additional expenses on top of the quoted price.

The clinic staff were competent, and the surgeon was clear in our consultations
Waking up, I felt groggy but managed. The clinic staff were competent, and the surgeon was clear in our consultations. The incision was placed under the breast, which is what I wanted. I am still in the early recovery phase, and it has its challenges. My pain has lessened to a mild discomfort, but sleeping through the night is difficult, and my nipples are uncomfortably hypersensitive. Overall, the medical care was solid, though the recovery process itself is demanding. It’s a serious undertaking.

Despite the discomfort, the clinic, the staff, and my surgeon were all fantastic and provided great care
Monsplaty, Tummy Tuck and 360 Liposuction. My biggest concern going into this was what the recovery would actually feel like. It's not easy. The most challenging part has definitely been the constant tight feeling, which is something to be prepared for. My surgeon used a combination of liposuction and excision. Right now there is still some swelling, so it’s too early to know how my clothes will fit differently in the end. Despite the discomfort, the clinic, the staff, and my surgeon were all fantastic and provided great care. It was a professional and supportive environment, and I'm glad I made the choice to go there.
Very clean, very inviting. After care was good too. Everything was quick and easy. Communication via whatsapp made things easier as well. I travelled solo and the staff helped that little extra.
After surgery garments are not forgiving for us longer torso people. They were a bit short which added a lil discomfort when it rolled at the back. Other than that everything was really good.

Even at just 15 days post-op, the initial aspect is already better than expected
Seeing the surgical site for the first time was the moment everything finally felt real. Even at just 15 days post-op, the initial aspect is already better than expected. We used the penile inversion technique, and while the results look promising, the recovery requires a lot of patience and steady commitment to the healing process. My biggest challenge at this stage is definitely the physical discomfort of being seated for a long time. It is a process. The clinic staff has been very attentive during my stay, and I am expecting to have the catheter removed very soon. To anyone else preparing for this surgery, it’s not easy but it is a good experience overall.

The staff deserves a special mention for being so supportive
One of my biggest worries was the potential for hidden costs, but I was relieved to find there were no additional expenses on top of what the clinic quoted. The staff deserves a special mention for being so supportive. They've stayed in touch and have been very easy to reach, which is reassuring during recovery from my traditional liposuction on two areas. What stood out about my surgeon was how carefully he marked the areas before we went into the operating room. My recovery is going about as expected so far. The whole process was handled professionally.

The assistants and the doctors were great, clear explanations, details. The care from the assistant before operation and after, the next day it was great. However, the grab taxis for consultations were not very comfortable—not spacious, not comfortable, old tapestry, smell inside, which made us feel annoyed before surgery when already nervous and irritated. When we came back for post-operative checking we already made an appointment but in the end we had to wait 2 hours more from the appointed hour.

Just trust them
What really stood out was sitting with my doctor before the procedure to draw the beard shape together. That personal approach made a huge difference. Honestly, so far I'm feeling better than expected. The procedure was done using the FUE technique. The clinic’s support afterward has been great; they provided a clear aftercare guide and have stayed in touch with me. It was also a relief that there were no additional expenses on top of what I had paid. My advice for a future patient? Just trust them. They know what they are doing!
Excellent staff. Really took care of me. Wjile the full effects of my procedure will take several months to show. I'm very pleased so far of the outcome. They are very accommodating and generous with their time
Some language issues but some of the staff speak English well enough that it really isn't a problem

I'm confident in my choice and would recommend this clinic
My biggest worry was how the results would actually look and feel afterward. Now that I'm in the early stages of recovery from the fat transfer graft, I can say the outcome is positive. The girth is already noticeably thicker. Everything is still slightly numb, as expected, but the visual change is definitely there. The surgeon and the entire staff were professional and clear with all information, which helped manage my concerns from the beginning. It's a relief. Based on the care I received and the initial results, I'm confident in my choice and would recommend this clinic.

What truly stood out was my surgeon, who was honest about realistic results from the start and personally handled both the consultation and the surgery
I was thinking that going into a revision was getting unrealistic promises. What truly stood out was my surgeon, who was honest about realistic results from the start and personally handled both the consultation and the surgery. It gave me confidence. My alarplasty was done to correct an asymmetric nose, and while I'm still in the early stages of healing, it’s really too early to tell what the final outcome will be. The staff were supportive, providing a clear aftercare guide for my recovery at home. I also appreciated that there were no additional expenses on top of what I had already paid the clinic.

the care provided by the surgeon and the staff was impeccable
My one-off operation went very well and the care provided by the surgeon and the staff was impeccable, apart from a few minor language issues. However, you should be prepared for a few additional costs that were not included in the original price: we had to pay for the transfers between the hotel and the clinic ourselves, and the wound care supplies were insufficient, which amounted to a mid-double-digit sum in total. My most important tip for future patients would be to make absolutely sure you clarify any dietary requirements (vegetarian/halal/...) with the clinic before you arrive.
The coordination team is very dedicated and always available. The staff are consistently very friendly and go out of their way to help. A very comprehensive package with extensive, thorough preliminary examinations and no hidden costs. A superbly equipped single room, including a sofa bed for an accompanying person.
Contrary to what was advertised, there was no interpreter. The nursing staff, in particular, did not always have a good enough command of English to explain everything clearly and in detail. The consultation with the surgeon was less detailed than expected. It wasn’t always entirely clear which services were included in the package and which weren’t (particularly transfers) – but there were no major hidden costs. Hospital food/light meals after operations are always a challenge, and perhaps even more so in a different cultural context – I wasn’t asked about any specific dietary preferences, so anyone who absolutely needs vegetarian, vegan, kosher or halal food should definitely clarify this in advance; in my opinion, the hospital bed was very hard, which is significantly more uncomfortable when you can’t move around much

The most reassuring part of the whole process was sitting with the surgeon before we started
The most reassuring part of the whole process was sitting with the surgeon before we started. He took the time to draw the hairline with me and clearly explained the entire FUE extraction and implantation process, which helped manage my expectations for the 2,000-3,000 graft procedure. Now in the early stages of healing, I'm feeling about as expected. The clinic has stayed in touch, which is good. Overall, it was a solid experience with the surgeon and staff, and I appreciated that there were no additional expenses on top of what I was quoted.

The entire staff and my surgeon were great and supportive through it all
My biggest fear was the recovery, and it’s certainly a process that requires patience. The entire staff and my surgeon were great and supportive through it all. Right now, my chin is still very swollen, so I can't properly see the projection from the large, solid silicone implant yet. The numbness has been the hardest part. My lower lip feels slightly numb, which has made eating the biggest challenge so far. It’s a strange sensation. Despite the temporary side effects of healing, the care I received was solid and I would recommend this clinic.

My breathing is now even better than before
My biggest concern was that the result might look unnatural or that my breathing might be affected. Neither of these things happened. In fact, my breathing is now even better than before. During the open rhinoplasty, a small bump was removed and the bridge of my nose is now, even so soon after the procedure, already straighter, just as I wanted. In addition, the tip of my nose already looks much more defined. The staff and the surgeon were consistently supportive and answered all my questions patiently, which gave me a great deal of reassurance. I felt I was in good hands.

The surgeon and the whole medical team have been absolutely brilliant
I was really worried about the recovery period, and the truth is it hasn’t been as easy as I expected. My stomach is still swollen, and the compression garments are still tight, but the hardest part so far has been dealing with the annoying numb patches. That said, the surgeon and the whole medical team have been absolutely brilliant. The doctor explained to me that he used ultrasound technology (VASER) and removed between 3 and 4 litres of fat, and I felt I was in safe hands with them. Unfortunately, the clinic’s facilities weren’t up to the same standard as the quality of medical care, which is why I’ve given it a lower rating. Overall, I’m optimistic about the final result.
The medical and nursing staff are truly exceptional
The clinic generally needs more space

FAQ about Lipofilling (Fat Grafting) in Thailand

These FAQs come from real patients seeking medical assistance through Bookimed. Answers are given by experienced medical coordinators and trusted clinic representatives.

Is lipofilling in Thailand safe?

Lipofilling in Thailand is safe when performed by board-certified plastic surgeons in JCI-accredited hospitals like Yanhee International or Bumrungrad International. These top-tier facilities maintain a 99% success rate for major plastic surgeries by utilizing advanced technologies and specialized fat transfer protocols.

  • Surgeon credentials: Prioritize surgeons certified by the Thai Board of Plastic Surgery or ISAPS.
  • Facility standards: JCI accreditation remains the global gold standard for sterile environment and safety.
  • Fat survival: Professional techniques aim for higher viability despite unpredictable 30–50% natural absorption rates.
  • Recovery window: Plan a 14-day stay before flying to minimize blood clot risks.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While small clinics offer lower prices, the safety gap is significant. Data shows leading hospitals like Wansiri integrate nutritionist-led recovery meals and 24-hour nursing into lipofilling packages. This comprehensive post-op support directly correlates with their high success rates compared to a 1-in-3 revision risk at uncertified clinics.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize that success requires at least 6 months of research into a surgeon's long-term portfolio. Many recommend budget tours or companion-assisted trips to better manage the 2–3 week monitoring period required for stable results.

How long do the results last?

Lipofilling results in Thailand are considered permanent once the transferred fat establishes a blood supply, typically 3 to 6 months post-surgery. While 30% to 70% of injected fat survives long-term, the remaining volume is reabsorbed naturally by the body during the initial healing phase.

  • Fat retention: Patients typically retain 50% of transferred volume after the first year of recovery.
  • Surgical technique: Surgeons often overfill areas by 40% to 60% to compensate for initial loss.
  • Maintenance: Significant weight fluctuations can alter results as surviving fat cells expand or shrink.
  • Stability period: Final contours are usually visible 6 months after the initial grafting procedure.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data from top-tier Bangkok facilities like Wansiri Hospital shows a preference for premium, no-implant lipofilling to maximize natural retention. While the procedure averages $2,200 to $4,000, choosing clinics with high success rates, such as those reporting 99.0% for major plastic surgeries, often reduces the need for costly secondary touch-ups.

Patient Consensus: Many patients find that thinner areas like the face see faster resorption compared to larger body grafts. They recommend following strict no-pressure protocols for 6 weeks to ensure the highest possible fat survival rate.

What is the recovery process like?

Recovery from lipofilling in Thailand typically involves 1 to 2 days of hospitalization followed by 7 to 10 days of initial healing. Most patients manage visible swelling and bruising within 2 weeks, while final fat graft stabilization and body contouring results mature over 3 to 6 months.

  • Hospital stay: Patients usually stay 1 day for monitoring following the fat grafting procedure.
  • Initial healing: Swelling and bruising typically peak during the first 7 to 10 days post-op.
  • Compression garments: Wearing medical garments 24/7 for 4 to 6 weeks prevents donor site lumps.
  • Activity restrictions: Patients should avoid strenuous exercise and heavy lifting for at least 4 weeks.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data from top Bangkok clinics shows a 99.0% success rate when using premium lipofilling methods. Surgeons like Dr. Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul have performed over 20,000 operations, proving that high volume directly correlates with smoother recovery cycles. Choosing a JCI-accredited facility like Yanhee International ensures international safety standards are met during the critical first 48 hours.

Patient Consensus: Patients often find donor site discomfort more surprising than the treated area itself. Managing the local heat with air conditioning and elevation is essential to control swelling during the first week.

What does a typical package include?

A typical lipofilling package in Thailand generally includes the surgical fat harvesting and injection, sterile fat processing, general anesthesia, and 1 day of hospital stay. Most bundles also provide post-operative medications, wound dressing sets, 24-hour nursing services, and airport or clinic transfers.

  • Surgical components: Includes fat harvesting via liposuction and premium reinjection techniques.
  • Medical stay: Typically provides 1 night in a hospital room with monitored care.
  • Recovery support: Covers post-operative medications, specialized compression garments, and initial wound care.
  • Patient logistics: Includes professional language assistance, nutritional meals, and local clinic transfers.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While base prices stay low, the best value is found in multi-area packages. Combining facial and hand lipofilling often costs significantly less than separate sessions. Clinics like Wansiri Hospital highlight high success rates by bundling specialized 24-hour nursing and nutritionist-prepared meals into their standard surgical fees.

Patient Consensus: Patients emphasize confirming if fat volume is truly unlimited. Many recommend budgeting for extra recovery massages and verify if touch-ups are included to manage natural fat reabsorption.

How long should I stay in Thailand for the procedure?

Most patients should plan for a 12 to 14 day stay in Thailand for lipofilling to ensure optimal fat graft survival and safety. This timeframe includes 1 day for hospitalization, followed by critical daily clinical monitoring through day 7 to manage peak swelling and incisions.

  • Hospital stay: 1 day of inpatient care is standard for monitoring immediately after fat grafting.
  • Clinical follow-up: Daily check-ins are required through day 7 to assess graft site healing.
  • Fit-to-fly window: Surgeons typically advise waiting until day 10 to 14 before taking international flights.
  • Recovery milestone: Swelling generally peaks between days 4 and 5 before beginning to subside.

Bookimed Expert Insight: While base prices for fat grafting range from $2,200 to $4,000, the real value in Thailand is the low cost of extended recovery. Since clinics like Wansiri Hospital do not include hotel stays in their $4,900 packages, patients can find high-quality accommodations nearby for around $50 per night. This makes a full 14-day recovery period more affordable here than in other medical hubs, significantly reducing the risk of fat resorption caused by premature travel.

Patient Consensus: Many emphasize that flying too early is a mistake. Staying at least 10 days helps stabilize results, as cabin pressure can negatively impact the delicate fat transfer process.

Are there any risks or downsides specific to lipofilling in Thailand?

Lipofilling in Thailand is safe when performed by board-certified specialists. Primary risks include fat resorption and travel-related DVT. Managing follow-up care from Australia also presents logistical challenges. Patients must account for unpredictable fat survival rates and potential touch-up procedures once home.

  • Surgeon credentials: Verify Thai Board of Plastic Surgery certification to avoid unqualified practitioners.
  • DVT prevention: Long-haul flights increase blood clot risks. This requires extended stays after surgery.
  • Fat resorption: Only 60–80% of transferred fat typically survives. This may require future sessions.
  • Follow-up logistics: Managing post-op asymmetry or oil cysts is complex after returning home.
  • Operating standards: Top centres like Phuket Plastic Surgery Institute use HEPA-filtered laminar airflow theatres.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many patients search for the lowest cost. However, top-rated hospitals like Bumrungrad and Yanhee maintain JCI accreditation and ISO standards. Dr Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul at ID Clinic has performed over 20,000+ procedures. Choosing high-volume, accredited specialists significantly reduces technical risks.

Patient Consensus: Confirm your actual surgeon's qualifications beforehand. Plan for variable fat survival rates. Establish a clear written aftercare plan. You should also budget for possible local revisions in Australia.

How do I choose a safe and qualified plastic surgeon for lipofilling in Thailand?

Safe lipofilling in Thailand requires verifying a specialist holds board certification in plastic surgery. They should operate in a Joint Commission International (JCI) accredited facility. Reputable Thai surgeons typically belong to the Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons of Thailand (ThPRS). This membership ensures they meet strict national surgical standards.

  • Hospital-grade facilities: Centres like Bumrungrad and Yanhee maintain JCI accreditation and ISO certifications.
  • Board-certified specialists: Confirm doctors like Dr Kanit Wittayavanichai hold Thai Board of Plastic Surgery diplomas.
  • High-volume experience: Surgeons such as Dr Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul have performed over 20,000 successful procedures.
  • Specialised technology: Leading clinics use VASER LipoSelection to harvest fat cells gently for better survival.
  • Aftercare protocols: All-inclusive packages at Wansiri Hospital provide 1-day hospital stays and 24-hour nursing care.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thai medical facilities often function as full-scale hospitals rather than small clinics. Data shows Yanhee International Hospital employs 180 specialists and serves 450,000 patients annually. Choosing high-volume hospitals reduces risk. They have onsite emergency departments and intensive care units that standalone clinics lack.

Patient Consensus: Patients value clinics providing clear pre-travel communication and language assistance during recovery. They recommend choosing specialists who focus on fat grafting for specific body areas. Patients also look for detailed follow-up plans for when they return to Australia.

Is fat transfer from lipofilling in Thailand permanent, or will the results fade?

Lipofilling results in Thailand are permanent once the fat cells establish a blood supply. Roughly 30% to 50% of the injected fat is naturally reabsorbed within 6 months. The remaining 50% to 70% stays as living tissue. Permanent results depend on the surgeon's meticulous harvesting and purification techniques.

  • Survival phase: Reabsorption occurs during the first 3 to 6 months post-surgery.
  • Stabilisation point: Volume remaining after 6 months typically stays for the long term.
  • Biological behaviour: Transferred fat expands or shrinks naturally with future weight changes.
  • Retention factors: Avoiding physical pressure on the treated area helps sensitive fat cells survive.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Data shows that high-volume centres like Yanhee International Hospital provide better survival rates. This is achieved by using specialised purification. Wansiri Hospital reports a 99.0% success rate across major plastic surgeries. For patients seeking significant volume, planning two staged sessions is often most effective.

Patient Consensus: Patients in Thailand note that initial swelling makes the area look overcorrected. Once things settle after 3 months, the soft volume provides a realistic, lasting improvement.

What is the typical recovery time and how long should I stay in Thailand for lipofilling?

Recovery after lipofilling in Thailand typically takes 1 to 2 weeks. Patients should stay for 7 to 14 days for essential post-operative checks. Timelines depend on the fat volume transferred and donor site recovery.

  • Facial lipofilling: Plan a 7 to 10 day stay for swelling to decrease.
  • Body lipofilling: Allow 10 to 14 days for breast or hip enhancement.
  • Initial healing: Bruising and swelling often peak during the first 3 to 7 days.
  • Flying protocol: Surgeons require a 7-day minimum wait before flying home to prevent blood clots.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Many clinics offer quick turnaround times. However, specialists like Dr. Jiraroch Meevassana at Wansiri Hospital include 1-day hospitalisation for monitoring. This 24-hour professional care helps manage initial swelling before you move to a hotel.

Patient Consensus: Patients suggest staying 14 days to cover surgery and the first review. Donor site soreness often lasts longer than the treated area. Patients should build in extra time for comfort.

What is lipofilling (fat grafting) and how does the procedure work in Thailand?

Lipofilling is a cosmetic procedure where surgeons harvest fat from the abdomen or thighs via liposuction. They then reinject it into areas like the face, breasts, or buttocks. In Thailand, accredited specialists perform this three-stage surgical process using purification techniques for long-term cell survival.

  • Harvesting stage: Surgeons use gentle liposuction to extract fat from donor sites.
  • Purification process: Harvested tissue is centrifuged to isolate healthy adipose and stem cells.
  • Strategic injection: Specialists layer purified fat micro-droplets to establish a permanent blood supply.
  • Treatment areas: Common applications include facial rejuvenation, breast enhancement, and correcting indented scars.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thai clinics often integrate VASER LipoSelection technology during the harvesting phase. This method at centres like Phuket Plastic Surgery Institute (PPSI) helps preserve fat cell integrity. It typically leads to more cells surviving the transfer. This is crucial as the body naturally absorbs some fat.

Patient Consensus: Patients find that choosing Thailand allows for recovery with hospital stays and professional nursing support. Many recommend staying extra time in-country for initial follow-up and potential touch-up sessions.

What are the most popular areas treated with fat grafting in Thai clinics?

Thai clinics most frequently perform fat grafting for facial rejuvenation and breast enhancement. Patients typically seek facial fat transfer to restore volume in cheeks and under-eye hollows. Forehead smoothing and lip enhancements are also common. Body contouring often involves fat grafting to the breasts or buttocks.

  • Facial rejuvenation: Surgeons target sunken temples, hollow cheeks, and deep under-eye areas.
  • Breast enhancement: Natural volume increase is achieved without implants, often including hospital stays.
  • Hand rejuvenation: Fat transfers smooth skin texture and reduce visible signs of ageing.
  • Buttock contouring: Liposuction technologies like VASER help harvest fat for shaping procedures.

Bookimed Expert Insight: Thai clinics see heavy volume for complex facial fat grafting. Surgeons like Dr Phatcharasak Kraisornphongsakul at ID Clinic Bangkok have performed over 20,000+ procedures. Experienced doctors use precise harvesting and injection techniques, which often leads to better fat retention.

Patient Consensus: Face and breasts are the top choices in Thailand. Results can vary, so patients suggest planning for potential follow-up sessions. Proper aftercare and checking a surgeon's success rate for your target area is essential.
